Gus though he could get things fixed after talk with the principal. He would say to him that it was a big mistake, and that he's not a kindergarten, that he don't need diapers, and to get his 2nd grade uniform again.
As soon he got into the principal's room, he explained everything to him, how it all started, and what happened on the kindergarten. That he got a new and thicker diaper, got fed by babyfood, got the diaper checked there, and all. It looked everything so good, but when he finished, it was the teacher's turn to talk to the principal, the main reason of why bring Gussy there.
She told about what he did. The bad behavior expected for a kindergarten kid, and his escape attempt. The principal then grabbed Gussy's record, and saw that he's not a toddler and not a kindergardner. He then send Gussy and the teacher to the waiting room, to give a phonecall.
5 minutes later,he call Gussy again, and started to talk:
Principal - Well, you were right; You were supposed to be in 2nd Grade...But, due your behavior, and for running away from the classroom with no permission of the teacher, you'll get a punishment. It's not a simple detention. You'll be moved back to the kindergarten for this whole year. I already called your dad, and after explain all what happened, he's ok with this.
The skunk kept there, looking terrified about his punishment. He would stay in that classroom, with the babyfoods, the diaper checks and changes, the naps...for 1 year! And i think that he'll need a new diaper as soon as he get back to the kindergarten,

Poor Gus, I feel bad for you. It wasn't fair of the principal to demote you to kindergarten for the rest of the year just because you ran away from the kindergarten class, which you weren't even supposed to be in in the 1st place. You were trying to get to the grade you belonged in. In fact, I'm questioning if the principal's even legally allowed to do that in this situation. I imagine the principal getting in legal trouble or in trouble with the head of the school district if word of this ever got out. And also, what bad behavior expected of a toddler? Apart from trying to escape kindergarten, the only other time Gus acted "like a kindergartner" was when he tried to remove the cap of his sippy cup. That isn't necessary bad behavior or to be expected of specifically a toddler or younger, as Gus didn't even need the sippy cup, as he was 8 years old. So, yeah. I think what happened to Gus was super unfair.
