Been thinking on some Trek stuff lately and well I got the idea for my own lil faction off well away from the Federation and this first species here is what first came of that.  As with all new species I'll do a Codex Entry on the species and then go into things for this character.

The Telvain are a mammalian species native to the world of Telvanta. They are a swift keen species whose civilization spread across their world early on. The Telvain have had a long history of rivaling nations jockying for position over the course of nearly 17 thousand years. Eventually this came to an end as nuclear technology was finally developed. Telvain nations began backing off of conflict not wishing to instigate a nuclear war. After several near misses the Telvian formed a sort of united nations. From this original meeting place of nations eventually roles their Global government at about the same time FTL technology was invented.  Over the course of several Centuries the Telvain established themselves as a respectable space fairing race. As new worlds were discovered alliances and trade agreements were brokered. These loose alliances would eventually give way for the Telvain to found the United Coalition of Worlds.  Often simply refereed to as The Coalition. With nearly a dozen member species the Coalition is nowhere near the sheer size of the federation though their council is far more active and all races contribute ships and manpower to the Coalition Fleet.  Telvain are quite proud of these achievements and strive to make themselves better in any way they can. This has lead to many scientist and philosophers among them. The former has allowed for them to biologically better themselves. Many genetic ailments have been eradicated, their senses heightened, strength and immune system enhanced, and life spans in upwards of 500 years.  The Telvain take a very open approach to their lives usually curious about other races as well and quick to adopt practices they see as useful.

Biography: Vardel excelled as a leader at a young age and showed a drive to want to defend others and explore. Entrance Exame test at the Coailition Academy were the 3rd highest on record. He befriended a Lexin Revail at a young age. The two attended the Academy together and graduated together. Lexin would later go on to marry Shala. This relationship would later end in tragedy. Lexin died during a Selken Pirate raid on Golvek in what would later be called The Great Incursion.  Vardel and Shala would later fall in love around the same time Shala discovered she was pregnant by Lexin. The two married shortly before the baby's birth and decided to name him for his biological father. Professionally Vardelhas proven to be an intelligent and practical captain placing a high value on the lives of his crew, only willing to sacrifice them for the mission if the need is great enough to warrant it. Has grown to know his bridge crew well and is on a first name basis with all of them valuing their input greatly.  Has shown the keen skill to utalize his crew's talents to their fullest often deferring to those in their field of expertise.
