Scifi, Nico and Pancho Meet a Friend From Far Away

    Early one morning, at the beginning of a hot, African, summer day, Nico the lesser oriental civet and Pancho the meerkat were collecting fruit. Nico would climb the fruit trees, pick the fruit and toss it down, as a civets claws are well suited for climbing. Because a meerkat's claws are more suited for digging, Pancho did not climb the trees, but instead, gather the fruit that Nico tossed down and put it into an old burlap sac he and Nico found in the jungle one day.

  Nico and Pancho were at a banana tree when they heard someone call out, "Hi there". When they turned to see where the greeting came from, they saw a creature like no one they've ever seen before. The creature waved to Nico and Pancho, and seemed a bit shy at first. Pancho set the bag of fruit down and Nico climbed down out of the banana tree so they could go over to greet the strange creature. Nico and Pancho introduced themselves to the creature, and the creature introduced himself as Kassa. Nico and Pancho, and their newly acquainted friend took a liking to each other right from the start as they got into a conversation and exchanging personal stories. Nico had commented that he and Pancho had never seen a creature like Kassa before.

    "I'm sure that's not really important", Kassa replied. "As friends, you'll see me around more often".

    "Would you like to see more of our jungle?" Pancho asked Kassa.

    "Sure", Kassa answered.

    "There are a lot places we'd like to show you", said Nico, as he suggested the three of them go for a hike.

    Everyone agreed and had a good time touring the jungle. The three friends enjoyed other things such as a creek with a small bluff beside it. A jump and a swim in the cool creek water felt really good during that hot, African, summer morning. They also stopped at a meadow where Nico and Pancho knew where there are lots of beautiful butterflies.

    Kassa asked what kind of bugs they were, acknowledging they are pretty.

    "You didn't know these are called butterflies?" Nico asked surprisingly.

    "We don't have these kind of bugs where I come from", Kassa answered.

     "Strange", Nico thought. "Where would there not be butterflies?'

    Pancho couldn't quite figure out Kassa not knowing about buterflies either. But never the less, they have become friends.

    A short while later, the three friends meet up with four other creatures similar to Kassa.

    A large, black furred female asked something to Kassa in a language Nico and Pancho had never heard or spoken before, followed by a comment from a larger, gold furred male. Kassa answered them in the same language.

    "What did THAT mean?", Pancho asked Kassa.

    "Mom and Dad just told me about wandering off in lands strange to us", Kassa told his new found friends. "I just now apologized to them".

    "And his dad and I warned him more than once", Kassa's mom added in the Earth language known to Nico and Pancho, then asked Nico and Pancho, "And who might my son's two new animal friends be?"

    Nico and Pancho introduced themselves, then Kassa introduced his family to them: Samia, his mom, a large blacked furred female. Jemu, his dad, a big masculine male, gold furred like his son, Kassa. Sister Sassa, a younger, brown furred female. And younger brother Tito, a cute, little, black furred male.

    Nico, Pancho and Kassa told the others of the fun time they had together, and at some point during the conversation, Nico mentioned to Kassa's dad, Jemu, "We've never seen animals like you before", then asked, "Where are you from?".

    "We're above animals. And where we are from is further away than than you can even guess", Jemu replied to Nico.

    "Well, I'm a lesser oriental civet from India. You can't be from a place any further away than that", Nico retorted, so sure of himself.

    "Yes we can, and we are. Our home is that way", Jemu replied as he pointed toward a skyward location.

    "Oh come on. Do you really expect us to believe that?", Pancho asked with his arms cross folded, and a smirk on his face.

    Jemu finally said to Nico and Pancho, "Follow me. I've something to show you".

    Jemu led them to the top of a bamboo edged bluff, then pulled some bamboo aside, reveling a delta wing, interstellar cruiser that was hover parked on the flat land below.

    "IT'S...IT'S A FLYING SAUCER!", Pancho shouted as he and Nico began freaking out.

    "PANCHO, RUN!", Nico shouted as the two of them began to run off.

    "HOLD IT! STOP!", Jemu called out to them.

    Kassa, who was standing in Nico and Pancho's way, was able to get them to stop running. "What is it?", Kassa asked them.

    Half out of breath from fright, Nico and Pancho tried to talk some sense to Kassa, as Pancho told Kassa, "You're, you're you're..."

    "...From another world?", Kassa concluded.

    Then Jemu walked over and said to Nico and Pancho, "You made friends with my son earlier this morning. And now that you've found out we're from another world, you become scared of us?"

    "Nico, Pancho, I thought we were friends, "Kassa added.

    About then, Nico and Pancho were feeling really bad over how they responded about seeing the cruiser, then apologized to Kassa and his family for their reactions. Everyone were still friends.

    After Nico and Pancho's apologies were accepted, Samia mentioned to Jemu , "Now I see what they told us back home about that myth that goes around this planet".

    "Creatures from other worlds being scary", Jemu laughed.

    "Everyone here does say that", said Pancho.

    "We pretty well know that. And that's wrong", Samia assured Nico and Pancho.

    "I just thought of something Kassa's new friends and us can all do together", Jemu told Samia. "A ride in the cruiser".

    "What would say to that?" Samia asked Nico and Pancho.

    Nico and Pancho were almost speechless with excitement, as it isn't everyday that Earth creatures are offered the opportunity to get a ride in an interstellar cruiser from another planet.

     "It will be lots of fun. You'll like it", Kassa told them as everyone began their way down the bluff to get to the cruiser.

    As everyone got aboard, Nico and Pancho were amazed. This was their first time inside of an aerospace vehicle, and more so, one from another world.  Jemu mentioned to Nico and Pancho not to touch anything on the control panel, or the accessory panel, as a civet or a meerkat would have no understanding of how any of it works.

    Once everyone was aboard, Jemu closed the door and got the cruiser elevated away from the ground, using the accessory panel off to the starboard side of the pilot's seat. He then moved up the speed control lever on the control pedestal, and the cruiser was up and flying. Just a moment after take off, Jemu flew the cruiser overhead of a giraffe who took off running scared. Samia got onto him for it though.

    "I noticed Samia doesn't like that much", Nico said to Jemu as he and Pancho grinned.

    "My wife does get after me for spooking non-anthro animals with aerospace vehicles", Jemu replied to Nico.

    "And for a good reason", Samia added, "Jemu, you're going to cause one of those poor animals to have heart failure someday. Then how would you feel?"

    A few moments later, Jemu flew the cruiser over an area with some jungle and a river below.

    "Have you two ever seen a view like this before?", Samia asked Nico and Pancho.

    "Never have", Pancho answered.

    "We've only seen the jungle from the ground until now", Nico added.

    "You're about to have your first look at the universe beyond your world", Jemu told Nico and Pancho as he soared the cruiser into a skyward climb.

    They first flew through one of those "anvil head" thunderstorm clouds that had seen at a distance most of that morning. Everyone had a firstpaw look at some lightning, but all were safe from harm inside the protection of the cruiser. The cruiser is equipped with a shielding system protecting it and it's occupants from lightning strikes. When a couple of strikes struck close to the front of the cruiser, Nico and Pancho noticed how the windshield panels would momentarily darken out in the same way an automatic welder's lense does. They were certainly impressed by it. The storm turbulence wasn't even felt either. It takes more than thunderstorm turbulence to affect the flight stability of an interstellar cruiser capable of reaching ultra hyper speeds. Once out of the storm, they flew above some really fluffy clouds. Nico and Pancho commented to Kassa and his family how beautiful of a sight that was. Than they sped past those feathery shaped cirrus clouds that are made of tiny ice crystals.

    "Do you know how cold it is outside up where we are at?" Jemu asked Nico and Pancho.

    "This is summer", retorted Pancho.

    "When I use to live in India, I've been on the highlands and mountains during the summer, Pancho", Nico replied. "It get's cold high up".

    "Up here it's 40 degrees Fahrenheit". said Jemu.

    "Well that's not too bad for this high up", said Nico.

    "Below zero", Jemu continued.

    "Whoooa", both Nico and Pancho replied.

    The higher they went, the darker blue the sky looked, until they were in outer space where it looks pitch black with the vast amount of stars, many not visible from on Earth, seeming to fill the cosmos. The view was breathtaking. They had gone just far enough to where they could see the sphere shape of the Earth, looking like it was just hung there on nothing, but somehow knew where it's place in the Heavens was.

    "How fast will this airplane go?" Nico asked.

    "It's not an airplane", said Kassa. "It's an interstellar cruiser. There is a difference. And, technically, there is no set top speed on anything moving through space. Acceleration and deceleration are the capabilities. On our way here from Niyo, Dad had this cruiser up to warp 127,000".

    "What got warped?" Pancho asked.

    "And where is Niyo?" Nico asked.

    "Nothing got warped, Pancho. That's not what that means. Warp is a measure of speed in space travel", Kassa answered. "Each warp is one time the speed of light".

    "I don't guess we've ever given any thought to how fast light really is", said Nico.

    "If light could curve, which it can't, it would go around your planet over seven times in one of your Earth seconds", said Kassa.

    "I can't even comprehend anything that fast", Nico replied. "That's faster than anything I've known".

    "And you say this cruiser went thousands of times faster on it's way here?", asked Pancho. "Are they ALL that fast?"

    "Not most of them", said Jemu. "This one is among some of our world's more powerful cruisers. In fact, most inhabitants of our part of this galaxy consider this particular model as an intermediate size, cosmic hot rod".

    Kassa continued, "By the way, as for your question, Nico, as to where Niyo is. It's our home planet. Seventh planet in the Sirius system".

    "It takes nine of your Earth years for light to get from here to our planet", said Jemu. "We can be home in less than four of your Earth hours".

    "Why do you say Earth before you say seconds or hours or years", Nico asked Jemu.

    "That's because our world measure time differently than your world does", Jemu answered. "To start with, our days and nights are close to one and a half times as long as they are on your world. And one of our years is a little over three of your years".

    "Imagine that", said Nico. "An adult at six years old".

    "Well, six Niyon years", Jemu replied.

    Pancho pondered at the stars for a moment, then mentioned, "The stars...They don't look like the lightning bugs I've always thought they were".

    "Lightning bugs?" chuckled Nico as Kassa's family laughed. "Everyone knows the stars are pin holes poked into the night sky so everyone can still have light to see by at night. My mom told me that".

    Kassa and his family laughed harder, prompting Nico to wonder if his theory about the stars was no better than Pancho's "lightning bug" idea.

    "There not pin holes", Pancho insisted. "The stars are lightning bugs that flew up too high and got stuck to the sky. One of my uncles told me that, and he knows just about everything".

    By now, Kassa's family were really laughing, with Jemu and Samia saying things to each other, in their Niyon language, and laughing.

    "How can anyone believe such silly things?" Kassa's sister, Sassa, laughed.

    Even little brother, Tito, said something in Niyon then laughed.

    As soon as the laughter subsided, Kassa finally explained to Nico and Pancho that each star is a sun, with many of them having planets that revolve around them. Thus dispelling their myths about the night sky being a solid object lightning bugs can stick to, or have pin holes poked in it.

    After several minutes, Jemu whispered to his wife, Samia, in Niyon language so Nico and Pancho could not understand him, "Oanche, yuldve eid chartah Nico Pancho", which is Niyon for, "Honey, watch me mess with Nico and Pancho".

    Then Jemu nudged up the cruiser's throttle just enough to accelerate part way to light speed, just before shutting down the cruiser's engines, holding the speed he wanted. At that speed, a light wave compression effect is produced, causing objects ahead, including the stars, to appear to turn colors of indigo, violet and blue.

    "THE STARS HAVE GONE CRAZY!" Nico shouted as Kassa and his family busted out laughing, and as Pancho stood speechless with his mouth hanging open in disbelief.

    "Cauta manyee voostib, Jemu", Samia laughed, which is Niyon for, "You are terrible, Jemu".

    "The stars didn't go crazy", Jemu told Nico and Pancho as he began to explain to them the principal how light wave compression and light wave expansion causes objects to appear to change colors when you approach and depart from them at cosmic speeds.

    "As light waves are short or get compressed, the colors take on a blue or violet look. And when light waves are long or get expanded, the colors take on a red or orange look", Jemu further explained. "If this cruiser had a rear window, you would see the stars behind us as red and orange.

    Although Nico and Pancho were impressed, the basics of how light wave compression works still went a bit over their comprehension until Samia compared it for them, to the sound of an airplane flying overhead.

    "I'm sure you've noticed how the airplanes of your planet sound higher pitch when they approach, and sound lower pitch when they're flying away", Samia told them.

    "We've always noticed that", Pancho acknowledged as Nico nodded and replied, "Yea, they do".

    "It works the same way with light waves as it does with sound waves", Samia concluded. "You just have to travel at much greater speeds to see the change with light".

    "You think we should be getting our guests back to Earth?", Samia asked Jemu.

    "I guess you're right", Jemu replied. "We're already near the edge of their solar system now".

    Nico noticed Jemu pressing one of the grey buttons above the throttle control, then the sound of the cruiser's engines powering up could be heard.

    "Were the motors off?" Nico asked.

    "Yes they were. I've just restarted them", Jemu answered.

    "Uhh...But how did we keep on going with with the motors turned off?" Nico asked.

    "Now that Nico mentioned it, it doesn't make any sense. When you shut something off, it stops", Pancho added.

    "Not in outer space", said Jemu. "There's no air resistance or gravity out here. So there's nothing to slow you down. Once you get the speed you want, you shut down the engines and drift. If you leave the engines on, you'll just keep going faster and faster and faster".

    "So how do we stop?", Pancho asked.

    "I'll show you", Jemu replied as he throttled up the engines then put the cruiser into a hard bank turn, swinging the cruiser around facing the opposite direction, then giving it a brief full throttle thrust.

    "WOW! That was cool!", Pancho exclaimed.

    "That's how it's done", said Jemu.

    "That's some fancy flying I have to say", Nico added.

    "Nico, Pancho, you're on your way back to Earth", said Jemu as he sped up the cruiser back toward Earth, then shutting down the engines once he obtained the speed he wanted.

    "Does everyone on Niyo stop a space cruiser that way?" Nico asked.

    "Only if it's not equipped with braking motors like this one", Jemu answered. "When I was a cub, not very many aerospace vehicles had braking motors. But in recent years, more models have been getting built with them.

    "Hey, that's a big star", Pancho said as he pointed it out.

    "That's the sun to your solar system", said Kassa. "We're so far away from it right now, it looks small.

    "Even the rest of the stars are suns", said Kassa's sister, Sassa. "And you can't tell how big they are by how they look. Some are further away than others".

    In about the same length of time it took to get near the edge of the solar system, the cruiser with it's passengers arrived back near Earth. Jemu restarted the engines and used the hard bank turn maneuver to slow down the cruiser once they were within a hundred miles near Earth. Then he gently throttled the cruiser into a slow enough orbit to gradually make descent, then shut down the engines. While they were still fifty miles up, the Continent of Africa came into view on the Earth's horizon. They had just left from above the Western Hemisphere of Earth that was presently having night time.

    "There's your home continent straight ahead, Guys", Jemu said to their guests who were really impressed with seeing their homeland from so high up for the first time.

    "I've never known about that big blue place below us. It looks so beautiful. I'd like to visit it someday", Pancho gleefully exclaimed.

    "That big blue place is the Atlantic Ocean", Jemu informed Pancho.

    "Oh, uh, I guess I'll pass on that then", Pancho replied.

    "It looks like we're back down to the sky", Nico said as the pitch black of outer space began to give way to dark cobalt blue, and the stars were becoming less visible". A feeling of resistance against the front of the cruiser could also be felt getting progressively stronger. Jemu then restarted the engines.

    "We're now in the Earth's atmosphere", Jemu announced as the sky continued getting a lighter blue.

    "What's that aqua color glow around the cruiser?", Nico asked as a bright aqua color flared up in front of the cruiser and trailed behind it.

    "We're still going fast enough to make a burning air trail behind us", Kassa answered.

    "To anyone looking up at us from the ground right now, we look like a blue meteor speeding across the sky", Jemu added.

    "Are you going to do that cool move again to slow down?" Pancho asked.

    "We won't have to here. The air is slowing us down", Jemu answered.

    Jemu bought the cruiser down to an altitude, over Nairobi, Kenya, low enough to see the buildings, cars on the streets, people and other things including a small flea market. By now the cruiser's air speed was down to about 350 kph, and the engines were in constant use to remain airborne in the same way an airplane would be flown.

    "This is a city it's inhabitants call Nairobi", said Jemu.

    "It's the most populated place I've ever seen in my life", said Nico.

    "We've seen larger cities than this", Kassa said, as Nico replied, "Really!", and Pancho replied, "Wow!".

    "We have a few cities larger than  this one back on Niyo", Samia added.

    "I've always thought a meerkat colony was big" said Pancho. "But this city is huge".

    "Jemu, we shouldn't stay over this city too long", Samia advised her husband. "The inhabitants here might get UFO fright".

    "I would agree. Come to think of it, this cruiser really looks nothing like any Earth aircraft", Jemu affirmed.

    As Jemu steered the cruiser toward the direction of Nico and Pancho's home, Sassa noticed two jet planes in pursuit, that had momentarily come into view of the right windshield panel when her dad was making the turn.

    "I think the inhabitants already have UFO fright", Sassa informed everyone. "There now two jets after us".

    And sure enough, two F16, Kenyan Air Force, fighter jets pulled up along side the cruiser. One on each side.

    "Shouldn't we be getting out of here?", Nico asked.

    "Yea, I don't like this", Pancho added.

    "We can speed out of here before they know what's going on anytime we want", said Jemu. "Let's find out what's going on with them".

    "Well let's be careful", Samia requested, in Niyon language as not to frighten their guests. "You do know there have been crafts from some of our neighboring planets that were shot at on this planet".

    "If it looks like something's going to happen, we're out of here", Jemu assured his wife, also in Niyon. "I can promise you that".

    Jemu had Kassa try to tune in onto the Air Force Base frequency, using the cruiser's communication radio located on the accessory panel.

    One of the jet pilots radioed, "This is 10-C to Base. I am flying along side the UFO now, Sir... I see beings aboard. They look furry or something. I don't know what they are. But two of them appear to be a civet and a meerkat. Over."

    "WHAT! YOU'VE BEEN FLYING TOO LONG, GRUMWALL!", the control tower commander radioed back.

    "With all due respect, Sir. I am looking at a civet, a meerkat and unidentified furry creatures, about five of them, aboard the UFO. Over", 10-C's pilot radioed.

    "17-C to Base. I'm flying along the starboard side of the UFO, and I'm seeing the same thing, Sir", The other jet pilot radioed.

    About that time, other personnel in the control tower were finding it rather amusing. One of them even drew a quick "meerkat from Mars" cartoon on a clipboard and held it up for others to see. However, the Colonel in command of the control tower wasn't laughing. He just wanted to get to the bottom of what was going on.

    "10-C to Base. Requesting permission to go in for a closer look. Over". radioed 10-C's pilot.

    "Base to 10-C. Permission granted. But exercise caution. We don't know what this thing is, where it came from, or what it might do. Over", the Colonel radioed back.

    Then, a young, strange voice came over the Air Base Frequency, "Eid deeyah soumbeah kezza, Ladah!" which is Niyon for, "I found their frequency, Dad!", or, "I got their frequency, Dad!".

    "Base to all units! What was that mumbo jumbo coming over our frequency?!", the Colonel radioed.

    "10-C to Base. I've never heard anything like it before. Over", radioed 10-C's pilot.

    "It sure sounded like mumble to me", radioed 17-C's pilot.

    Another pilot flying in a different location also heard it, and radioed, "14-C to Base. I've visited quite a few countries in my lifetime, and I have NEVER heard a language that sounded like THAT. Over".

    Then, Jet 10-C moved closer to the cruiser as the Colonel had permitted it's pilot to do so. 10-C's pilot got a close look at everyone aboard the cruiser. And Nico and Pancho got their first look ever at a jet pilot and began freaking out. Nico and Pancho had never seen a jet pilot before and didn't know what to make of it.

    "LOOK!...LOOK WHAT'S FLYING THAT PLANE!", shouted Pancho. "IT'S GOT A SHELL FOR A HEAD!", referring to the pilot's flight helmet.

    "AND LOOK! IT'S GOT AN ORANGE BODY WITH GREY PAWS!", shouted Nico, referring to the flight suit and gloves.

    "Base to all units! Where are those animal noises coming from?!" the Colonel radioed.

    "AND IT'S GOT BIG, SHINY BUG EYES AND AN ELEPHANT NOSE", shouted Pancho, referring to the tinted goggles and oxygen mask and supply hose".

    "There it goes again! Animal noises!" radioed the Colonel.

"AND IT'S GOT ONLY ONE EAR! AND IT'S SQUARE, WITH A STICK STUCK IN IT!", shouted Nico, referring to the helmet mounted radio and mini antenna.

    "Base to units! Can anyone identify the source of the animal noises! Over", the Colonel again radioed.

    The jet pilots radioed back and reported that they had no idea where it was coming from.

    Jemu told Nico and Pancho, "Those pilots can here everything we say. We're radioed onto their frequency. I don't think they can understand what you are saying though".

    "Jemu! Do you see what's flying that plane!", Pancho frantically asked, as Nico also said, "Take a look at it! What ever it is!".

    "Yes, I see it", Jemu answered. "It's just a man. What you are seeing is his flight suit. Besides, I'm about to mess with them a bit... Yuldve preese". Yuldve preese is Niyon for "Watch this"

    While the Colonel was still trying to investigate the source of the "animal noises", Jemu broadcasted from the cruiser's radio, "Base to all units. Return to Base immediately. Over".

    Everyone aboard the cruiser busted out laughing when they heard, "17-C to Base. Did we hear you correctly, Sir? Return to Base? Over".

    "Base to all units! That's a negative! Disregard! I did not issue an order to return to Base! Over!", the Colonel angrily radioed back as the cruiser's occupants laughed even more. "And what's all that laughing?!" the Colonel further radioed.

    "Samia whispered something over to Jemu that got him to laugh. "Many of this planet's master species can't resist it" , she also told Jemu.

    "They're serving free beer at the...", Jemu radioed as everyone laughed. Then he asked Samia, "what is that place called again?'.

    "Commissary", said Samia, "They call it a commissary".

    "Free beer being served at the commissary", Jemu again radioed.

    "I wish. Over", one of the jet pilots radioed.

    The Colonel then radioed, "Damn it! The commissary doesn't serve free......IF UNAUTHORIZED PERSONS ARE ON THIS FREQUENCY, THEY BETTER GET OFF NOW!".

    Everyone aboard the cruiser were really laughing, until they heard something that got their attention.

    "17-C to Base. Requesting permission to fire on UFO. Over".

    "I didn't like the way that sounded", said Jemu as the laughter stopped.

    Kassa and his family, Nico and Pancho again heard the Colonel's voice over the radio, "Base to 17-C. Approval is required from Base Command. I will have a decision in a minute. Meanwhile, hold your fire. Over".

    "Jemu, we need to get out of here before we end up in a place like Area 51 or something", Samia told her husband. Even though she said it in Niyon, as not to frighten Nico and Pancho, they were still able to tell by the way she said it that something wasn't right.

    "What's going on?", asked Nico.

    "They want to open fire on us", Kassa replied.

    "How can that make any sense?", Pancho retorted. "Even If they COULD get a fire on us, it won't stay on the cruiser at the speed we're going".

    "That's not what that means, Sweetie", Samia answered.

    "It means they want to blow us up", Jemu added.

     "Why is it, Earth humanoids always want to destroy what they don't understand", exclaimed Sassa.

    "Letsa, roue?", which is Niyon for "Yea, why?" retorted younger brother Tito.

    Then came the moment when the mood went from ominous to serious when everyone heard, coming over the cruiser's radio, "Base to 17-C. Permission granted. 10-C, stay clear of intended target. Over".

    "That's it. We're out of here", said Jemu just before he radioed, "Been good talking to you, Fly Boy".

    "WHAT?!", came back over the radio as Jemu nudged the throttle control and the cruiser suddenly sped across the sky like lightning, carrying it's occupants to safety as it instantly disappeared from sight of the jet pilots.

    17-C's pilot had just begun radioing, "17-C to Base. Target locked on...", when the cruiser suddenly sped out of sight, leaving the jet pilots seeing only the vanishing fire trails of the cruiser's motors, and hearing multiple sonic booms echoing off of the nearby mountains.

    "...WOW! IT'S GONE! I'VE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING GO THAT FAST IN MY LIFE!", 17-C's pilot radioed, hardly believing what he had just seen.

    "10-C to Base! The speed that thing can go is not even believable! Over!", 10-C's pilot radioed.

    That incident would later become one more, added to the long list of UFO stories and rumors, that tend to get circulated around but with no tangible proof, other than eyewitness accounts, that it ever happened.

    The cruiser reached a high enough speed to leave that bright aqua, burning air trail, making it look like a meteor shooting across the sky, as it left Kenya far behind and completely crossed the airspace of neighboring Tanzania in less than a minute, as it left multiple sonic booms along the way. Everyone aboard were back to having a laugh at the jet pilots, the control tower commander becoming angry, and at the fact that Earth's technology has nothing that can keep up with them.

    "Ha Ha Ha. About now, I'd say those pilots are saying things like, It's gone, and, I didn't anything can go so fast", Jemu laughed as he began to slow down the cruiser.

    "I wonder what the looks on the faces of those jet pilots are like about now", Nico said as he was also having a good laugh.

    "One could only imagine", Kassa replied. "Once we loose them, we never see them again".

    "One thing's for sure", said Jemu. "We won't see the looks on their faces. They're about 2,000 kilometers behind us already.

    "I know just the poem for those jet pilots!", said Sassa. "Poor little billy goat, lost his master. Stuck in a moat, can't you go any faster?".

    "Oh, that's cute, Sassa", Samia said as everyone laughed. "We should radio that to them someday".

    "Eid deeyah preese! Eid deeyah preese!", little brother Tito enthusiastically announced, which is Niyon for "I got this! I got this!".

    "Nico and Pancho don't understand our language, Babe", Samia told Tito. "Speak it so they can understand you".

    "OK. Sorry", Tito said with a smile. "I got this...Uh, Mom, don't Earth humanoids wear pants?".

    "Yes they do", Samia answered her son, as Jemu commented, "They cover themselves for SOME reason", followed by Samia adding,"I know. It's very strange".

    "Then, eid deeyah...I mean, I got this", Tito said as he danced around. "GET THE LEAD OUT OF YOUR PANTS!...that's what I got".

     Everyone aboard the cruiser got a good laugh from Tito's comment, and thought it was very cute.

    Samia went on to remind everyone, "You all know that we have God to thank for our family and guests being safe from harm".

    Jemu concluded, "The fact that the humanoid beings of this planet would shoot down a craft without provocation only goes to show what a Spiritually dead civilization they are".

    "They're certainly not like the beings of the worlds WE'VE always known", Samia replied.

    Pancho mentioned something he observed when they outran the fighter jets back in Kenya. "You know, when we left those jets behind, we went at a really really fast speed, and took off really quick", said Pancho. "But it didn't actually feel like anything. There wasn't that being moved fast feeling".

    "I've noticed that from the beginning of the trip", Nico replied. "Now that Pancho has mentioned it, I'm wondering about that"

    "That's the isolated inertia system. All aerospace vehicles where we're from have it". Said Kassa. "It's an energy field that generates the cruiser's own inertia environment".

   Jemu added, "A move like the one we did back there, loosing those fighter jets, would have torn us and this cruiser to pieces without that system".

    "Kassa!", Sassa called out to her brother. "Tell them about the video they showed us in school, demonstrating isolated inertia with that wooden box on top of those sky vans".

    "Oh yea. That's really cool", said Kassa. "They first had an old worn out sky van, with a rocket installed in it, set up to run on tracks and operated by remote control. This one didn't have isolated inertia. They placed a big, wooden box on top of the old sky van. Then they powered up the rocket in the sky van, and had it take off quick enough to instantly go out of sight."

    "What did it do?", Pancho asked.

    "The sky van shot out from under the box, and the box fell to the tracks", Sassa interjected. "The inertia was so great on the sky van, it tore apart going down the tracks, then the rocket exploded".

    "Well, that's what normally would be expected to happen", Nico replied.

    "Without isolated inertia, yes. But I'm getting to the rest of it", said Kassa. "Then they put the same wooden box on top of a good sky van with an isolated inertia system. Then they had someone take off with that sky van as quickly as the rocket powered junked one did. The bottom of the box was being grabbed by the sky van's isolated inertia system, and the rest of the box was subject to outside inertia forces. And, of course, the sky van and it's pilot were OK."

    "What happened to the box", asked Nico.

    "It got strewn out into a long trail of dust and splinters", Kassa answered.

    "I guess it's time to be getting you two back home", Jemu said as he headed the cruiser back to Nico and Pancho's homeland. And what seemed like in no time at all, they were landing in the area where Nico and Pancho had first boarded.

    "Here you are back home", Jemu said to them.

    Nico and Pancho thanked the family for the ride and adventure they had just before they left the cruiser. And all the family members agreed it was it was a pleasure having them aboard, as they embraced, which means the same on Niyo, as a hand shake is on Earth.

    Once Nico and Pancho were outside of the cruiser, they briefly discussed something. Then Nico walked up to the pilot's side of the cruiser at the windshield panel and said to Jemu, "Don't take off just yet. We have something for you".

    Jemu replied, "OK. We can wait".

    A short while later, Nico and Pancho returned to the cruiser with the bag of fruit they've collected that morning as a gratuity for the good time they had.  The family was delighted with Nico and Pancho's offer. And they were surprised at how different the fruit on Earth was from the fruit they were familiar with on Niyo, but they did find it to be just as good as what they have back home. There was also plenty enough to take back to Niyo with them to share with their neighbors, friends and relatives.

    There was one funny moment when Kassa mentioned, "This yellow fruit is hard to bite".

    "Oh, that's a banana", Nico told him. "You have to peel it first".

    Nico, Pancho and the extraterrestrial family enjoyed conversation and swapping stories for a while, and enjoyed each others company as well. But later on, it was getting time for the family to head back home, as Samia had informed Jemu, in Niyon, that they needed to get the cruiser returned to the rental place back on Niyo before long. Jemu acknowledged, also in Niyon, that the late fees on the cruiser are not cheap.

    "Pancho and I can't understand you", said Nico.

    Samia told Nico, "We're renting this cruiser, and it's getting time to bring it back".

    "What's wrong with it?", Nico asked, as Pancho added, "It seems like it runs OK to me".

    Jemu laughed, and said, "Nico, Pancho, renting means it doesn't belong to us, but arrangements were made for us to borrow it for a while".

    "The cruiser's fine", Samia told Nico and Pancho. "It's just getting time to bring it back to those who own it".

    "Will we ever see you again?", Nico asked.

    "There will be times we'll be back here again", Jemu answered.

    "Ladah", Kassa called out to Jemu, which is Niyon for "Dad". "The next time we are here, can we let Nico and Pancho come with us to visit Niyo?".

    "Wow. THAT would be an experience. A trip to another world", Nico said as Pancho added, "Can't say I've been to another world before".

    "Mom, Dad, can they?!", Sassa asked as Tito jumped up and down, cheering.

    "I see no problem with it", Jemu agreed.

    "I would love to have them visit us", said Samia. "But I would feel better if we'd first consult a biologist who knows about Earth creatures. We should be sure that our planet's atmosphere won't harm Nico and Pancho. And we should find out if they need any vaccines before they come over".

    "That does make sense when you consider this planet's air is a little bit different", Jemu replied.

    It was finally time for the family to be getting back to Niyo if they were going to get the cruiser returned to where they rented it from on time. So Nico and Pancho, and the family embraced, and bided fare well for now. Then Kassa and his family boarded the cruiser, to begin the trip back to Niyo. Everyone waved as the cruiser levitated up into the air, then Nico and Pancho watched the cruiser fly away. And when Jemu throttled up the cruiser, it instantly shot out of site, and it wasn't long before the cruiser was carrying the family back home to Niyo at 127,000 times faster than the speed of light. They would be home in a few hours.
