Indeed! The characters are cutely drawn (and just plain cute), and the facial expressions, shadows, and reflections in the two pictures really help the scenes come to life.

rofl I was really fighting to make that stupid reflection look good like twisting my hands all around to make sure the angles were correct haha. TOO MANY CALCULATIONS FOR MY BRAIN. And I almost forgot I had to change the entire chess board and flip the black and white squares DERP

So. . can we expect the two to be overrun by zombies in the coming image then? ;P People see Mustachio, but did no one caught the gnome yet? I remember the gnome, cause I was stuck holding him! (PS: its an achievement to finish the level with the gnome)

Lovely. Also, a wonderful breath-taker from the usual porn. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but show's you can be awesome at more than just porn. ^_^

I don't mean to nitpick, but there's a line on Leon's arm that makes it look like it's bending the same way in the mirror as it is in the foreground. Right inside the elbow.

Yeah, whether you view it as unfortunate or not the reality is that doing this stuff I've got to do what I can to budget the time I spend so my clients don't feel ripped off and sometimes that means little details get missed. I figured that as long as the reflection looked convincing at a glance it would be good enough - and I did in fact spend more time than I probably ought have on it - but I figured that if neither Leon nor I could see any glaring faults in a passing glance then it would pass most viewers' litmus test. Obviously you decided to study it more closely, and I'm flattered that you care enough to look so close, but yeah. I try not to sweat the small stuff unless it's a big deal to the client. If Leon had asked me to spend more time on it I'd have been more than happy to, but it is what it is. ^^;

I think everyone would be well aware that in any image you can always spend more time on it and make it even more awesome. However, when you have limited time you have to draw a line as to what details are genuinely important. To me, the important part is the two characters engaging in a fun activity. Other people may have a different answer, especially if they don't know either of the characters depicted. I can clearly see that you're answer would be "Screw the characters! The orientation of the chessboard is the most important thing!" To which I would say, "You're wrong."

I payed for two characters to be drawn, not a chess board. If this doesn't meet your expectations I'd happily invite you to search for other chess boards on Inkbunny.

I meant no disrespect of any kind. I was merely curious because I can be a stickler for detail. That is all. It's still a great piece regardless. It was merely just a question of interest, that was all. :(, I sometimes forget that these pieces are time constrained so it never occurred to me that this might of been the reason.

Haha, Leon may not have been the most diplomatic with his answer but here's the answer to your questions. First, it's impossible to incorrectly orient a chess board because no matter which side you sit at the squares are the same. They're far enough into the game that it can be assumed the pieces aren't in their original positions anyways. Second, although you and your friends might remove pieces to the side of the board, they might put them back in the box offscreen. I'll also give a more practical answer, it would have taken a long time to render all the pieces and there was other stuff Leon wanted drawn, so I omitted them for time. Thirdly, the characters are the focal point of the image - the chess board is center stage yes, but the picture isn't about the activity being performed, it's about the interaction of the two characters. The chess board is was drawn to pass a brief visual scan - correct number of squares, obvious incoming checkmate - and it doesn't need to serve a purpose any grander than that. :)

I guess I didn't really think about it when I asked the question. I get so bogged down on detail sometimes that I forget the more relevant part of a piece of art that I'm working on and I also forgot that these are time constrained. I've got a terrible memory ^///^

The chess board is reversed. "white on right" the white corner should be on the right side of each player. This bothers me.
