This work has been inspired by a great but sad story and stories I was told by a member of my family that served in WW 1 .
And yea the picture looks at a slight angle, The is not the final product,  I'm trying to think how to add the person seeing the soldier from their angle.

(Also I need to say sorry for the post  NOTHING it was a very bad day and seemed like anything set me off in the wrong way.)

Only to have that same ground in some cases lost within a few days.

Glad to see you shook it off and reposted this.

As for the Nothing post, those who will object to art in any form, simply because they object to subject matter deserve exactly that;  Nothing!

WWI was such a harsh war. Good work, even if it isn't finished.

Is this the image that was complained about? Why?

Probably because it's of a German soldier not being pointlessly moustache-twirlingly mwahahahaa evil. :P

My Great Grandfather served in the Imperial Army of Germany at the western Front, he was forced to kill his best friend after a Gas Attack, the poor bastard got a bullet hole in his filter and letting him die slowly... my Great Grandfather couldn´t let him die like that...

Anyway, a very well done piece of art. I am fed up with the War glorifying Art other ppl create. You have create a well balanced setting here, even if I think that his uniform looks a bit too clean for my taste. For everything else, my compliments, you made a fantastic job.

I'm glad you posted this back up. You probably saw what I wrote on the other post, but I'll just say that there's plenty of room for images like this. Too much room, really, because it's too seldom seen what goes on inside the man under the uniform.

I'm reminded of the song "The Trooper" looking at this.

Intense picture... fraught with overwhelming emotion and a surrogate will to honor the memories of our befallen ancestors (especially great-grandparents) in the aftermath of this terrible endless war. A thousand honors to you for having taken the will to draw something so poignant, so heartfelt, so... incredible. <3 I have a newfound respect for you based upon this piece of staggeringly meaningful artwork.

Please don't let the abysmal jibber-jabber of fiendish non-complacents ridicule your will to thrive artistically. You have every right and freedom to post this as much as any writer who freely proclaims statements such as: "MURDER BUSH - EAT CHENEY - SHOOT PALIN - BURN THE GOP" on a regular basis - at least you're presenting a thoroughly detailed image based on your family member's own personal testament. More power to them for sharing their harrowing war-time experience and more power to you for presenting an ideal image that says "You've seen the uniform, now behold the innocent captive soul from within it."

KUDOS, KUDOS and KUDOS to you, fellow artist. :3

It's interesting that you jump from someone bitching about a drawing of a german soldier to you bitching about lib'ruls.  Makes me wonder about your motivations.
