happens on DA XD

Maybe one day they will understand XD (i mean the requesters who you don't know, who suddenly appears and tell you "do you do requests?.." without even ask about yourself or say "hi".. lol

...why is so hard to understand for some people? even if you have the chance to and time to do it for a random guy.. (must confess i did it before..) you can't do it always ...heheh.. it surprise me to know when they surprise about being rejected XD

(maybe i wasn't so nice with the guy.. i think i like him.. it's just i found so funny he ask himself that.. i think my example can't be more easy to understand)

So.... that means... yes to requests?

*snickers* In all seriousness, I actually did that once... and nearly slapped myself in the head afterward after actually thinking about what I was asking for.

heh, I know what you mean.
It's why I dont ASK for requests.... I wait till they say 'now taking requests' or whatever and ask politely.

Oh and I highly doubt that people over at dA will get the hint because a good majority of the members have mental conditions :O

Well. It is funny how often I see people complaining if they are rejected. When I ask why they got rejected, the most seen answer is I wanted it for free.
I find it kind of disrespectful to ask an artist for a FREE work, since the artist sacrifices his time for you.
If I ever should ask an artist here for a request my first question is what do you wan't for it, since I know how hard it is sometimes to do a picture. Sometimes I even witnessed that the people who got the request done where then unhappy with it, since some minor detail was not how they imagined it. Kind of sad if you think about it.

Not Many artist would do free artwork unless it someone they know personally.

Like sega who stop doing their own game consoles and now making games for the other game system out there. I have retired from Fanart and resume doing Fanfics Like I always do. It's because of a Certain person who keep botheing me for some PnF art or Fanfics when I have own my ideas to do. So I blocked him from FA, DA, Youtube, Phototbucket and Facebook

People need to follow my two step program.
1) Become friends
2) FREE ART!
3) ?????

the 3 would be thanking the artist who did the Job.
seriously i Saw people that asked for something and them when the Artist finally finishes the person just Vanishes..
It isn't cool when you put a lot of effort on something for someone and the person just go poof!

I know. I know. But I don't really do that.
But, I do know people who start (Or try to start) friendships with artists whose art they like for the purpose of free and gifted art.
What ISN'T cool is saying "I can't pay for art!" in a thread consisting of people who also can't pay for art...And then having a gallery of 100+ gifted pics.
I'm looking at you, Zearoth...

Oh, anyway, yeah. Thanking the artist is a nice thing to do.

Those are people that haven't had their hopes and dreams or happy assumptions of the world destroyed yet you know? XD
I mean naivety, youth and man-babies that don't know famous people cannot be kind to masses of people.

Kind of sad really, I would like to be nice to everybody but I literally can't afford it =/

Well, you know, it IS true that there aren't many good artists that take requests, and when they DO, they're rather snobby about it and won't take requests from certain people and will hold spots open for particular artists.

Right on !  I don't even consider my self that talented, yet even I get, and hate this question.
To quote Heath Leader's Joker " If your good at something never do it for free."

Too funny.  So for the most part, what kind of prices are you asking for doing that kind of work?  I don't believe in freebees.

I had a misunderstanding about that happen to me once when I was trying to commision an artist and they assumed I was making a request. XD

If I wanted somebody to do a request for me I'd  a) know them very good or b) do something for them too! (even if it isn't drawing. I am still waiting for the day I help somebody on the internets with PC stuff and he congratulates me with an image!)

It sounds so much like Stranger: "Excuse me, can you take care of my garden for free?" XD

that's why it's important to be considerate. most people want you to do a request that's hard as shit to do... hopefully the one I had asked for wasn't too painstaking with all of those colors.

While I agree with you, perhaps you could just accept all requests because they're just that; requests!

Doesn't mean you have to do them. In fact you never have to do them. :p

pretty straight forward eh? I know you guys commonly do commissions, I bet the only requester your accept is your partner in crime? o3o you know who I'm talkin about :3
RyuuKishi

You missed the chance to get him around to maybe comission you xD

BTW requests can be fun, and once i am in art-block-state they can give me good impressions.

Depending on the request that is.

Instead of requests, people should just give suggestions. There's a big difference between asking for something to be done and suggesting ideas meant for inspiration.

men these days realy have to be more friendly, respecting others jobs before asking them for more is the least they can do!
Wren

Haha, agreed. Some people don't think about how much work goes into art. Or if a person does take requests they probably don't have much other work to worry about and like to appease others!

request plz!

my request is a very simple one, big bold letters underlined and in a font of your choice saying "not in your fucking lifetime am I taking your requests!"

that way you can link 4 lolz

Hey, Can you give me some free art?
Nah just kidding. I would get peeved if I had to come across that 24/7.
AlexReynard

Fully agreed.

However, when people ask if I do requests, I will usually tell them to give me their idea. I make it clear that I will consider it, and I have no idea if I'll actually draw it or not. This is just in case someone has an idea that I really would enjoy drawing (and sometimes they do!). However, if they give me any whining about 'Why haven't you drawn it yet!?' I remind them I never promised to, and tell them to go away.
