Background/History

Eggman needed a magical creature to operate Gemini's wand for a scheme. Char's Chao colony was living on the island where he wanted to put his base. In exchange for putting a Chao Garden in the base, Char joined Eggman and started working for him.

I can never fully make up my mind what Char looks like. Basically, he's a red Chao. Jury's out on whether he's a Dark Chao or a neutral Chao. This pic would suggest Dark Chao, I guess.

Dr. Eggman arrived at the island where his Chao colony lived one day, with plans to build a base. Char instantly took a liking to him, and started following him around. Eventually, Eggman got ahold of Gemini's wand, and learned that Char could use it. (probably because he started playing with it) So, Eggman made Char his lackey, at first intending to use him solely for a particular plan, but after realizing that Char made a good gofer, he kept him around. Char also tends to act as Alpha's babysitter after Sonic damaged Alpha's mechanical "brains", leaving Char the more focused and intelligent one.
