Ok I've been in a Fantasy mood lately been developing an idea for a Fantasy universe taking a bit of inspiration from HellBoy. First some in for on the Elves of this world and then some specifics on this character.
The Elves are one of the many peoples of Earth. Physically quite similar to humans even in variety but different at their core. The Elves have a deep bond with nature and the forest in general. Their affinity for magic is most obvious and is linked to their connection with nature. As such any Elf in a forest has few worries. They can make various bushes spring to life with berries and bring to the surface sap or water from trees. Legend has it that humans observing this were inspired to try and achieve it as well and invented agriculture. Beyond this when an Elf dies their magic alters the remains. Bones turn to wood and the flesh dissolves away into the ground prompting various plants to grow. Legend has it that this effect is so powerful that even in the desert their magic will find a way to make water reach these plants and that the Oasis of the deserts are the grave sites of fallen Elves. Culturally they are a proud and noble people who care a great deal for the world. Their lives are not all that different from humans though Elves have significantly longer life spans and employ their magic to solve issues more often than technology. The Elves are ruled by the Seven Elven Lords. One for each continent who is elected by his or her subjects. These seven together form the Elven council which itself is lead by the High Chancellor who serves a position of negotiation between the Lords. Elven relations with the other races tend to be good though the Dwarves and Gnomes still have not recovered from the Great Conflict. This leads to theri relationship with humans. In ancient times humanity lived among the Mythic races and there was peace for a time. But as they grew in number and began absorbing some of the Dwarves and Gnomes into their own species they became more aggressive annexing lands from the Dwarves and Gnomes and instigating the Great Conflict. The Elves became involved in the war and eventually negotiated a treaty. Humanity would have free reign to explore and wonder where they may but could not take a land that already belonged to another. The Elves for their part would stay out of their way. The Dwarves and Gnomes fewer now in number after loosing so many to the war Isolated themselves. Thusly humanity spread forth across the globe and as the millennia past slowly forgot about the treaty or even the existence of the other races. This brings us to modern Relations. The Elves have slowly been growing more tired and frustrated with an ever expanding humanity who's actions are slowly killing the planet. There have been multiple talks of war so far held at bay by the simple fact that despite their magic the humans still have the numbers to beat them. This has not stopped some from taking covert actions or from searching out a possible alley.
Temrai Seldroven walked his usual patrol through the fields of the forest wearing his usual armor. It was Ebony armor made from the wood Ever Bloom trees. When the wood was tempered and treated just right it hardened into a substance which was light and extremely durable. Humans might compare it to carbon fiber. Humans. They were on Temrai's mind. Talk of war with them. He felt uneasy. For all his skill with his swords and dash of magic he knew he still didn't like it. That said he could see many of the Lords' points. He sighed thinking about the stories of the Great Conflict his grandmother had told him. She had fought in it and described the battles vividly. Any War with the humans now was likely to be just as bloody. Temrai stopped and looked back at the nearby pond hearing the splashing and playing of children. A small Elven family enjoying the nice day in a secluded area. The father waved to him. Temrai waved back politely before continuing. They were why he became part of the Elven guard. To protect people like them. If war came he'd do just that. He'd fight to protect his people. But he'd follow his grandmother's example. Always give a chance for surrender.
Well hope you guys liked the pic and the lil story. ^^
