Before Nick can start his journey to learn more about the world and the people, animals and other things that live in it he first has to get his first pokemon that will be his loyal nakama for the way ahead. Nick can't really figure out which one to choose but when he approaches the table with the balls prepared by Professor Oak, one ball hops off and opens and a Pikachu just jumps onto Nick, hugging him tight and smiling and sparkling happily.
So apparently Nick didn't have to choose a Pokemon but the right one chose him...
