This is The Steve, a character I use in my Crushed: the Doomed Kitty Adventures role-playing games.

He's a White Litch, meaning that he was risen to Undeath after an experiment backfired, which itself was caused by a minor god telling a very bad joke. In life he was a wizard of unimaginable power who sought to unlock the mysteries of the universe, as well as the fabled "Toto's Recipe for Sweet & Sour Sauce." In undeath, he's cursed to suffering a living nightmare of Adventurers accosted and assaulted by Adventurers, whom are constantly breaking into his tower and stealing his possessions, all because he's a member of the living dead.

He still a student of the arcane, but his attention has turned from unlocking obscure secrets (such as if a tree falls in the woods and no one is around, does it make a sound?) to trying to find a "cure" for his condition that does not involve permanent death. Though, even he has to admit his current condition is not all that bad; he doesn't need to eat, sleep, or use the bathroom. Not to mention that he can't truly die; then again, he can't use the Temple of 1000 Lives like he used to, either...
