The mind is a powerful thing. What a fully intact mind can conjure up is nothing short of amazing, doubly so if said mind is fractured and triply so is that fractured mind is trying to repair itself...

The nightmarish take on Lewis Carroll's Wonderland that American McGee presented us all those years ago is one of the best examples of this. A dark, bitter realm of a broken psyche trying to repair itself, with the Mad Hatter being it's terrifying yet logical conclusion to that or trying to seize control by forcibly removing all semblance of childish hope and replacing it with cold, hard automation to simply keep itself alive. It is the harsh reality of forcing a child to grow up to life's hard truth and in of itself it is still mad, despite it's own logic for it is rejecting that which made it human in the first place...

Now what if we took that dark interpretation of Wonderland and brought it back to it's whimsical, childish roots? An artificial mind plagued with adult knowledge but with no tools to help it understand such concepts. It's only choice is to revert back to childlike wonder. It is all mouth, but must not scream. It is fun and joy and never ending wonder but at the price of knowing too much. So what are we to do? Accept cold, hard logic and deny our base human wonder lust, or delve into the rabbit hole of delusion where nothing can harm us but ourselves?

All of this to say-- big silly robot top hat men. One dark and logical, the other bright and silly. That's all there is to it...or is it?
