Character Description
Overall: Western dragon, predominantly royal blue in color. Strong color value, very little gray. Most of body is covered by small, soft scales that glisten and sparkle lightly in a metallic manner. Scales gradually fade to smooth, leathery hide and are not present on paws (below elbow/knee), face, belly, chest and underside of tail.
Head: Long, rounded but slightly pointed muzzle, overall shape vaguely horselike. Green catslit eyes, silver feathered mane and goatee, small nose horn and four horns on back of head (see below).
Horns: Gunmetal gray horns are present; a short, triangular one atop the nose and four at the back of the head. The nose horn is short and slightly curved backward. The ones at the back of the head appear as two sets, one above the other, with the top set being the larger. The larger top set are predominantly straight except for a slight angle upward halfway along their length. This angle is more pronounced on the bottom of the horn, while only manifesting as a slight curve on the top. The bottom set of horns is about half the length of the top set and does not contain the angle, simply a straight taper.
Ears: Forward of the horns, long and pointed, with a corner that folds over about a third of the way out. Expressive and posable, can perk up to convey interest and attention, or lay back to convey fear or submission. Outside of ear is royal blue. Inside of ear is pink near the base/opening, fading to a muted violet out toward the tip that approaches the blue of the outside.
Eyes: Friendly and honest-looking usually. Bright green, pupil black and slitted like a cat's.
Tongue: Pink, pointed, not forked.
Nose: Two slit nostrils.
Scutes: Slightly tough overlapping diamond-shaped scutes/plates in gunmetal gray start small at throat, travel down to get slightly larger at chest, and end below the sternum area.
Mane: A light white/silver mane is present covering the top of the head, running down the back of the neck, shoulders, upper arms, back, hips, and the upper 2/3rds of the tail. The mane is made up of soft, downy fluffy feathers, except on the back of the head where longer, stiffer feathers more like wing primaries form a crest that acts as a slight rudder in flight. Shape/size of crest in proportion to head resembles blue jay or cardinal. Also, a small soft beard tuft in the same silver color is present on the chin.
Wings: Wing arms and digits are the same royal blue as the rest of the body. Membranes are light gray on the underside and darker gray on the top, both with a slight cyan metallic shimmer in direct light. Four long wing digits and one short 'thumb' digit. Small, stubby gunmetal gray claws present on all five digits. Membrane is leathery, stretchy, and connects to body down around the hips.
Paws: Digitigrade, four fingers/toes and one thumb/dewclaw. Digits end in large, soft, shiny, leathery black pawpads and curved gunmetal claws. Paws in proportion to rest of body are very slightly large, though not enough to appear overly cartoony. Feetpaws/hindpaws contain a small vestigial heel pad and a short dewclaw on the inside of the paw that doesn't normally touch ground. Dewclaw has a short claw and small pad.
Tail: Feathered mane covers the top of tail 2/3rds of the way down its length. Tail is thick at base and tapers to a point, where a gunmetal gray arrowhead-shaped tailspade is present.
