I never heard of nor knew the existence of this character until I played the game "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge" nearly two years ago and I grew up watching the TMNT up till the early/mid 2000s. She's from the 80's version of the TMNT which was the one I watched the most during the 90s before the show later inherited a more mature artstyle years later and she was literally only featured in one episode because of the bad timing. The 1980s showcased cartoons and movies featuring the badass action hero types like Rambo, The Terminator, Last Action Hero, G.I Joe, He-Man, Transformers and other "bad dude" male figures usually featuring military settings that had more focus from younger males watching them. The animators believed that she wouldn't fit into any future episodes of the time because, in short, she wasn't male. She did come back in a couple of the future TMNT shows as years went by, but they heavily changed her appearance several times which I don't like personally. Her 80s version is more superior imo.

Fast-forwarding all the way to 2024, a new TMNT game came out that was a very strong callback to 80s/90s TMNT arcade gaming which had that fun and silly 80s flare the original TMNT had. The artstyle, character designs, New York setting, music, level designs, boss intros, combat and such all closely matches how old TMNT arcade games used to be with a few new twist. Mona Lisa and Mondo Gecko were later featured in one of the DLC packs called "Radical Reptiles" which is how I found out about her then proceeded to look her up afterwards. The game is a huge amount of fun with good replayabilty so after seeing Mina I had to begin drawing a series of pics on her since she's easy to draw.
