It was late one night, when Ince had a nightmare of losing his parents from the storm, and he decided to get up from his sleeping bag and have a glass of water from the kitchen, when he started hearing Feathers and Slither talking about him, and Ince could hear Feathers' emotional statement, as he sounded upset at knowing how the pup felt from losing his parents, and he could hear Slither assuring Feathers that he would do whatever he can to help the poor puppy. This brought tears to Ince's eyes, whether from missing his parents, or feeling hope of being family again.
And yes, that diaper Ince wore was a cloth diaper.
