Somewhere, I think it was in Star Trek (TOS/TMP) or in the Movie D.A.R.Y.L, I remember it being said "(An Artificial Life Form) becomes human when you can no longer tell the difference."
That proposes a very thick and blurry line between what is "Human" and what is not.
