Commission for an off-site client

Being a neat freak isn't easy when you're a rat, but it's even harder when you're a rat during the 1300s near the beginning of the Black Death...

I am told that her story is one that eventually leads to romance between her and a human male. There is no kiss that tranforms her into a human either... so... you know... a peak story. v.v

(Afaik the story has not been written yet, but if it does get written/posted anywhere in the future, I will link it here.)

Ty! Yeah I didn't have any references for her, so I was essentially designing her from scratch. Considering her story, I imagined a sort of 'rags to riches' style where she went from making her own dresses from whatever she could find (that was clean,) and then one day being able to afford nicer materials~

That's a great progression! And you did a really good job on designing her, too! I love that little nick in her ear, I just love details like that which tell a story all on their own, and she just seems so cheerful despite the undoubtedly difficult times she's been going through.

I mean, seriously, with that cute ballerina pose in the third picture, or that Arabian Nights-esque style of the last picture, how could anyone not love her? >^_^<
*whispers* Besides, it's a fact it were not the rats that spread the Black Death, it were the fleas living on the rats, so... she keeping herself so clean, she's totally fine and safe! >^_^<

Aye, the client told me to put a small nick in her ear, but not where, so I figured the tip was ideal, as you said, tells a story of maybe barely getting away from a trap or a cat or something. :3

Yeah, I have a feeling like a detail like that helps her maybe be seen as... idunno, different from the other rats and maybe also leading towards her eventual romance... or something.

I quite enjoy these kinds of commissions, as they give a great idea of what you can do in different poses and even tell a story of sorts which you've done in the past and some of them are outright amusing as hell. Each pose and expression is unique and I feel that while different ones have various amounts of directions, you are able to be creative as to what each of those will be.

The story sounds really impressively forward thinking and almost like one that would never get made today unless it was something indie by a small team, because I can only dream of what the production crews would say (So this is furry wank bait, eh?) were it coming from any other sizable animator studio, never mind the major ones.

Yeahhh mainstream studios are cowards and never let an interpsecies relationship blossom (at least not when a human is involved.) X3
I always hated the end of Beauty and The Beast for this reason. She spends the entire movie falling in love with the beast for who he is, not what he looks like, and then the lesson is just... immediately undone as he transforms into a human again....

Meanwhile this story would show that love could transcend not only a species boundary, but bloom during a time when as a rat, her kind would be very despised by the humanity around her. I always root for a story like that, so this commission was definitely up my alley for multiple reasons~

Hey this sounds really cool and cute! I hope I can get to read it at some point.
But I think it's kind of refreshing to see that the cute, smol rodent girl is a rat considering how in real life, pet fancy rats are extremely affectionate towards humans more then mice actually.

As for the story, he said that "creative writing is a weakspot" so I wouldn't expect the story anytime soon, but we'll see!
