Altaria?s Long Slumber

By Sokz

She dreamed of flying. Her huge, fifty meter tall body soared amongst the clouds as sunlight glittered through their forms, creating rainbows as the rays refracted through tiny water droplets. Rainbow Peng smiled as she drifted through them without a care. Below her, the world was beautiful. Rivers of sparkling water cut through great plains of green grass and thick trees. Mountains rose above prairies with white tops and windswept sides. Oceans extended from their shores and continued all the way to the unseen horizon.

Rainbow Peng breathed deeply. She could taste the salty sea air even as she glided hundreds of feet above the surface. Pokemon danced in the waves below her. A Wailord breached the surface and shot water from its blowhole, where it rained down on a group of other water Pokemon. A few Magikarp leapt into the air around it and enjoyed the spray.

This was a beautiful dream. She had it often, but she never grew bored with the sensation of the wind ruffling her cloudy feathers. As an Altaria, she loved soaring more than anything else in the world.

Then she felt a slight tickle on one wing. She brushed it off and tried to ignore it. There were so many more interesting things to focus on, like the deep canyons below her filled with ground and rock type Pokemon of all shapes.

The tickle came again, this time on her back. She shifted in her sleep and tried to brush the minor annoyance away. This dream was too beautiful to lose. But the tickles kept coming, stronger and stronger until she couldn't ignore them anymore. Rainbow Peng opened her eyes and gave an annoyed sigh. Who disturbed her slumber?

She rose from her curled-up position and found her sleeping chambers similar to how she remembered, but subtly different. The wood that made up the old temple had changed color, going from a bright red to a washed-out beige. Statues stood at the corners of the room with slight stains on their stone surface. How long had they rested there?

Rainbow Peng blinked slowly as she took in more of the real world. She'd been asleep for a long time, perhaps years, and time moved on around her. At least her size was consistent. She towered over the monks who looked at her with awe, and the trio of aggressive Pokemon who stood in front of her in battle formation, their trainers just behind them.

She knew their stances, but she did not recognize the clothes they wore. No one in her memory had outfits such as these humans. Their Pokemon were familiar enough, though she didn't care for their angry expressions.

A Blaziken, an Exploud, and an Aggron. These three Pokemon were strong, a fact made clear by the presence they exuded through the temple. Flames licked at the Blaziken's limbs as it waited for its next command, while the Aggron glittered in the temple's dim lighting. Were these the cause of the irritating tickles in her dream?

``Go!'' the trainer behind the Blaziken shouted. ``This is our chance to prove ourselves. If we can defeat the legendary giant Altaria, we'll be famous! Blaziken, use Blaze Kick!'' The fire Pokemon charged forward as soon as the order was given. He jumped into the air, spun as flames erupted from his legs, then slammed his foot into her chest.

Yes, that was the tickle she felt. The Blaziken kicked off her and landed on the ground a few feet away. The trainer flinched as he looked up at her. ``Uh...'' he stammered.

The other two were faster to recover from the shock. ``Exploud, use Boomburst!'' the second trainer shouted.

``Aggron, Iron Tail!'' Called the third.

The two Pokemon unleashed their attacks, but they had as much of an effect as the Blaziken. They harmlessly bounced off her feathers and retreated to their trainers.

No matter how much time passes, some things stay the same. There were powerful Pokemon and humans that wanted to defeat her for wealth and fame back in the past, there were those who tried to fight her now, and there would be others in the future. A shame and an annoyance, but they were always so easy to deal with.

She took aim at the Exploud and Aggron, then unleashed a devastating counter. Waves of purple and blue energy exploded from her open mouth, enveloped the Aggron and Exploud, and threw them backwards. The back wall of the temple shattered as the wave of energy carried them clean through it. Beyond, the city's streets buckled, and countless more buildings broke apart.

Her Dragon Pulse still had all the strength she remembered. She hopped to her feet with a proud expression on her face, then stretched her wings as far as the temple would allow. It felt good to move after so many years.

``B... Blaziken,'' the first trainer stammered. She turned to him, having almost forgotten he was there. ``Blaze... Blaze... No, we have to think of something else! Come on!'' He turned and ran. She allowed him to escape through the broken section of the wall. There were more interesting things to focus on anyway, like the strange sight she saw beyond the temple.   Gusts of wind billowed around her as she flapped her mighty wings and propelled herself upward. She crashed through the temple's roof and landed on the broken wall, her eyes squinting against the sun's bright glare as she took in a world she did not recognize.

This used to be an isolated temple built in the mountains, far away from human civilization. That's why she liked it. It was natural, with countless different Pokemon in the surrounding wilderness. Now, all she saw were houses and buildings.

Ugly ones, too. They all had that distinctly human sense of design, with plain white walls or roofs made of tile. There were dozens of streets with loud, smelly cars driving and honking at each other. Swarms of humans packed together and walked as though they were one fluid mass with handfuls of Pokemon spread between them.

It was disgusting. Where were the lakes she remembered? Where were the Pikachu that played in the trees, or the Oddish that wandered around in the sun?

If this is what the world had become, she was displeased. Before she could wonder what to do about it, a call from the street below drew her attention. ``Alright, Blaziken!'' the trainer from before yelled. ``It's time to Mega Evolve!'' The trainer hit something on his wrist, then a rainbow light surrounded the tiny Pokemon.

For the first time since waking up, Rainbow Peng saw something beautiful. The Blaziken's transformation was radiant, and the form it took when it finished was far more interesting than what it was before.

The moment of wonder was replaced by disappointment when it shot a Fire Blast at her. She casually lifted her wing and brushed the attack aside. What a shame for something so beautiful to be used in such a gross way.

blasted the Blaziken, the human behind him, and the rest of the nearby city with

another Dragon Pulse. Stones flew into the air as the street disintegrated. The nearby apartment buildings shuddered and broke apart. People screamed. Some turned and ran through the street in horror, while others fell to their knees in shock. Smoke and haze billowed from the areas of destruction as she looked on with growing interest.

With a flap of her wings, she made her decision. She'd just have to clean up the mess these humans had made, one house at a time.

She hopped off the tower and landed with a heavy SLAM on some of the nearby houses. As soon as she did, she felt the radiant gemstone around her next pulse with power, and it increased her height slightly. It always reacted whenever she performed a good act in the world, even when she first found it after it crashed from the heavens all those years ago.

The next few buildings broke as easily as the first. All she had to do was place her foot on top of them and push down with even the smallest bit of force. Their walls shattered, their floors crumbled, and they broke apart like dried leaves in the fall. People and Pokemon scurried out of her way as she continued down the street, stomping on each building as she came to it. She didn't pay much attention to them. After all, they couldn't do anything to hurt her.

She hopped back and forth, flew into the air, then slammed back down with enough power to create a small impact crater. Electric wires burst apart and sent sparks of electricity through the air while broken water mains created geysers that slowly flooded the streets. People drove by in their flashy cars in a desperate attempt to escape her rampage.

Curious, Rainbow Peng leaned down and scooped one of the cars into her beak. It was a shiny red one with bright headlights and a sleek design. Before today, she never saw a car or anything close to it. She wondered how it would taste.

Her beak came down and broke it apart in an instant. The metal exterior bent and ripped apart as the windows shattered and the complicated machinery inside hissed and wailed. She bit down twice more, then gulped it into her belly. It didn't taste bad. If anything, there was a bit of a sweet tang to it once she tried to notice.

She'd have to keep that in mind as she continued.

More houses and buildings fell as she moved through the city. She used her Dragon Pulse whenever there were too many of them packed together. Each attack was devastating for the town and caused entire blocks to be ripped from the world and flung into the air, where they then rained down on the city beyond.

Within a few minutes, a brown smog hung over the city from the numerous fires and all the dust kicked up by her rampage. She sighed. At least when there were forest fires, the smoke cleared pretty quickly.

Eventually, she made her way to the outskirts of town, where a few different railroads intersected at a large station. She looked down at it with mild interest, mostly because its glass roof reflected her rainbow feathers. She still looked as beautiful as ever, even if she had to view herself through such an unsightly reflection.

A single stomp was enough to shatter the roof and cause shards of glass and broken steel to rain down on the platforms below. She smiled as she stomped across the large building, then lifted her foot above one of the engines still sitting in the station. Even something as powerful as a train broke apart when confronted by the unimaginable power of her footstep.

laughed as she stomped on it again and again, breaking it apart more until it was

reduced to chipped metal and burning machinery. These humans couldn't build anything strong enough to resist her.

Rainbow Peng stopped as she felt something sharp tickle her backside. She turned to find a single human dressed in blue and white standing behind her with an Arcanine at his side. The man wore a policeman's uniform and had his weapon aimed at her chest. ``Arcanine!'' he shouted. ``Flamethrower!'' The Pokemon jumped forward and unleashed a breath of fire, but just like the others, it failed to even singe her plumage.

Why were there so many fire-type Pokemon? She didn't remember this region of the world having too many of them. It didn't matter. If these people wanted to know the true power of a fire-type attack, she could show them.

She spread her wings and made the air tremble with the raw might of the attack she was about to unleash. The policeman stepped backward as his face turned to fear. Her body began to glow orange and red, then she unleashed a blaze upon the town that created an inferno. Houses were set on fire for miles in every direction, while trees were stripped bare and streets blackened.

The sky turned red as everything around her burned and melted. The Arcanine's Flamethrower was pathetic, while her Fire Blast was beautiful. She smiled as she watched the flames change color as they moved across the town. Most were orange and red, though some burned blue, green, and yellow.

At least something beautiful could come out of this town.

Some parts of the countryside were nice and still had the natural beauty she valued so highly, but most of it was pockmarked and marred by human development. She couldn't fly over a mountain without being assaulted by the sight of a blinking radio tower, the smell of cars driving on a highway, or the sound of a train horn as it echoed through a tunnel. Why were they everywhere? Didn't they understand that their mere existence made everything look so much uglier?

She sighed as she soared through the clouds. It was just like her dream, with the wind moving over her puffy, cloudy wings. Other bird Pokemon flew with her, but they were small and barely worth noticing. She wanted it to be like how she imagined it, with the cool sea breeze in her lungs and natural beauty stretching in every direction, but reality was so much more dull.   What could she do? As the protector of this region, it was her duty to make sure it was the best that it could be. She tried to think of a simple solution, or a way to convince the humans that what they were doing was wrong, but she knew it wouldn't work. Humans are a stubborn species. Once they get an idea in their heads, no matter how foolish or cruel, nothing can dissuade them from their path.

She knew that from her experiences years ago, when the land was still wild, and settlements had to fight against nature just to survive.

The humans had completely conquered nature while she was asleep. Perhaps it was time for nature to fight back. She felt a flame burning brightly inside her chest as she settled on her course of action. One way or another, she'd make sure the world was beautiful once again, even if it had to be cleansed in fire first.

spotted a mess of metal and glass as she flew over the crest of another mountain. It

was a large building sitting in a cleared area of land, with houses and other buildings nearby. Huge mechanical vehicles rolled across long strips of land and rose into the sky. The sound of them was ear-piercing.

The airport was one of the worst things Rainbow Peng had ever seen, but it would be a great way to show the world her intentions. She leaned forward and dove toward the airport, then slammed into it with all the force of a crashing meteor. The main building practically erupted as her feet crashed through concrete, steel, and glass. It didn't stand a chance against her, especially since she had nearly doubled in size since awakening. People and Pokemon were thrown from the structure as the gates collapsed and the nearby streets buckled. Cars rolled over, cracks formed across the ground, and some of the smaller planes nearby exploded as their fuel tanks lit. She smiled as she looked at the fireballs.

But one plane was still functioning. It was a large one, tall enough for three rows of passengers with four powerful jet engines screeching as it rolled forward. The large plane built speed as it charged down the runway. It was trying to escape.

Rainbow Peng couldn't let that happen. She hopped out of the wreckage of the airport and slammed her feet onto a few waiting planes. They erupted just like the others as their bodies buckled under the pressure. Her plumage sparkled as she gathered her power. She opened her mouth and released a wave of purple and blue energy, her Dragon Pulse. It destroyed a huge chunk of the runway, obliterated countless planes and vehicles in its path, then struck the large airplane just as it started to lift off the ground.

Lights flashed as the plane's wing came off. It first tilted, then crashed back onto the runway in an all-consuming explosion. She smiled as she looked at the destruction all around her, from the burning wreckage of the airplanes to the crumbled ruin of the airport. If everything in this world were this fun to destroy, she'd have a great time.

She was ready to destroy the surrounding town when a tiny blip in the sky caught her attention. It grew as its whirling blades became louder and louder, until she could just barely make out its form against the white clouds. The helicopter came close to her as its door opened, revealing a human with a billowing cape and a determined stance. He threw a Pokeball into the sky.

Red and white light erupted from the orb as it opened, unleashing a dragon that soared through the air on sharp red wings. Rainbow Peng recognized its sleek form and the blue color of its body. A Salamence. She always loved battling these creatures.

It charged her as soon as its trainer gave the command. Its claws glowed with purple energy as it tried to scrape across her wing, then it swung its tail in an attack that could have leveled a building. Unfortunately for it, her body was far stronger than concrete or steel. She pushed it back without any effort and awaited its next attempt.

The trainer in the helicopter looked annoyed as he lifted his head and pressed something on his neck. It looked like a necklace with a rainbow gemstone in the center. As soon as he did, his Salamence began to glow with that same amazing rainbow aura, until it exploded forth in a new form, just as the Blaziken did back in her temple.

What was this transformation? She felt completely entranced every time she saw it.   ``Salamence!'' the trainer shouted over the thunder of the helicopter blades. ``End it once and for all! Use Draco Meteor!''

The Salamence roared, and the sky turned dark. Rainbow Peng looked upward with slight interest as a flurry of burning missiles rained from the black clouds and tore through the sky with streaks of purple and blue in their wake. A few of them struck her feathers while the others slammed into the ground and destroyed even more of what the humans built.

When it finished, Rainbow Peng still stood in the ruins of the town, completely unfazed. It was a shame. She thought that a transformation like that would come with a bit more power. But it was still a tiny little Salamence, so she figured she shouldn't have expected so much.

She knew how to deal with these types of Pokemon. Her wings glistened with light blue and white sparkles as her feathers moved through the freezing air. Frost built up around her feet. The world grew cold as the Salamence and its trainer tried to brace for what was coming.   Rainbow Peng opened her mouth and fired an Ice Beam that cut across the sky, engulfed them both, then moved through the town. The attack was as beautiful as it was devastating. Everything the beam touched became frozen in an instant, and the sudden temperature change shattered almost everything into billions of shards of glittering airborne ice.

It made the sky come alive with rainbows as the sun broke through the clouds.

There. Now that everything was frozen and shattered, it looked so much better.

A rainbow hue encircled the moon as she flew across the night sky. She spent most of the day hopping from one town to the next, destroying them in different ways, and growing with every broken house and ripped apart train. Now she was titanic, her body larger than the mountains. Though it was hard to judge her exact size, she was around five hundred meters tall, easily big enough to dwarf everything created by the humans. Each beat of her wings created downdrafts that ripped apart the countryside with hurricane-force winds. When she landed, her feet created explosions powerful enough to vaporize everything within a few blocks.

Some Pokemon tried to stop her, but they were beneath her notice. Nothing could stand against her anymore. Nothing could hope to defeat her, or even lay a single scratch on her perfect feathers.

She smiled as she blasted another town with Fire Blast. The rainbow flames enveloped every house and slowly spread as the wind carried the embers further and further. Soon the entire world would be on fire, then it could be reborn from the blaze like a phoenix, glowing and beautiful.

A new settlement came into view on the horizon as she continued soaring across the sky. This one was different from the others. Its lights were far brighter, and its structures rose much further into the air. She took a moment to observe the incredibly complex nature of its twisting streets and buildings before landing on the outskirts of the city and destroying a huge chunk of it.

Skyscrapers tumbled just from the impact of her feet. She laughed at how pathetic everything was, then leaned down and scooped up a few blocks with her beak. Buildings broke apart as she chewed on them, then gulped them down.

Interesting. The flavors were similar to one of the towns, but a bit richer and sweeter. She kind of liked it! Not enough to keep the city in one piece, but still, it was a nice change.

As she grabbed another few buildings in her beak, a series of explosions lit up against her back. She slowly turned to find a cluster of boats floating in the nearby ocean with their guns aimed at her. Though they looked tiny to something as utterly massive as Rainbow Peng, they

were an armada of battleships outfitted with the latest weapon systems and defense capabilities. Their metal grey hulls sparkled in the light of the moon as countless missiles launched from their decks in bursts of flame. They rose into the air and arced toward her, then slammed into her side, chest, and wings in tiny explosions.

It didn't do much. Each blast was akin to an ember attack delivered by a newly hatched Torchic. She waited until the volley of missiles and cannon fire subsided, as any hope that she could reason with these humans faded. She knew that people were far too stubborn to understand what was happening to them. It was a shame, but if they were going to send their armies after her and attack her with their strongest weapons, then she could only answer with her strongest attacks in turn.

The moon was so beautiful overhead, so she decided to end their battle with her favorite move. She spread her wings and allowed the energy inside her to sparkle with a pink and purple aura. Glittering dots of light appeared around her like stars forming in the night sky. They increased in frequency until the move was ready.

Rainbow Peng lifted her wings to the sky and called down a blast from the heavens that parted the clouds and crashed into the city with more force than any bomb the humans had ever created. Everything inside the mile-wide cylinder of pink and white light was vaporized in an instant. Everything else was blown away in the titanic shockwave that followed. The valley trembled with the raw force of the attack as white light burned away everything it touched, moving first through the city's tallest buildings, then the smaller ones nearby, then the streets, the outskirts, and the boats floating in the nearby ocean.

Even the mountains that formed a wall around the city were blown apart by the raw magnitude of the attack. When the sky eventually cleared, all that was left was a crater where the city once stood and the wreckage of burned buildings for miles in every direction. Those white lights appeared and disappeared all around them for a few more minutes until they winked out of existence, leaving only rainbow flames dotting the landscape and the unfiltered night sky above.

  Moonblast never disappointed.

She readied herself to take to the sky again when a glint in the rubble caught her attention. It was different from the other bright spots amongst the destroyed city. Its rainbow hues looked radiant against the black backdrop of crumbled streets, broken buildings, and the occasional flash of sparking electricity or the embers drifting through the air. Curious, she walked over to the glittering spot of light, used her wings to clear away the rubble, then touched it.

As soon as she made contact with the glittering speck, energy flooded through her body and thundered into her soul. She felt as though a fire erupted inside of her. Its radiant power surged from the tips of her cloudy wings, through her star-shaped necklace, then down to her feet until a magnificent glow enveloped her entire body.

She burst out of the transformation in a new, even more beautiful form. Her tail flowed behind her like the sparkling form of the northern lights, while her cloudy wings became larger and more vibrant. She smiled as she let her wings spread, showing off her new mega form. This was it. This was the transformation she saw the Pokemon undergo before, the one she was so curious about. Now she experienced it herself, and it was everything she hoped it would be.

With a burst of starlight, she leapt from the ground and flapped her wings. Winds swept downward and erased everything that was left of the city as she took to the sky. Clouds broke apart against her body. The night was hers to command.

Each flap took her higher into the air until the clouds were far below her. She was gigantic now, so large that even one of the human cities looked like a tiny cluster of lights that she could crush with a single step. Now, her size was measured in kilometers. Every time she moved her wings, hurricanes formed in her wake and scoured the landscape. Forests ripped out of the ground as she passed overhead. Mountains shook, the oceans became turbulent and created waves higher than buildings. She loved the effect she had on the world. With this scale and power, it would be simple to obliterate everything the humans created so a new world could appear in its wake.

Another flash of light caught her eye. She looked forward and saw a dark shape silhouetted against the brilliant glow of the full moon. It moved quickly, darting through the sky with a thin body that glowed in powerful orange flashes. The Pokemon stopped when it came directly in front of her face. Rayquaza.

Rainbow Peng didn't remember it looking exactly like this, with glowing orange orbs of light on its belly and long trails attached to its head, but its energy was unmistakable. This was one of the most powerful Pokemon in the region, no, in the entire world!

And it looked like it wanted a battle. The Rayquaza roared, then unleashed a powerful series of attacks that broke apart nearby clouds and made the air shudder. The first was a brutal cut through the air, followed by a flash of blue and purple flames that she recognized as Dragon Pulse.

Even Rainbow Peng was surprised to find the attacks completely ineffective. She expected Rayquaza, especially this powered-up version, to have a bit more attack power. Undeterred, the legendary dragon rose higher into the air and concentrated its energy into a single all-powerful beam. It cut across her belly and roared past her until it crashed into the earth thousands of feet below. An entire region detonated as soon as the blast touched it, though Alteria barely felt a tickle. Her thick, pillowy feathers were too much.

The dragon didn't let up. It circled around her, clawing at her, biting her, and lashing out in every possible way. Normally, Outrage was strong enough to defeat any Pokemon who dared engage it in battle, but for Rainbow Peng, it felt like a fledgling bird Pokemon nibbling at her side. She giggled and casually batted Rayquaza away with her wing.

Rainbow Peng knew the battle was over. All she had to do was choose a move, and she could settle this. She thought through which one she could do, and finally settled on one that she thought would look absolutely ravishing in the moonlight. The air sparkled around her as the moisture froze into snowflakes, then she unleashed the blast of cold.

Ice Beam obliterated the Rayquaza before it even knew what was happening. The beam continued until it reached the ground below them, where it froze an area larger than some countries. Most of it shattered an instant later and threw countless specks of glittering ice shards into the sky.

In the glowing moonlight, it looked like a world of rainbows. It was so much better than anything the humans had ever created.

A few other legendary Pokemon tried to attack her as she continued her rampage across the Earth, but none of them were successful. The same was true for the armies sent by the humans and the countless ways they tried to attack her. Armadas of battleships fell as soon as her Dragon Pulse struck their bows, after which they were quickly swallowed by the churning, boiling ocean.

Artillery did nothing. Jet planes were barely even noticeable. Their intercontinental missiles were a little annoying, but even their city-sized fireballs failed to do anything more than leave a soot mark on her feathers. Even their strongest weapons were completely useless when put up against her.

They tried, though. Every time she landed on the ground and crushed a city under her all-powerful feet, they tried to send a volley of missiles and cannon fire. After a while, she just ignored it. They were completely below her notice.

She had a lot of fun destroying everything the humans built. Some places became engulfed in raging infernos when she used her Fire Blast attack. The rainbow flames stretched from one horizon to the other and generated incredible gusts of wind that helped spread the cinders even further. They would take days to burn out, and in the wreckage, the only thing left was ash.

Other cities froze solid and shattered. She liked to use her Ice Beam anywhere the sun beat down too intensely, since the ice crystals looked so beautiful when the strong sunrays refracted through their shapes. It was like being surrounded by billions of rainbows, though her own form was always more beautiful.

She crossed the ocean after leaving her own continent in rubble. A few battleships tried to stop her, and a Legendary Pokemon that was too tiny to see tried to send a geyser of water to knock her out of the sky, but both threats ended as soon as she used her Fire Blast. By the time the attack finished, the ocean boiled. No ship could sail across something like that.

More Pokemon tried to fight her once she landed on the next continent. She came to a tall mountain, one far larger than anything she had seen before. On top of it, a trio of Pokemon tried to stop her with a series of attacks she didn't recognize. They bent space, time, and gravity itself to end her rampage, but just like the others, it was pathetically weak. Even when all three of them teamed up together, they couldn't do anything to change her mind.

She wiped them out with a single blast of Moonblast. The mountain below them crumbled as the cylinder of pink light melted it down to the bedrock that formed its base, while countless stones launched into the sky and fell back onto the continent in a cataclysm of burning meteors.

It was amazing how fragile the world was now that she was titanic in size. A single step created depression in the earth far deeper than any lake or canyon, while the compressed rock heated up to such insane temperatures that it melted under her foot. When she took her next step, a burning, molten footprint remained on the ground like a scar across the earth.

She was absolutely titanic and dozens of kilometers tall. The cities were so small that she could bend down and scoop them into her beak. Entire metropolises danced across her tongue as she allowed their varying and unique tastes to represent themselves. She didn't even need to chew. All she did was tilt her head back, and the cities crumbled to pieces. They became a part of her with a single gulp.

The humans eventually stopped attacking her, but by that point, they were so far below her notice that it didn't matter. What were their atomic bombs when compared to a single use of her Fire Blast? Why should she be afraid of a nuclear warhead when her Moonblast could level mountains and leave continents as a trembling, glittering wasteland?

Planes fell out of the sky whenever she moved a wing. Hurricanes followed the movement and scoured whatever random patches of the ground remained undisturbed by her rampage. Soon, everything about the world would change to fit her new vision of it, and it barely took any effort on her part.

She flew to the northern side of the globe after, where ice stretched from one horizon to the other. It was impossible to tell what the humans did to it, as there were no cities and everything smaller was too tiny for her to notice, but she didn't take any chances. Everything the humans built had to be destroyed, wiped out, and completely forgotten. A few uses of Fire Blast melted everything and made the water under the ice boil.

She focused on the land continents after, and hopped playfully from one country to the next. Every time her foot came down, a shockwave visibly traveled from the point of impact toward the horizon, leaving destruction in its wake. Sometimes, when she came down especially hard, she saw the shockwave wrap all the way across the globe and return to her. That was always impressive.

Move areas froze, while she destroyed others with the raw force of her Moonblast, or the blue and purple wrath of Dragon Pulse. Whenever she came to a mountain, she leveled it with one of her attacks or simply jumped on top of it until it became level with the rest of the ground. Deserts turned to glass, savannas burned, forests were engulfed in wildfires, and tropical jungles ripped out of the ground with a single flap of her wings.

Perhaps other Pokemon tried to stop her even then, but their attacks were beneath her notice. Even if a legendary Pokemon like Mewtwo, Lugia, or Ho-oh used their strongest moves against her, it would be no different from the tiny blips of light caused by the human's nuclear blasts. If they even left a speck of dirt on her rainbow feathers, it was impressive. Everything else was too microscopic to even exist in her new world.

She defeated countless Pokemon without even realizing they existed. Her body continued to expand as her rampage continued, growing to fifty, then one hundred kilometers, then even further until she could see the curvature of the earth and every footstep left entire countries in ruin. Half the world burned in different color hues as the wildfires spread faster than any in Earth's history, while the other half was a frozen wasteland of glittering ice.

It wasn't enough, not yet. Rainbow Peng vowed to destroy everything. She'd light the whole world on fire, then put it out with her powerful wing beats, only to freeze it solid after, and then shatter the ice with Moonblasts. Only then, when she was sure the earth was reduced to ash and life was completely reset, would she allow herself to rest. Maybe, in another thousand years, life would return to the planet, and she'd awake to see a world that was far, far more beautiful. She hoped that would be the case.

With pride and satisfaction in every movement, Rainbow Peng continued soaring across the sky, burning everything she saw. Soon, the world would be ash, and then it could be reborn.
