Sometimes it's difficult to reconcile the disparate pieces of America. It feels like, in spite of all our progress, we haven't actually changed at all.

But America is a perpetual work in progress. Imperfect, but always striving to be more perfect.

We can always be better.

Happy 250th USA

For a long while now, it feels like the only way we've changed is for the worse.

I don't believe in hope because I know how I feel doesn't impact the things that bring about change in the world. But I'm already doing all of those things I can, small as they are, and I have relatives who depend on me and who physically can't flee with me if I chose to leave. So hoping it gets better is all I can do.

Still I hope you all have a happy 4th, however it finds you

On all points, I agree with you one thousand percent. This particular 4th of July has me dismayed over how easy it is for so many Americans to insist that bullying foreigners is proof of one's "love of country." Aren't we all foreigners at the source? 🇺🇸
