Could be a full cleave through the rock, neck, bush, and bow. Or could be that it only sliced through the bow. But given the rock, head, bush, and bow are all offset but not the tree I suspect a full murder. Only time will tell however.
I do not suspect Twi to be the time that would fuck around here given these are technically traitors to the crown and are trying to cause all manner of mayhem. By all accounts they're not just traitors and insurrectionists, they're also essentially a terrorist cell given what they're attempting to achieve.

Twilight can slice the arrows and the bow, because why not? I don't think that rock has stopped her from penetrating a hiding spot before, in this retelling. The way a swordsman thinks: If an archer still has arrows, then he refused to try shooting arrows at the guy I want dead, so he's to blame. Archer Griff needs to loose the arrows without losing the arrows, and that's not a typo. The bowstring is also supposed to be replaceable, and spares are kept in the quiver, as they're smaller than arrows and can be kept in a pillbox-size thing. So slicing the bow is the best way to take griffon's tools out of the fight.

The 'vorpal howl' naming on page 208 would support that. But has anyone been killed in the series so far? Yeah, it can get a bit rough, and Twilight's out for sex, but it's still MLP, and scaring a griffon like a chicken is more funny than beheading him like a chicken. If they just start killing everyone, what's the fun in that? We just have to see what happens on page 210.
