Chuchubie's Titanic Sunshine
BySokz
The sun was radiant as Chuchubie hopped and skipped across the rolling hills covered in grass. Other Pokemon scurried through the landscape, with tiny oddish playing around the edge of the field near the tall trees that made up the forest, Starly hopping around the dirt sections as they searched for wiggling worms, and Bidoof lazing by the river's edge. It was perfect, and she was in her sunshine form as her pink petals absorbed all of the heat and radiance of the day.
What more could she ask for than a fun morning like this? She smiled to herself as she crested the latest hill. She planned to throw herself down and skid across the smooth grass to the bottom, but she paused as soon as she saw what lay below her.
``Go Infernape!'' the trainer called. In front of him, the fire type gripped its fist until embers erupted from between its fingers, then it sprinted at the Bidoof in its path. It was an unwelcome, though not unfamiliar sight. These trainers always came into her home and tried to mess with the local Pokemon. Some of them wanted to capture the native creatures, a lot of them wanted to fight their way through to train. Chuchubie didn't really care why they were here. They were spoiling her playtime, and she didn't care for that.
But she also knew when she was outmatched. She could probably beat this one trainer without an issue, but there were always others lurking around. And once she kicked this kid's butt, there would be more. For some reason, they all wanted to capture her! It got so annoying sometimes.
``Hey!'' the trainer suddenly shouted. He turned to Chuchubie with eyes wide, sparkling with that look all the young humans had whenever they saw her. ``Nevermind Infernape! There's that Cherim we kept hearing about! Go, attack it instead!''
Chuchubie groaned. So that was how this was going to go. All she wanted to do was hop around and skip through the sunlight, but these humans made everything so difficult. She could probably blow this monkey away with a single attack, but she chose to turn and run instead. Maybe then it would be over quicker and she could go back to playing.
She turned around and hopped down the hill, sliding over the slick grass until she reached the bottom. From there she sprinted on her short, bouncy legs. The Infernape was quicker than she expected, and it was almost able to keep up with her.
It was kind of fun in its own way. She ran around the field, leading it up and over hills, across the river, into the forest, then around all the sudden pitfalls and cliffs she had explored countless times. Watching the monkey run headfirst into all the branches and logs gave her a smile, but eventually, she became bored of the game of chase.
She ducked into a bush, hopped across a small gully, then found the cave she had been searching for. Normally Chuchubie didn't bother with caves since she much preferred to be out in the sunlight, but it was worth it if it meant she didn't have to deal with this Infernape. She ventured into the yawning mouth of the dark rock, skipping along without a care in the world. If there was anything else in here, she could handle it.
The sound of the infernape's wild screeching faded as she moved deeper into the cave. That meant it had lost her and was just scrambling about in the forest. Hopefully something else would deal with it by the time she came out.
The cave itself was interesting. As she moved deeper, a faint purple glow emanated from the rock. Instead of a pure black space of dead air, as she had expected, the inside of the tunnel was alive and vibrant. Purple and red mist moved around her feet, and the air felt almost tingly. Strange.
As she moved further, the tingling sensation shifted into her body. She felt it buzzing around her chest, moving from the tips of her feet to the top of her head. It expanded inside of her and felt warm, just like the sun when it was blazing overhead. A smile stretched on her face as she opened herself up to the feeling, those red and purple smoke clouds billowing around her body until she felt a change. The cave began to shrink.
No, she soon realized. It wasn't the cave that was becoming smaller, she was just growing larger! She doubled in size, then doubled again, her body so large that every step she took shook the rocks and caused small pebbles to tumble from above. Now this was interesting. Her enjoyment of her sudden burst in size was interrupted by a screech from the mouth of the cave. It was jarring and annoying in all the ways only an Infernape could be. Apparently, it had found her.
Well, if it really wanted to battle that badly, she'd indulge it.
The Infernape had tracked Chuchubie to the mouth of the cave. It paced back and forth as it debated its next move, its eyes locked on the large footprints that moved deeper into the darkness. Was she planning something? Did she have an ambush ready in there? The
Infernape was more than confident with its abilities, but thinking through this type of thing wasn't its strong suit. That's what its trainer was for, but was still far back in the grassy area.
Did it go in? Did it wait? Did it just keep screaming into the dark? Yeah, that would probably intimidate her out. ``Gaaaah!'' it called, its shout echoing off of the walls and reverberating through the dark space.
Its confidant smirk disappeared as the ground shook. Curiously, it looked at the dirt around his feet. A rumble came again, stronger than before, making the pebbles bounce and the twigs shake. What was that?
It came again and again, rhythmically growing stronger. Soon the rumbles were accompanied by a faint thudding sound that grew in intensity, their source deep within the cave. Infernape felt a pit growing in its stomach... but that was silly. it was way stronger than anything out on this route, so there was no need to feel nervous. Widening his base, the monkey Pokemon readied himself for anything.
It could never have prepared for the sight of the giant Chermin happily hopping out from the darkness, the ground trembling under each impact of her massive body. She was easily five times the Infernape's size, her form radiant and glowing as if her smile alone could illuminate the deepest blackness.
Infernape was stunned, but it slapped himself out of his stupor. There was no time to act shocked, it needed to fight! it gripped his fist, allowed fire to completely envelop it, then charged forward with a battle cry. Its powerful legs launched him into the air, then it threw the fire punch with as much strength as it had. The fist landed perfectly in the center of Chuchubie's belly.
And it did nothing. The fire evaporated as its fist sank into her chub and was then pushed back out. Infernape stumbled as it landed, its attack having almost no effect on this giant Pokemon. Feebly, it looked up at Cherim. Chuchubie smiled.
She conjured a bit of the power inside of her body, then let it loose in a flurry of radiant leaves. They spun around her body, moving faster and faster until they created winds that tore through the nearby trees and ripped up the grasses around her feet. Then, when the glowing leaves were ready, she launched them at the Infernape.
With a SLAM, they impacted the monkey Pokemon and sent him flying. It was launched into the air, its burning body shrinking into the distance until it became nothing more than a twinkle of light amongst the early morning sky.
With a single Magical Leaf attack, the battle was over.
Chuchubie's smile was radiant as she skipped across the fields, through the trees, over rivers, and through great lakes. Nothing stood in her way, and her tremendous body reduced everything in front of her to rubble. She loved it!
She had once thought that the inner forest was scary, with all the thick leaves blocking out the sun and insect Pokemon hiding in all the shadows. Now though, her round body slammed into the trees and knocked them flying as if they were tiny blades of grass. Her feet trembled as they impacted the ground, causing reverberations that sent flocks of bird and bug pokemon flying in every direction.
She loved the crunch of the tree trunks as they bent under her weight, the snap of all the twigs and branches as her feet came down, and the splish of water and mud whenever she tore through a damp patch of land. Chuchubie had always been large, but now she was a true giant! Nothing could stop her, and she could run as much as she liked through the sun. Everything was open to her, and the entire world was her toy.
The giant paused as she caught sight of something glistening just past a small hillside. Her eyes widened in a look of amazement as she took in the shape of houses, roads, cars, and all manner of other things she had heard other Pokemon speak of but had never seen herself.
This must be the human village! The place all those annoying trainers came from. Her smile widened. This was going to be fun!
``Heh,'' leader Byron snickered as he looked over the town from his place up the hillside. The once peaceful city was under siege, beaten down and destroyed by the mere presence of a Pokemon that had invaded their tranquil life. Her feet slammed into the water near the port and caused huge waves that swamped the boats. Her belly crashed into the houses and turned them into smoking heaps of timber and rubble. People fled in every direction as she hopped and skipped with a care in the world.
But Byron would put a stop to it. After all, he was the gym leader here and one of the strongest trainers in the entire region. A single Cherrim, no matter how big, would fall to his power. ``Come on!'' he shouted as he sprinted out from the gym, towards the center of the giant's destruction.
The ground rumbled as he ran through the streets, each impact of Chuchubie's feet causing the world to shift and the concrete to crumble. He had to duck when a glimmering leaf the size of his entire body was shot through the town, cutting everything before it to pieces and leaving an entire path of destruction in its wake. Then the sound of crunching metal echoed all around him as the giant stomped onto a car and reduced it to scrap. He had to hurry.
By the time Byron made it to the Cherrim, almost half of the city had been leveled. The streets were pockmarked by the huge craters left by her steps, with half-destroyed cars and completely annihilated buildings strewn about as if they had just been toys to be discarded once their use was finished.
This was HIS city, and he wouldn't see it destroyed like this. The trainer grabbed a Pokeball from his belt, clicked the central button, then threw it into the air. ``Go, Steelix!'' he shouted as a red flash escaped the Pokeball and quickly condensed into the form of one of his strongest Pokemon.
With a growl, Steelix landed in front of the giant Cherrim. Its presence was enough for Chuchubie to notice, and she turned towards the Pokemon with a playful grin. Byron shook his head. Though his Pokemon was only a quarter of the size of his opponent, he was still confident. ``We'll see how long you're smiling for. No one defeats me in a head to head! Go,
Steelix, use iron tail!''
``Graaaw!'' The Steelix screeched as it charged at the giant. With a force that could level buildings and completely destroy even some of the highest defenses in the world, Steelix spun and slammed his glowing tail into the Cherrim's side. She barely even reacted.
Once the sound of the slap faded, Steelix was left staring up at Chuchubie as she casually wiped away some of the dirt that came with the attack. Once she was finished, she returned her attention to the Steelix.
``Get ready!'' Byron shouted. ``Curl up! Defend yourself!''
As Chuchubie lifted her hands to the air to gather the sunlight, Steelix curled around itself and strengthened its guard. Nothing had broken through its metallic skin, and this would be no different.
The ground trembled as Chuchubie took in even more of the sun's energy. An electricity sparked through the air and the raw feeling of power was unmatched. As Byron watched the scene unfold, for the first time in his life, he wondered if this battle was even winnable.
And then she unleashed her attack. The solar beam emerged from her body and crashed into the Steelix with all the force of an apocalypse. A meteor sent from deep space would not have wrought such destruction as the beam continued and cut through the town. Houses that were caught in the blinding light were vaporized, the streets melted, the bridge over the river was reduced to cinders, and then the explosion that followed a moment later leveled everything that was not in the direct blast.
As the fireball completely encapsulated the town, Chuchubie was left standing in the center with a huge smile on her face. She didn't mean to break everything... but this town was getting boring anyway.
``Dude, what are we supposed to do?'' James, his voice shrill and sweat rolling down his forehead, asked. His jacket was dusty and his pants were torn. He was out of breath and his eyes were bloodshot.
``We have to get out of the city,'' his friend Conor answered. Conor wasn't in a better state. His dress shirt was torn and his pants had smudges on them that he knew would never come out. Though he normally took such pride in his appearance, there were more important
things on his mind. Their entire city was being destroyed. ``Maybe if we...''
He was cut off as another thundering reverberation shook the ground. The two young men stood on a corner of two small streets, tall buildings surrounding them on all sides. Smoke billowed in the distance, replacing what should have been a collection of massive towers. Cinders moved through the air, and the sky glowed in a pinkish tint. When the shaking stopped, Conor continued. ``We need to get out of the city. If we take 5th we might be able to reach the bridge.''
``But the traffic!'' James answered. A chorus of honking cars echoed his words. On pretty much every street, vehicles were packed bumper to bumper as everyone desperately tried to escape the city.
``We just have to walk.''
``That's like twenty blocks!''
The ground trembled again, this time accompanied by small pebbles and rocks falling from the buildings around them. ``I know, but we have to!'' They took off in the direction opposite of the flames.
The city was in a panic ever since the giant appeared. The monitors and screens they passed in windows and on the sides of buildings flashed through different news organizations. Sometimes they had rough helicopter footage of a giant moving through the streets, sometimes they focused on the crushed cars, destroyed skyscrapers, or broken highways that lay in its wake. No one knew what was happening.
One of the bridges into the city had already been destroyed. How long until the others
fell?
James and Conor ran until they came to a street pockmarked with huge holes in the concrete. Cars were backed up on either side, unable to pass. Water mains shot geysers into the air, and the buildings on each side sagged terribly, their brick sides threatening to collapse at any moment.
Rattatta scurried out from the alleyways as the ground shifted once again.
``What are those?'' James asked as Conor dragged him through the street.
As they passed another one of the gigantic craters, nearly twenty feet across at minimum and almost as deep, Conor answered. ``Footprints.''
They kept running and only paused when a deafening roar reverberated off of the buildings, followed by the sight of five jet aircraft flying overhead. The boom of their engines was tremendous and left them both shaken. ``Is that the military?'' James asked.
``Yes,'' Conor answered. ``I told you, this will all be handled in a little bit. Come on.''
Conor's hope didn't last. They crossed another packed intersection with a digital billboard displaying the latest interactions with the gigantic Pokemon. The wrecks of fighter jets were sprinkled around her feet, and the only sign that they had done anything at all came in the form of a single sooty mark on the giant Cherrim's back.
``Dude... if jets can't stop it...''
``Don't think about that,'' Conor said as he dragged his friend forward. ``We only have a little further to go! Come on!''
They ran. As they went, more and more people joined them until they finally came to the edge of the city where the river blocked their passage to safety. Ahead of them was the great expanse of the suspension bridge that would let them escape. They just needed to move with the crowd and eventually they would be safe.
``We're almost there,'' Conor said. ``Just a bit more.''
``I hope so man.''
Boom... the ground shook under their feet. After the last few hours, they had almost grown used to the tremors. But this felt different, it felt stronger. Boom, boom BOOM, the ground shook more and more. The people around them in the crowd muttered to themselves, the fear apparent in their tones. With each second that passed, the booms grew louder and stronger, until it was hard for people to keep their balance.
``What is that!'' Some people screamed out.
``What's going on!?'' No one knew.
Then, from behind them, a shadow was cast. Everyone in the crowd turned back to the city as a giant figure moved out from behind one of the massive towers. Her face was adorable, her massive yellow body plump and warm. She smiled and laughed as her foot came down on a section of the street, obliterating the cars and buses that happened to be under her. The tremor followed.
``There it is!'' someone screamed from the crowd. In fear, everyone pushed forward towards the bridge and rushed away from the giant.
Chuchubie giggled at the sight. She turned towards the mass and moved forward. Each one of her footfalls was titanic, the crumbling ground accompanied by the sound of metal cars buckling, buses exploding, and pipelines bursting. The buildings on either side of her trembled under her might and crumbled when her round belly bumped into them. Dirt and rock were kicked up every time she took a step, and the impacts only grew more intense. Soon Conor and James were within her shadow. She didn't look down at them, just giggled as she kept moving toward the bridge.
``Get down!'' Conor screamed when the giant was only a step away. Everyone around them ducked as she lifted her blobby foot, moved it over their heads, then slammed it down a little bit past them. This time the impact was so forceful that they were all thrown onto their backs, their eyes skyward as the giant a thousand times their size simply walked over them like they were ants.
They avoided being stepped on by pure luck.
The tiny humans watched as she continued to walk towards the bridge. When she was at the edge of the city, she lifted her arms, took in the power of the sun, charged her attack, and then launched a beam of pure power. The blast sizzled the air and instantly boiled the water it came in contact with. The steam billowed all around the attack as she lifted it towards the sky, the blast first cutting across the river, then through the center of the bridge, then into the sky beyond. A detonation followed an instant later, absolutely obliterating everything that was nearby. Stone, concrete, and steel were sent flying in every direction as the glow of the Solar Beam faded. With a huge splash and a deafening cacophony of sound, the remains of the bridge were lost to the churning river.
Chuchubie giggled, then turned and hopped away.
``Dude...'' James said when the impacts of her stomps faded. ``She just destroyed our only way out. And... and she giggled. This is just a game to her. We're just toys.''
``I know,'' Conor answered. He gulped as he tried to think of another way out. ``I know.''
The mountain rumbled, and the sleeping giant awoke. From inside a cave buried in centuries of snowfall, a set of eyes flashed. Hulking muscles stirred, and the legendary Pokemon pushed itself out from its long forgotten tomb. With hulking strides, the powerful Pokemon moved to the mouth of its cave and dug through the packed snow that had sealed it. Soon fresh air flowed over its skin as it took its first steps into the world.
Regigigas stood atop the mountain, its 6 eyes taking in the world with cold calculation. The ground vibrated in subtle ways under its feet. Something was wrong in its domain, a threat that echoed through its internals. Regigigas had heard the calls of the other Regis from around the region. Something big threatened its domain.
An explosion in the distance drew its attention. One of the human settlements was engulfed in a fireball as a beam of sunlight faded. Smoke billowed from the towers and the skyscrapers, barely visible through the fog and snow. A figure moved amongst those buildings. Its shadowed silhouette hopped through the destroyed landscape.
With mechanical sounds and a declaration of war, Regigigas moved toward the source of the disturbance.
The giant Pokemon was used to threats. It had defeated many Pokemon in its life and crushed them into dust. There wasn't much in this world that could threaten it, yet as it came closer and closer to the titanic Pokemon on the horizon, it felt a twinge of anxiety deep inside of its internals. Not even gigantamaxed Pokemon were this size.
But Regigigas would still be victorious. It had never lost, and today would not be its first defeat.
They came together in a field just outside of the city, now no more than a landscape of broken rubble, shattered glass, and fire. The Cherrim had leveled everything and crushed all the towers to dust under her feet. A few spots of mud and dirt smudged the lower half of her body, but otherwise she strode forward unharmed and unaffected.
Her feet came down on the grassy plain with titanic impacts that left even Regigigas shaking. She didn't even notice the legend as she hopped forward. That just meant Regigigas would launch the first attack.
He would not hold back. The giant legendary Pokemon gathered energy inside of its body, then let it loose in a violent explosion of motion. Its legs propelled its hulking body into the sky. It readied its fist as it flew towards the Cherrim's body. When it was close enough Regigigas let the attack crash into its opponent.
Regigigas did not know how many Pokemon had been obliterated by his Giga Impact over the years. Too many to count. If his fist slammed into a boulder it reduced it to pebbles. If it crashed into a hillside it caused an avalanche. If it hit a Pokemon, their bodies shattered as they were launched into the horizon.
And yet, all his attack did was sink a bit into her pudgy body. The blow expanded out around her belly, then simply faded. The sound of crashing thunder ended as Regigigas fell to the ground, his punch barely even noticeable to the giant.
But Chuchubie felt the tickle against her belly. She glanced down and looked curiously at the Pokemon that landed between her feet. It was larger than the others she had defeated... though not by much. It was still only as big as one of her pudgy soles, if that.
She smiled as she lifted her leg and moved her foot over the comparatively tiny legendary. Regigigas braced itself and anchored its body. Still, it was not ready for the cataclysmic impact of Chuchubie stomping onto it.
With a thunderous SLAM, her foot crushed into the Pokemon and slammed it into the ground. The incredible weight of her body pressed down onto Regigigas and threatened to squash him against the dirt. Its internals struggled, its eyes flashed, and its body flailed. Her foot sank deeper and deeper into the ground, crushing him and smothering him slowly.
Above, Chuchubie chuckled. She could have finished the battle by simply leaning forward and destroying the funny little Pokemon, but she didn't want to. She had a more fun idea. She lifted her foot, then laughed as the Regigigas stayed stuck to the bottom, its body smothered against her sole.
She sent it flying into the air with a kick. The once imposing Pokemon flew above her, its arms waving and its eyes flashing as it tried to right itself. She didn't give it time. Instead, she bundled all of her energy into an attack, then let it loose in an eruption of petals. The giant flower petals flew at incredible speeds, their sharpened edges cutting through anything they came in contact with. Buildings near her feet were bisected and then blown apart. Trees from the nearby forest were felled, and the Regigigas was completely defeated as it was overwhelmed. The petals struck, and Regigigas was launched far, far into the distant horizon.
A single move and even the most legendary Pokemon could be defeated.
Chuchubie smiled as the move finished. She loved how fun everything was when it broke. The ground was a scared patchwork of her footsteps and the deep trenches carved by the petals. Some parts were smoldering, others were burning, and she could just keep playing as long as she liked.
The feeling of it was so joyful that something changed inside of her. She felt a new wave of power unlock inside her chest. Her body expanded, doubling in size, then tripling, then tripping again as a bright red aura surrounded her. Fueled by the happiness inside her heart, Chuchubie unlocked her gigantamax form!
When it was finished, the ground looked like nothing more than a flat collection of differently colored smears. She now towered over the city so high that the ruins and destruction were barely even visible. To her, the tallest skyscraper was now no larger than an insect.
She giggled as she took her first step. The ground buckled and splashed outward in a great molten firestorm. The rock rained down on the surrounding areas, starting fires and destroying anything that hadn't been completely obliterated by the impact of her foot. The devastation was unprecedented, the fallout almost unfathomable, and that was just a single step.
With a smile, she skipped across the landscape. The entire region was nothing to her, and she crossed it in only a handful of hops. In her wake was destruction, total and complete in every possible way. Entire cities vanished under her feet as they came down. Roads buckled, forests were decimated, and features of the landscape that had stood for thousands of years cracked and broke away.
When she stepped into the ocean, the water boiled and a tsunami swamped what was left of the coastline. Tiny, almost microscopic cruise ships were capsized, and the tides were physically altered by her mere presence.
She reached down and gently scooped one of the cruise ships into her hand. Water flooded off of her palm and cascaded in glimmering waterfalls, forming rainbows as the water drained, leaving just the tiny ship in the center of her hand. For a few seconds she just held it, looked at it, and enjoyed how infinitely complex it was for someone her size.
Then she opened her mouth and tossed it in. With a GULP, the entire ship vanished into her belly.
She continued to play. Nothing could stop her now. Nothing could even attempt to stand in her way. The best Pokemon trainers in the world were destroyed and beaten as she simply walked across the land. The armies were no match for her, and she barely even felt the tickle as their bombs exploded against her side. Soon her footsteps were leveling mountains, then they were destroying entire continents in a single stomp.
The Earth trembled under her weight as she grew so huge that she could see the curve of the horizon. Clouds were forced away from her body as she effortlessly walked through them. The ground was turned into a desolate hellscape, the atmosphere burning from the energy created by each one of her movements. When her foot landed, it sank a little into the ground as if it were only mud. Bubbling, boiling rocks erupted with every stomp.
And then, the Earth lost its hold on her. With a final happy skip, she lifted off of the planet and drifted into the vast expanse of space that surrounded it. No longer could its gravity hold her.
The experience was amazing, one of the most fun things she had ever done. The stars surrounded her in a myriad of vibrant lights. She could see all the constellations that could normally only be seen at night, and all the glittering dots smiled at her. It was kind of nice knowing that even though she was so huge, the night sky was still the same.
The Earth, however, looked more like a toy. It was pockmarked with deep craters where her feet had landed, a lot of it was on fire, and so much of it had been broken and shaped into unnatural patterns, but it was still her planet. She needed to do something really fun with it.
She thought about squishing it between her hands, smooshing it between her feet, and taking a bite out of it like it was a fresh berry, but none of these fit. Instead, she reached out and gently cupped the Earth in her hands. She then pulled it close to her face, smiled, turned so that her cheek faced the surface, then gave it a warm and loving nuzzle.
As it rubbed against her body, the Earth was destroyed. The pressure was too much, and it broke apart as if it were a liquid that could no longer hold itself together. Stone and rock drifted away from the iron core and began to orbit her head, as if in acknowledgment that she was the greatest thing in the entire solar system.
Greatest, except perhaps for the thing that made her grow so huge in the first place. With the Earth obliterated, she turned towards the sun. It shined so brightly against the backdrop of blackness and shimmering stars as if it was smiling at her and inviting her to come closer. She was more than happy to accept.
She drifted closer to the sun, her body absorbing more and more light as she went, her joy growing with every million miles she crossed. Asteroids were obliterated as she simply moved past them. Venus was barely even a blip on her chest as it collided with her. Mercury, she didn't even notice as it was torn apart by her gravity. And then she reached the sun.
To her amazement, it was only a little bit smaller than she was! To think that there was still something so massive out in the universe. It was funny to think about. At one point she thought the biggest Pokemon she would ever see would be the size of a tree, or maybe one of the houses those trainers built. Now, she was so huge that the Earth itself was no more than a tiny marble, and the sun was the same size as her.
Once again, she thought about what she should do. The sun had given her so much during her life, and had now allowed her to turn into a giant and have more fun than she ever thought possible. So, she did the one thing that she always did when she wanted to show her love. She spread her arms and hugged the sun.
It bulged under her strength a little, but it did not break. The surface bubbled and shot up great arcs of plasma, but she didn't mind. Even something so hot couldn't burn her anymore. In fact, it felt warm and comforting.
She was still growing. In a little while, she could smoosh the sun between her paws or gobble it down like it was a bright and delicious piece of fruit, but for now she was happy to embrace it.
And then, once she was finished with the solar system, she would investigate all those other blips in the sky. After all, she'd soon be so big that they would all be drawn to her. At this rate, she would be the center of the entire universe. And that sounded like a whole lot of fun!
