So, had this idea after thinking way to hard about the Emperor of Mankind and the Primarchs/ Astartes legions, then came to the conclusion that the emperor's soul and light is that of shamans (a lot of them) and that as such he probably has animal forms... after all several of his sons and their sons do, so this is my new head canon. The Emperor of Mankind revives.. as an adorable femboy lion. :3

Corvus Corax literally has a spiritual bird transformation Leman Russ and the space wolves have the Canis Helix Gene which makes them into werewolves Salamanders and subsidiary chapters take on dragon like traits such as growing scales and such. These are all traits of Shamans/ Mystics/ Druids to be able to "Wild shape" in some capacity.
Lion El'Johnson has the ability to basically phase in and out of reality via Forest Walking which when you read the description is pretty close to either Astral projecting or Dream walking. another thing that shamans can do.
