Note: This episode is significantly longer than previous stories in the series — readers accustomed to the shorter format should set aside extra time.
It is early autumn in Riverside Market, and the household is navigating the quieter urgencies of the season: Chenara deep in her shift back to male, withdrawn and tender; Noraxia five months along, her unborn daughter already shifting between furfolk and dragon forms in the womb as if testing her options. Then Nessa arrives at dawn — thinner, a week-old wound on her foreleg, leaves in her mane — having navigated her way home from the rangers by memory and instinct alone. Before the household has time to process her return, a documentary crew shows up claiming permission to film for Wild Silvania 2: Domestic Impossibilities. The presenter seems genuine. The sound technician is not. Raskon recognizes him from his pirate past as a biological data broker, and what looks like an invasive documentary is actually an assessment — with Noraxia's pregnancy as the prize. Nessa, still raw from whatever frightened her at the rangers, is the one who exposes him: a low sustained warning that sends every animal in the room to attention and leaves no ambiguity about what kind of person Hasel is. Raskon's history, repurposed as leverage, drives him out for good.
