Was playing Final Fantasy 9 again a while back, this time without the crappy Strategy Guide that makes you go to the now gone Playonline website for the actual important advice, and had a much more successful time.
One of the Active Time Events takes you to a Swamp where a Moogle named Mogster gives you various information on the gameplay mechanics, like Status Effects, and other stuff, while his little brother remarks how smart his big bro is. This idea instantly came to mind.
Visual Description:
