Tarryn is the kind of existence that wasn’t meant to happen—and yet, there she stands, living proof that even the most rigid natural rules can bend under the right conditions. Born of an Arcanine and a Ninetales, her fate should have been simple. When exposed to a Fire Stone, hybrids like her typically resolve into one lineage or the other, their form stabilizing into something familiar, predictable. But the stone used on Tarryn was flawed—an impure Fire Stone, fractured in composition and unstable in its energy. The perfect conditions of both sides of her lineages met in absolute harmony. Instead of choosing a side, it fused both.

Background/History

Note: The result was something new entirely: a “Ninenine.” A nine-tailed hound with the proud, commanding frame of an Arcanine and the ethereal elegance of a Ninetales. Her body carries both legacies in constant conversation—thick, powerful limbs built for endurance and speed paired with flowing, expressive tails that flicker with controlled flame. Her fire burns differently too, shifting between the raw, roaring intensity of an Arcanine and the refined, almost mystical heat of a Ninetales. It’s not just appearance; it’s identity. Two instincts, two inheritances, forced into harmony.

Note: Growing up, Tarryn was nothing special, a normal Growlithe born from mixed race parents. Much to the dismay of her mother who knew she would outlive her soon-to-be Arcanine daughter. To her shear delight Tarry evolved into something incredibly rare as there is no way to test for impurity within evolution stones.

Note: Tarryn's lifespan as a Nine-Nine is estimated to be around 900 years.

Note: Tarryn developed a personality rooted in balance. Where Arcanine are often bold and direct, and Ninetales are measured and enigmatic, she became both—and neither. She is confident without being overbearing, composed without being distant. There is a quiet awareness to her, an understanding that she is always being observed, always being judged. Rather than shrink from that pressure, she meets it with poise. She carries herself like someone who has already accepted scrutiny and decided it no longer defines her.

Note: Her abilities reflect this duality. In combat or survival, she can shift between overwhelming force and precise control, adapting fluidly to the situation. She is not the fastest of her kind, nor the most magically attuned—but she is versatile in a way few others are. Where others specialize, Tarryn blends. Where others commit to one approach, she pivots. It makes her unpredictable, difficult to counter, and uniquely capable in unfamiliar situations.

Note: Yet for all her strength, there is a quieter side to Tarryn—one that longs, even if she rarely admits it, for simple acceptance. Not admiration. Not curiosity. Just belonging without explanation. She has learned to live without it, to define herself outside of others’ expectations, but the desire lingers in small ways: in the way her tails settle when she feels at ease, in the rare softness in her expression when she is treated as ordinary. Tarryn is not a mistake, nor a compromise. She is something entirely her own—a living fusion of fire’s dual nature: wild and controlled, fierce and graceful.
