Sometimes a new image begins with an old memory. Zeke and Jake were actually the first original characters I introduced on InkBunny. They started out as part of a small fanfic I wrote back then called My Little Cousin. Early in that story there was a little chapter that worked almost like a spin-off, and it ended up becoming one of the pieces I enjoyed making the most.
The image from that chapter was called “Rockstars.”
The idea was simple and playful: the two of them were just at home, in their pajamas, listening to music and imagining themselves on stage while the song “Fire Woman” by The Cult played in the background. I remember trying to picture their movements while listening to the lyrics, imagining them singing along, acting out the performance as if the room had suddenly turned into a concert stage.
It was one of those moments where everything just clicked creatively. The original image was clean and simple, and even though pieces like that don’t always get as much attention as the spicier ones, it remained one of my personal favorites because it had a certain energy to it that stuck with me.
Recently, while listening to Fire Woman again, that old scene came rushing back to mind. And with how much time has passed, along with all the new tools and possibilities available now, it felt like the perfect moment to revisit the idea.
So this image is a little return to that moment. This time Zeke and Jake aren’t just imagining the stage anymore. They’re standing right there in the lights, microphones in hand, singing their hearts out and clearly enjoying every second of it. Two foxes, side by side, sharing the music, the spotlight, and the fun of the moment.
For me, this piece is a small trip down memory lane. And for you… well, I hope you enjoy the show. 🎤🐾
