Despite Mark's hesitation toward Tom, he does decide to wait for him outside Mr. Bennin's office... instead of giving in to his tendency to squeamishly avoid him. Mark has gotten the impression that he probably shouldn't pry into the pasts of people around him here, but with the damage done, he can't help but be curious as to why Tom (who seems to, otherwise, have nothing really wrong with him) would have done such a thing to himself?
Does Tom even have a real answer?
