Kenji had claimed his spot on the sand early, long before the beach filled with chatter and splashing. His towel, bright, soft, and already warmed by the sun, was spread beneath the gentle shade of a pair of palm trees. The breeze kept brushing through his black‑and‑pink hair, lifting a few strands every time it passed, as if the wind itself wanted to play with him.

He stretched out on his back, arms behind his head, letting the sunlight soak into his fur. The ocean rolled in a steady rhythm nearby, each wave curling and breaking with a sound that felt like it was syncing with his heartbeat. His eyes half‑opened now and then just to admire the glittering water before drifting shut again.

A starfish rested in the sand a few feet away, almost like a quiet little companion. Seagulls called overhead, but none of it disturbed him. Kenji wasn’t thinking about anything complicated today. No travel plans, no worries, no big decisions. Just warmth, salt air, and the soft rustle of palm leaves above him.
He let out a contented sigh, tail flicking lazily against the towel. For once, the world wasn’t asking anything of him. He could simply exist, sunbathing, smiling, and letting the day unfold at its own slow pace.

And honestly, he deserved that kind of peace.
