"Last-minute lifeline"
He's not sure what he did to deserve it, but this unfortunate lizard ended dropped into the ocean tied to a metal ball! Trying to get free wasn't working, and he soon landed on the seabed a couple hundred feet down. Frantically looking around, he could see big bubbles coming up from some rocks quite some distance away... He HAD to get there.
Dragging the ball along took some effort, and was frustratingly slow, but he could do it. Minutes passed, the air getting closer as the lizard got closer to running out of breath... Eventually, the latter happened first, and he started gasping and choking! A rush of adrenaline from beginning to drown helped him drag the ball faster despite the seawater filling his lungs, and finally, in another 30 seconds, he reached the rocks, grabbing a big bubble and gasping it down at last. As much of an improvement having new air in him was though, it didn't exactly clear out the water it was sharing space with... He covered his mouth, shivering and putting everything he had into not coughing as he waited for more air.
