Mark enters the school he will be attending for the next four years, does not check in, and receives the customary medical exam from the school nurse. And by exam, we mean "injection of a biometric tracking chip that monitors his location at all times, his autonomic functions, records his physical and mental condition, detects injury or trauma, and sends automated alerts to the security station and sets off alarms if he does anything." That kind of 'medical exam'.

Yet, it still doesn't seem to be sinking in what all this is, and why Mark belongs here. Maybe meeting some of the other students will help to put things into perspective for him?
