Mark's family Christmas photo, 2002. At 13, Mark is far less comfortable and joyful in spirit than he was six years prior. Marriene has managed to get both her husband and son to stop squabbling long enough to stand nice for a cozy-looking family photo at the mall for Christmas, but nobody really feels like putting a nice smile on.

Sometimes, putting aside differences for just a moment to take a picture is all some people can do. It works for a minute, but eventually they are going to have to come to terms with each other...
