DnD campaign I was in finally finished.
"Why's she so nervous?" You may ask.
Well....Got brained by a bugbear with a morningstar, followed immediately by getting lifedrained by a Wraith. Bringing her from full HP to 0 and reducing her max HP by more than half. This nervous/shaky thumbs up was her response to a teammate asking if she was alright after she got back up.

Wild last session haha

Wow, sounds like the enemies were targeting spellcasters, huh?
Were there exactly two attacks? What level was she? 3 or 4? It seems somewhat early to leave a character to open a tavern or shop, right? Perhaps in the future, after taking a little trauma relief break, she'll be ready to resume. Or is retiring from a dangerous life exactly what she wants? XD
It wouldn't be a stupid thing to do, quite a few ends dying... but unless it's a TPK, or almost, in D&D-like settings there's always the possibility of reviving everyone, even leaving them all in debt.

Good guess, she was level 4. It happened in the midst of a longer fight, we were going through the final dungeon of the campaign. Nobody ended up dying and the lifedrain was cured on long rest so everything worked out in the end.

Ohh... Was it one of those dungeon crawler adventure style things? Where the whole thing, the entire mission/adventure/plot, is just entering a dungeon and finishing it? I mean, it wasn't a more open-ended one, like, "They're in this little village, they meet while looking for work, they do some, then a goblin tribe appears raiding the local towns, then a letter arrives from the local count or mayor of the nearest city inviting them to meet after learning of their achievements, etc." Now I understand better why it only went up to level 4; it was about just doing a dungeon and that's it.
Maybe I'm too ambitious, but it seems to me that with all the time and thought invested in creating a character (I even spend two days thinking about my character's personality and background... and when I'am GM... even more, of course), stopping so early feels like we only saw that little bit of the character, and everything else is left unknown or undefined. As if we left Frodo at the moment he arrives in Rivendell, having survived the sword wound inflicted by the wight and having managed to entrust the Ring to Elrond and Gandalf, and just ending there with the idea at that time that the Hobbits (or Halflings ( ͡~ ͜ʖ ͡°) ) would return home right after the meeting to decide what to do with the Ring.

But short modules or standalone adventures can be connected to other adventures, allowing us to continue seeing how that character's life continues.
Of course, the world is supposed to be full of people, so it would be right if many of them had that one moment as the most exciting or action-packed of their lives. And if we wanted to fill the world with interesting people, we could create lots of characters but drop them early instead of developing them to their full potential and then be just local figures (like that local wizard/sorcerer in A Wizard of Earthsea by U. K. Le Guin who finds the young protagonist and takes him on as an apprentice briefly before simply sending him to magic school)... I mean, not everyone can become legends, right?

No, there was other story stuff it wasn't just dungeons. I just meant like it was the last dungeon in the campaign. It is true though we didn't get to explore the player backstories that much, but it was also my friend's first campaign so can't really blame him there. Perhaps we'll do a continuation later, I certainly wouldn't be opposed to playing as her again.
