Ooh, what a gorgeous scene! Megan told me about this, but I hadn't actually seen it yet. Everyone looks so, so cute, though, and it's nice to see everyone enjoying such a lovely holiday moment. Decorating the tree was always one of my favorite parts of Christmas, and this reminds me so much of my sister and me. I was always the one who ended up tangled in the lights!
I like to think Grace is just in the kitching, fixing a tray of cookies and (non-alcoholic) eggnog for everyone.

While I've never actually had eggnog, it's not really a thing here, I suspect I might actually prefer the non-alcoholic version. The strident taste of alcohol sort of ruins the delicious egg-and-sugar thing. (I had Eierlikör in Hamburg last September, I imagine it's sort of the same thing and it didn't really agree with me).
Keeping secrets from you, is she? Sneaky bun. While I've never actually had eggnog, it's not really
Eggnog has been described as a sort of drinkable custard. It has a cinnamony, nutmeg-y taste that's really quite nice. I think a lot of people do prefer it without the alcohol, too, as it's easy to add too much and make it overpowering. Worth trying if you ever get the chance, though.

I just looked at a recipe. It's almost the same as the dessert cream sauce I made as a test earlier today, which I think you'd call a custard in anglo cooking. (This was for a fruit salad so quite thin and not heated, so yes pasteurized eggs, you can make thicker [heated] versions to put in a layer cake [made from a sliced sponge cake]. Sugar glaze and strawberry jelly, and there's a happy birthday to you). Except it had a few drops of triple sec for that adultness, but not in dizzying amounts. And no cinnamon or nutmeg. We don't drink it, though. It might be nice with a dark rum, at that.

There's always gotta bel legwarmers. I'm a tiny bit obsessed. They do look cute on the girls, though, and very festive indeed.
I'm so happy you like this and thank you so much for posting! And for letting me borrow the girls for a holiday outing, as well. I've been pondering Christmas-y art for a couple of months now and everything lined up perfectly to produce this. Maybe next year they can come over a bit more often than once in a blue moon!
