When the 'tism hits, it hits hard. In May of 2024, I was browsing YouTube and discovered the British Rail Class 91 locomotive. I created a character that drives a van inspired by a Class 91, named Rosie. A few months later, in October, I bought a Hornby OO gauge model of the Class 91, as well as an R40158 LNER car that's sadly a dummy - AFAIK they never made a power unit in the LNER or Virgin livery. They're great runners, and I run them at the Stevens Point show every year. The full train set in Swallow livery and the LNER dummy cost me a total of £205, but the expense is the first thing you'll learn in the model train hobby unless you want to run nothing but 30-40-year-old Tyco stuff.

I've had the car since February 2023, which I wanted since I was 11 years old. It's by Busch, and it literally has the graphics from Melissa's beta car in Need for Speed Underground. They called it the "Ninja," number 47409. It was $20.

As a scale reference for the characters, I used some Preiser 79716 polar bears, which are N-scale (1/160), but they fit with HO (1/87) as people-sized "anthros." I picked them up for $12 from a local train show in October of this year. They did not help figure out the scale, and I instead used JPEGs of yardsticks and marked off the height of the car and characters. I always forget how small Ford Probes are. Ironically, I also forgot that OO is 1/72 and HO is 1/87, so the train is oversized.

If you tally it up, this drawing cost me $302, not including the $140 worth of camera equipment I used to shoot the reference photos. Maybe buying commissions from people would be cheaper, but that means dealing with people, so fuck that.

Not really sure why these two would be chatting with a Class 91 in the background, lore-wise, as the two are familiar with each other, and no part of the East Coast Main Line looks like this, but who gives a shit?

I did a little fucky wucky with the canvas size being too big and making the filesize WAY too big, so Lana has sharper and skinnier lines.
