I been working at this WalMart for 11 years. Did many roles in different areas.
Finally got tired of working with teams of people who don't pull their weight, who fail and create more workload for you. Just really tired of being angry at people, really.
3 months ago I asked for a role change. 2 interviews later, due to a big manager musical chair escapade, I was finally remembered, and got my new role position.
I asked for Cashier. A role where I can provide service and simply do my job without relying on team members.
So far I've been feeling better, a LOT better, knowing and feeling like my services actually do make a dent. Christmas is coming, and it is hectic, but I've helped ease up the flow of traffic in our store immensely.
I'm almost feeling ready to work on comics again. Just got to fix a few more life issues first.

Now I know how my managers must've felt like years ago (when I was working) when I was working as a cashier at Kmart and asked to be transferred to the toy department a week before thanksgiving. I needed to get away from cashiering before I ended up hurting someone.

Sometimes even a simple change is enough to help you keep going. I for sure needed one, and right now, things are going okay for the first time in a long while for me.

Is milk called lait in all of Canada or just Quebec?

Milk is Lait everywhere! Just turn the package to the back side, and there's a french version advertising the product opposite of the English. Or, both english and text will be integrated to share the same front facing product display.
For instance, Cheerios cereal. Cheerios is the same word in english and french. What they did was a little clever. They've simply added smaller english text above the big Cheerios brand name, where for us it will read as "Honey nut" and then "CHEERIOS". Just below the "CHEERIOS" text it will say, again, in smaller text, "Au miel et aux noix" for the french speakers.
I might not know how to speak french as a language, but I do know Poulet = chicken, lait = milk, noix = nut, etc etc.
Do a quick google search for "french english packaging in Canada" and you'll see.
You get used to it.
Some of the international food that comes in only has one language on the original packaging. For us to sell it, all of the ingredients and information is given additional stickers with both french and english. Like, British chocolate bars. They come in as english text only on the original packaging, but the resuppliers must first comply to our laws, and have the information in both our primary languages.

Once upon a time, all packaging in the US was in English only.  However, over the last 20+ years, this has changed to English and Spanish.

Like you, I know a few words in different languages, i.e. French, Spanish, German, Japanese, etc., but I don't speak any of those languages well enough to make myself understood in them.  Of course, the funny thing is that a lot of "English" words are actually French, German, or Norwegian/Scandinavian.

I'd stand there andcount it all out, heh. My day ends when the clock runs out: you just have to outrun the angry other customers waiting behind you. >_<
