Aww, the poor sweetheart... he's still a child at heart. And the little teasing threat to Dr. Nge, hehe. Granted, given that it's just a copy of Dr. Nge and the original is dead, is it truly her?
She hasn't hurt anyone... if only Lazarus knew what he did to that prisoner (I've forgotten his name)... well, hurt, but did him a favour too. Wow she is morally complex!!

I would love to see them carried and cuddled in someone's arms so Lazarus is allowed to be a child and engage in some terribly-repressed emotional growth. Just from an image perspective, it would have the adorable "Aww" factor, assuming his nanobots haven't made him unbearably heavy that a full metal body might suggest.

Its more of a transporter paradox thing. I would consider this copy to be a new person even if it has the same memories and personality. I consider the self to be the continuity of our mindstates. Think of it like... a jam session.
When some musicians get together to have a jam session, that session exists so long as people are active in it. The moment the jam session ends, it cannot be resurrected. Even if the same musicians start jamming again, its a new jam session.
This means the self is independent of body, composition, memory, or personality. It is the continuity of your mental activity--conscious or unconscious.

I think it is a copy because her uploaded mind and her biological self were 'alive' at the same time for a while. At the very least I assume it's a separate consciousness and doesn't have Nge's soul, for lack of a better term. Getting very metaphysical here!

So a part of my original statement that I had thought about but didn't state because its deep in the weeds is this:
What if there was a period of time where nge's mind occupied both the original body and her digital 'body' at the same time? IE, two 'bodies' but one mind across both. For me, this would mean that the digital nge is still the original because it'd represent a transfer, not a copy.
(I took some clues in the comic to indicate this wasn't the case, but in my thoughts on the transporter paradox/ship of thesseus, this kind of trans-body consciousness is one of the things I thought about.)

In that sense, the moment we lose awareness by sleeping, and have no contact with our mind or sense or self, we die, and are reborn each time we wake up.
That takes "live your life like this is your last day in it" to a whole new level~
In that sense, the moment we lose awareness by sleeping, and have no contact with our mind or sense
Mind states continue throughout sleep, therefore sleep doesn't represent the end of the self. Now, cryogenic suspension on the other hand... That is you dying and somebody else with your mind and memories occupying your body.

It's an interesting thing to think about, isn't it? Nobody asked but I feel like sharing my own view on mind copies/clones. I think if it's possible (and I think it's possible) it's inevetable, but should be considered unethical and probably made illegal. The reasons are the issues of property and relationships.
If someone makes an identical copy of your mind, but you're seperate, you immediately diverge and become different people. I do think that if a backup is made, it's fair to let them continue where the original's life left off, with all the attached baggage. Plus just in general, if you're a new person with the same essential identity and personality of a person, and folks don't trust them because they did things, they won't and shouldn't trust you either, since you have the same choices/history built in.
The problems with having two copies of the same person active/alive at the same time are:
1) You both own everything that one person owned, just a moment ago, OR one of you suddenly doesn't own anything they 'owned' a moment ago, but feels like they do, and that's gonna be traumatic and worse. Further, in cases where the property is shared, it's super awkward. You might go into it knowing you're going to have to deal with it, but once a new person is copied, you're stuck with them.
2) The same deal but for relationships. Married? You both have the same spouse, emotionally, but there's only one of them (probably). You have kids? What if they only recognize one or the other as their parent? What about your parents? Will they recognize both as their child? These all get extra spicy if you consider the very likely situation that one is a pre-existing 'original' and the other (potentially others) is, to everyone else, clearly a new copy.
It's an interesting thing to think about, isn't it? Nobody asked but I feel like sharing my own view
I think that a mind can be moved to another body without copying so long as there's a transitional state where the mind exists across both brains and the brains are communicating. Like, half the brain in each body is active and linked.
That said, if a copy is made then its no different than some other situations when you consider the copy and the original to be separate people. Property-wise its like getting a divorce. Relationship-wise its like a love triangle. Humans deal with these things already, and yeah they're already pretty messy.

Great artwork on this comic page. I only hope that robot boy will be able to have parents when all the testing is done. Also, I'm glad that the digital copy of the doctor will be able to get her own body when it's completed, of course.
I can't wait to see what happens in the last comic page of this chapter 6 of Misbegotten Kittens. I'll patiently wait until the last comic page is ready to be released. Until then, good luck.

No foster care does not mean cant be adopted. There are certainly people who might be qualified enough for them, any chance any of those would be up to adopting?

And wouldn't it also be that she being part of the Lazarus system knows what he/it wishes the most and knows that she did not help with dumping all of that on him by just leaving him to his devices. She may be calculating and aloof, but even to her it is clear he/it was still a child that needed a loving home to evolve.

Poor little guy. He needs happier days. If Lazarus downloads her to a new body, would that technically make him her new dad? I am suddenly imagining her late into the night with a project just to have him remind her to rest and she yells "You're not my parent!"
But begrudgingly going for a nap anyways.

That's a heavy request. Kinda fair too. I think the Mayor is right, tragically? But on the other hand, I'm posting this reply on InkBunny, so we know there are paths to reliving childhood if you can find the right people, and a lot of us have found family in our lives.

I wonder if he could partition himself further in a manner of speaking, put the all knowing super computer aspect of himself to sleep at least in part and allow himself to develop at a more natural pace all over again. Barring emergencies of course.
Pretty sure we haven't seen him do any sort of shapeshifting so he's presumably solid, can't reformat himself into a younger body and truly relive his sadly stolen youth. But slowing himself down to a fraction of his computing power would perhaps be both a good initial restriction to more easily move amongst the populace, people get worried even hinting that you're aware of anything they've ever done that's on record, and could give him some semblance of a second childhood.
Also wonder if we've already met those who may become his adoptive parents. Doubt it would be Rayco and Vero, they're a very adorable couple but don't know if they've reached 'adopt a super-boy' level of relationship yet and seem pretty busy with their jobs and hobbies.
Lastly, any bets how long it will take Dr. Nge to build herself a new secret better body? I'm thinking three weeks.
I wonder if he could partition himself further in a manner of speaking, put the all knowing super co
Right now I'm guessing Dr. Rawhead. He knows a lot about robotics and he might grow fond of Lazarus while he is "spending some time close to him." I think miss Krolikova knows exactly what she is doing there.

I keep thinking of a funny moment from "That 70s Show." When Hyde started living with the Foremans. At one point, I don't remember the setup, but Kitty covers Hyde's ears and says, "Because he doesn't have any parents" in a loud whisper. And Hyde says in sarcastic shock, "Oh my God! I don't have any parents?!"
