Nico and Pancho #39 Waiving Good Bye
"Honey, in a while, we need to return this cruiser to the rental office back on Niyo", Samia called out to Jemu
"You're right", replied Jemu. "We have to be going. Their late fees on this cruiser aren't cheap".
"Will we ever see you again?", asked Nico.
"We'll be back again", Jemu answered. "If you two would like, we'll take you to see our world the next time we're here."
Nico and Pancho told Jamu they would like that very much.

How much is the late fee for the cruiser they rented?

It would be difficult to give a numerical figure, as the two planets, Earth and Niyo, have different monetary systems. It's not anything high enough to mortgage a house over. But it would about equal to one month's payment on one of those cruisers had one been purchased...more than the rental cost. It would be like us on Earth renting a truck for $450, and being charged an additional $1200 for returning it late. It's not uncommon for rental businesses on Niyo to stick it to you for bring their stuff back late. Sometimes, they like having their stuff come back late. It's a money maker to them whenever that happens.

Well, thankfully Rey Roo does not live on Earth. He is from Planet Qantas, which is 50 billion lights from Earth. The currency of Kangaroo Lands where he lives is the Boomer Rang Dollar. It is decimalless in value and has no cents in it. $1 = B$10 is the current exchange rate between Kangaroo Lands and the United States. It's exchange rate varies greatly by nation being traded with.

Give me some monetary info on his nation he lives in and maybe I can figure out the cost using a 3 way exchange.

Niyo's monetary system is similar to a meter in the metric measurement system. Instead of dollars and cents, it starts out with it's lowest denomination, they call a "lohn". about 8 to 12 of them would purchase their equivalent to Earth's single dip ice cream cone, snack cakes or large soda (what 10 cents bought on Earth during the 1950s). Ten lohns make one "seag" (it's a square coin). Ten seags  make one "russa".  The equivalent to nickels, quarters and 50 cent pieces don't exist. One russa will buy hand tools (Good ones. It's like getting a "snap-on ratchet for $1 ), and Earth's equivalent to wall clocks and pocket radios. Ten russas make one "bayuol"  That's the only coin that has a hole in the center. Similar to a $10 bill on Earth, But one bayuol will buy way more than $10 will buy on Earth. Ten bayuols make one "kesschenda" Meaning one thousandth of one chenda. "Kess is short for "Kessahradda", which is the word for thousandth in Civoran language. One kesschenda will make a house payment on Niyo with 3 to 6 bayuols coming back in change, depending on the cost of the house (like having a $40 to $70 per month mortgage on your home loan on Earth).
The rent on the cruiser Kassa's family rented was 3 bayuols, 8 russas and 4 seags. (= to Earth's $38.40) The late fee would have been 1 kesschenda, 4 bayuols (= to Earth's $140).  Jemu barely returned the cruiser on time.
The make and model cruiser Jemu rented, if purchased new, is 3 cetechendas, 6 heulchendas (= to Earth's $36.000), with payments @ 1 kesschenda, 6 bayuols (= to Earth's $160) per month. Because inflation is practically nonexistent on Niyo, and loan defaults rare, interest is usually less than 1% for in-house financing, and sometimes not charged at all (what the sticker price says is what you'll usally pay).
Ten kesschendas make one heulchenda (One hundredth of a chenda. Heulta is hundredth in Civoran). Ten heulchendas make one cetechenda (One tenth of a chenda. Cete is tenth in Civoran). Ten cetechendas make one chenda. That is the highest denomination coin in Niyo's monetary system. It is the most elaborate coin, and the only coin that is gold instead of silver (Lack of inflation makes it still possible to stamp coins from precious metals).
Having one chenda on Niyo is like having $100,000, when it was worth $100,000, on Earth in the year 1955.
There is no paper money. All coins. Because of the cost on everything is low, there is usually is no need to carry that much money around. And Niyo's coins are a lot smaller than Earth's coins are.

I would like to add, there are no businesses on Niyo that are "finance company only". They would not stay in business with the low interest rates. On Niyo, it is the insurance companies that are also the banks and finance companies. They make most of their income selling insurance policies, and they provide the other services to earn customer business.
