"Disguised diver"

As Cirrus happily explored the ocean at 10% size, he came across something big he'd never seen before... An underwater city! He immediately went to check it out, not even getting a breath first as he went through its gate to be polite about it-

He was stopped by the guards, blocking him with their tridents. "Hang on there, dragon, only aquatic folks are allowed in the city without a pass from the king. And you look like you don't have one." Cirrus floated there for a moment, looking back and forth between the guards. He could definitely sneak in if he went to some other area and turned to 1% size... But it'd be tough to explore the city while trying to stay hidden. Instead, he bubbled an apology and swam off. He wasn't giving up though - no, he was already thinking of a plan to get in...

Over the next few days, Cirrus plotted and prepared. Bodypaint, nose plugs, a long fake fin, and an identity to go by... Then, he was ready, rehearsing the aspects of his alter ego one more time. He'd be "Coralis", a mute sea dragon from the Atlantic ocean. He just had to hope the guards would buy it.

After diving back down and heading to the gate, he was glad to see different guards from last time, knowing he probably wouldn't be recognized. As expected, he was stopped at the gate again, though the guards simply asked him to state his business instead this time. Cirrus handed one a waterproof card explaining "who" he was and that he simply wanted to visit. Once they'd read it and handed it back, they questioned why "Coralis" was so small and had whiskers... But soon, they let him in! Cirrus happily swam into the city, knowing he shouldn't just make himself float around like he normally did. Only once he was inside did something important occur to him though... How was he going to keep up the illusion when he needed to breathe?

squirtlerocks07 and I did an RP based on this.

S: down underwater, Cirrus, an eastern dragon was exploring the ocean at his 10% size, just happily swimming around without a care in the world. As he did, he happens to come across another diver, a Gabite, who was wearing goggles and holding his nose shut as they swim around too, they were smiling a little as they seemed to be enjoying themselves

L: Cirrus smiles and swims over to join the gabite, giving them a wave. "Hbley thblere! Prblettbly niblce plblace foblr abl diblve, hbluh?"

S: "Hmm?" the gabite turns around and sees Cirrus, giving them a wave back and smiling
"Hbley! Sublre is, I dblont loblve divbling, bublt i dblo enjbloy a gblood dip unblderwater fblrom timble to timble. Nblever sbleen sombleone likble yblou beblfore, whblat ablre yblou?"

L: "Ibl'm abln eablsteblrn drblagobln, Ibl dobln't thblink thblerebl's anbly otblherbls liblke mble. Anbld yoblu're... Abl gablite, riblght?"

S: "Yblep, thblats mble! I'm a gabiblte! Niblce to meblet yblou! So whblat ablre yblou dbloing doblwn heblre? Hanblging oublt?"

L: "Prblettbly mublch, yeblah. Hblavebln't beblen arblounbld thblis pablrt oblf thble ocblean ibln abl loblng tiblme, sblo Ibl fiblgurbled Ibl'd chbleck ibln anbld seble iblf thblerebl's anblythbling neblw arblounbld."

S: "Mblakes senblse, I hblavent goblne divbling im a fblew monblths so I dblecided to gblo on onble toblday and expbllore. Mayblbe we cblan explblore toblgether?"

the gabite has a bit of a red face as they have been down here for a while

L: "Sublre! Alblthoblugh iblt dobles loblok liblke yoblu cobluld soblrt oblf usble abl brbleatblh, sblo mablybe wble shbloulbld sublrfablce fiblrst. Unbless yoblu liblke publshiblng yoblursblelf?"

S: "Actblally I dblo likble pushbling myblself somebltimes, bublt beblfore we actblally exploblre anbly debleeper togetblher we shblould geblt a frblesh brbleath, thblen ill publsh myblself a liblttle"

the gabite then heads back up to the surface, they weren't super far underwater and it doesnt take long for him to come back up and gasp for air, he waits for Cirrus to come up

L: Cirrus surfaces next to them before long, exhaling to breathe normally. "I like pushing myself too, so I'll be doing that as well. Also, if you don't feel like swimming, I can change size, so you can just ride me if you want."

S: "Oh really? Thats neat, you know what I do wanna save air for this dive, so...if you don't mind I think ill take you up on that offer. Also, how long can you hold your breath for? My record is about 20 minutes on a good day"

L: "My best is just over 47 minutes. One sec while I get some room..." Cirrus moves away from the gabite a bit, then mist briefly surrounds him as he goes to his full size, becoming 10 times bigger than he'd been. "This is actually how big I normally am."

S: "Whoa!"

the gabite swims back a bit in shock at how big Cirrus was

"First of all, wow thats an impressive time, and second of all, you're really big, I can see why you stick to the previous size you were at. Anyways, lets get ready for this dive"

taking some deep breaths, the gabite climbs onto Cirrus's body and gets comfortable

L: "I've had a lot of breath holding practice, believe me. And yeah, I generally use that smaller size when I'm exploring, although I sometimes go even smaller. Anyway!" Cirrus starts deeply breathing too.

S: "Smaller huh? Neato! I think were gonna be good friends!"

The gabite keeps deeply breathing until he feels like hes ready to go

L: Cirrus feels ready at about the same time. "Alright, if you're ready, one more deep breath and we'll get started!"

S: the gabite nods and takes a last deep breath and held it in, ready to dive

L: Cirrus nods back, holds his breath as well, and dives back underwater with the gabite on him.

S: the gabite pinches his nose shut as they dive down, smiling as he's back underwater

L: Once they're back at the bottom, Cirrus pauses for a moment to look around for anything interesting, before just setting off in a random direction.

S: the gabite keeps holding onto Cirrus as he looks around for anything cool as well

L: As the two search around, they soon come across... An underwater city of some kind!

"Whblat thble... Thblis wablsn't hblere whblen Ibl lablst cablme bly!"

S: "Whobla, whblat ibls thblat thbling?! Lblooks likble a ciblty oblf somble sorblt! Cblool!"

L: "Oblh, wble HBLAVE tblo gblo seble whblat's ibln iblt!" Cirrus excitedly heads toward the city, speeding up some.

S: "Whbloa fablst!"

the gabite holds on a bit tighter as Cirrus sped up

"Thblis is excbliting! Ive nblever beblen to an unblderwater ciblty befblore!"

L: "Anbld I'vble neblver seblen onble thblis biblg beblforble!"

When the two get to the gate, after a moment of marveling at the size of the place, they try to go in before an anthro great white shark stops them.

Shark: "Hang on there, only fish are allowed in here."

S: "Whblat!? Yblou've gotblta be kibldding mble! Whbly? I dblont unblderstand..."

its clear the gabite was very disappointed, he really wanted to go explore the city

L: Shark: "That's just how it works here, no air breathers allowed."

Cirrus: "Ugblh, thblat's sblo stblupibld! Wble wablnt tblo coblme ibln!"

S: "Ybleah! Coblme obln! Jublst mablke an excbleption!"

the gabite tries to act cute towards the shark to convince them to let them in, but it seems Cirrus would have an idea on how to get in even if they said no

L: Shark: "No exceptions, or I'm going to lose my job."

Cirrus: "Fiblne, whblateblver..." He starts swimming away, and whispers to the gabite "Dobln't woblrry, I'vble goblt abln idblea. Webl'll nebled tblo leblave thble wablter foblr abl whblile thblougblh."

S: "Thblats fiblne, I gbluess pusblhing oublrselves will hablve to wblait, I rbleally wannbla exploblre thblat ciblty!"

L: "Webl'll seble iblt, itbl'll jublst tablke soblme woblrk..." Cirrus brings the gabite up to the surface with him.

"So, here's what we're gonna do: I'll disguise both of us as fish, and then we'll be let in for sure!"

S: the gabite exhales to breathe normally once they surface

"Oh? Well I suppose that could work, but how in the world are we gonna do that?"

L: "I've got some experience with disguises... My home's a fairly short flight from here, and I've got plenty of materials there for this sort of thing."

S: "Never put on a disguise before, but if its to get into that city then I'm all for this, lets give it a shot!"

L: "Okay, we'll head on over to my place and get things set up." Cirrus starts heading back to shore in the direction of where he lives.

S: the gabite was pretty excited about this, he hopes the disguise will actually work

L: When the two arrive at the hidden temple Cirrus lives in, the dragon wastes no time in making disguises for them. His own makes him blue with a long prosthetic fin along his back and fake gills on his neck.

S: the gabite's own disguise makes him grey, with a long prosthetic grey tail that looks like something a fish would have, a fake fin attached to his back, even some fake webbing for his hands, and of course some fake gills on the side of his neck as well, all this making him look like a real anthro shark

L: Cirrus looks over the disguises once more, making sure they're perfect. "...I think we're good. Time to finally get ourselves into that city!"

S: "I hope our disguises work! And I hope nobody will become suspicious if I'm wearing goggles, i can't be underwater without them, What exactly are you supposed to be tho?"

L: "We could probably pass off your goggles as glasses... My disguise is meant to be a sea dragon. They're rare and usually bigger than this, but it should be fine."

S: "Alright, I guess lets give this a shot then, this better work! Being painted grey is a little weird, heh. Oh and, how are we gonna make sure no bubbles escape us without it making it look obvious?"

L: "Right, that... Oh, hang on." Cirrus quickly grabs some noseplugs, handing the gabite a pair. "That'll keep them from getting out through your nose, but talking underwater is still gonna give us away."

S: the gabite takes his pair of noseplugs and puts them aside for now

"Well that complicates things... we'll have to stay quiet so no bubbles escape us... thats gonna be tough..."

L: "We could pretend we can't talk, there's plenty of people like that. Think I've got a couple waterproof slates here we can use to write on so we don't have to say anything out loud."

S: "Guess that could work, get those slates then, alright I think we've got everything else, so lets do this thing for real!

L: "Yep, let's finally go see what's in that city..." After grabbing the slates, Cirrus starts flying back to the ocean with the gabite, near where the underwater city is.

S: "Think I'm gonna swim around this time since I don't want anyone to be suspicious"

the gabite heads into the water once they were above the water

L: "That's probably for the best, yeah." Cirrus drops down into the water as well, and puts his noseplugs in.

"Really hope this is gonna work... It should, but we're gonna get in a lot of trouble if it doesn't..." He starts deeply breathing too.

S: "I really hope this works too"

as he deeply breaths, the gabite puts his own noseplugs in as well

"Ugh, these noseplugs feel funny, ive never put them on before, gonna take some time to get used to it. Least were actually gonna get to push ourselfs a little this time"

L: "I don't like these either, but it'll be worth it. It ought to be fun to see how long we can stay there, but we definitely need to be careful once we start blushing from needing air. Our disguises should partially hide that, but they eventually won't be enough."

S: "Shoot your right, we better be careful then..."

after a few more minutes of deep breathing

"Alright, I'm ready to go whenever you are"

L: "Let's do this!" Cirrus holds his breath and dives, waiting for the gabite to join him.

S: the gabite holds his breath as well and dives under too, he usually puffs his cheeks but since he's trying to disguise himself as a shark he obviously doesnt do that, trying to make it so he's not really holding his breath. Nodding to Cirrus he starts to swim back to the entrance of the city, keeping the slate with him so he can write something on it if needed

L: Cirrus makes sure not to puff his cheeks either, as he resumes going down. He hopes that there'll be a different guard this time, since the original would probably still recognize the two.

S: as the two continue down, they eventually make it back to the entrance of the city, luckily for them, there was a different guard then last time, this one was an anthro eel, who sees the two of them approaching

Eel - "Well well, what do we have here??"

L: Cirrus waves to the eel, and quickly writes on his slate. "Hi, we'd like to come in, if that's alright. Sorry we can't talk out loud, we're both mute."

S: the gabite waves at the eel as well, trying to not let any bubbles escape his mouth

Eel - "Hmm, you're both mute huh? A sea dragon and a shark, never seen a mute of either of those before, and hang on a second arent sea dragons normally a bit bigger then this? And, whats with the shark wearing goggles?"

the gabite was a bit worried the eel was onto them before quickly writing on his slate

Gabite - "He's a much rarer type of sea dragon, so hes a bit smaller then all the average ones, and these arent goggles, they are glasses, cant see well without them"

L: "Yeah, I'm a fairly small species of sea dragon. And my friend here likes getting a bit fancy with his glasses, that strap helps keep them on when he's swimming fast."

S: Eel - "I see, makes sense I suppose, they do look rather cool on that shark, guess im just seeing some rare ones today. Well, you both are cleared to enter, enjoy the city!"

the eel swims out of the way so the two can enter

Gabite - "Thanks so much!"

the gabite doesnt waste anytime in swimming into the city

L: "Thanks!" Cirrus quickly follows the gabite in, and happily looks around in excitement.

"I've never seen a place like this before, this is so cool!"

S: "I know right?! Where do we even start exploring?! There's so much to do over here! Can't believe our disguise worked too!"

some bubbles do finally escape the gabite's mouth

L: Cirrus quickly grabs the bubbles so nobody around sees them. "Careful there... Maybe we could start with seeing what sorts of entertainment they have here? That's always my first choice when I'm exploring a new town."

S: the gabite quickly covers his mouth for a brief second before writing on his slate again

"Oops, sorry...its really hard to keep the bubbles in. But yeah, lets go check to see what sort of entertainment this city has then!"

L: Cirrus nods, and starts swimming through the city with the gabite.

It's a fairly busy place, with all sorts of aquatic folks around, and Cirrus happily takes in the sights.

S: the gabite happily takes in the sights too, his face was flushing just a little red, but thankfully its not enough to be visible

"Wow, look at this place, its amazing, I can't wait to see what kind of entertainment is around here!"

L: "There's gotta be some nearby..."

And there do seem to be a few places: A couple arcades, a movie theater, even a section that looks like a park.

S: "There's a lot of options here... how about we go to one of the arcades? I love arcade games!"

L: "I'm not usually one for arcades, but it'll be interesting to see how different the games are." Cirrus heads for the arcade, beginning to blush just a little bit. Thankfully, like he'd hoped, his disguise is hiding it for now.

S: "Guess thats a key difference between us then"

the gabite always heads over to the arcade, and by the time the two get there, there were a lot of aquatic animals at this particular arcade, and there were a lot of different games too, even one where there's an air pocket and the goal for the fish is to stay above the water for as long as possible and a specific time is in place to get the jackpot

L: "Hmm..." Cirrus looks up at that air pocket game, then smiles. "You know, that game there would be pretty easy for an air-breather to win..."

S: the gabite looks over at it too

"Oooh, we would be massive cheaters at that game, but hey getting the jackpot would at least be a piece of cake, there seems to be some creatures over there already, imagine their faces when we do it so easily, I bet that would be funny!"

L: "I might end up feeling a little bad, but... Well, it won't make things much worse if we get found out. Let's do it!" Cirrus heads over to the game.

S: "Sweet! Come on ill be fun! I promise!"

as the two head over there, an anthro fish had just finished in the air pocket, visibly out of breath

Fish - "Aww rats! I was so close to the jackpot! Well not really but at least I got some tickets... oh hey, looks like we've got a couple of newbies here!"

L: Cirrus waves to them. "My friend and I are gonna rock this, we've both got great breath holds."

S: Gabite - "Yep! We're gonna get the jackpot for sure!"

Fish - "Hmmph, a couple mute creatures being good at breath holding, I love to see you try, my friend and I tried and we both couldnt even get close to the jackpot time"

L: "You'll see, we'll both handle this just fine." After pretending to prepare himself, Cirrus goes up into the air pocket, even puffing his cheeks as he does.

S: Gabite - "Yep!"

the gabite also pretended to prepare himself before heading up to the air pocket too, puffing his own cheeks before quietly giggling

L: With no fish in the air pocket, Cirrus takes the opportunity to catch his breath. Just to be safe though, he still doesn't talk out loud. "Didn't think we'd be getting a chance to breathe here!"

S: the gabite quietly catches his own breath too but still doesnt talk out loud

"I know right? What luck I guess! I know we'll be pushing ourselves soon enough tho, now we'll just wait here until we get to that jackpot time and shock everyone!"

L: "They'll all be pretty surprised a couple random people showed up and got the jackpot out of nowhere... We'll have to be a bit quick about grabbing our prizes, they might end up pretty suspicious of us."

S: "Yeah, but I'm sure we'll be fine!"

a couple minutes pass by and soon the jackpot bell can be heard ringing, signaling that the two of them got to the jackpot time. Once that happened, the gabite quietly takes a deep breath and held it before diving back underwater, then immediately pretends to be out of breath as some of the fish folk were in complete shock

L: Cirrus holds his breath and returns down too, putting on the same act as the gabite.

A nearby anthro tuna is the first to speak. "I... I've never seen anyone EVER win that before!"

S: the gabite smirks

"Told you we could do it! It was too easy!! Haha!"

Fish - "Unbelievable! How!?!"

L: Cirrus: "We've got our ways!"

Tuna: "Man, I really want to know... Ugh..."

S: "Me too...ugh, im so jealous!"

both the gabite and Cirrus go collect their jackpot prize for getting the time while all the other fish are still in complete shock about this

L: As Cirrus and the gabite are getting the prize, a familiar great white shark happens to swim into the arcade, having finished their shift.

Cirrus freezes for a moment as he sees them, then turns to the gabite. "We're gonna need to leave quick, that shark that was at the gate is here!"

S: the gabite froze too for a moment as he sees the shark too

Gabite - "Uh oh, thats not good, yeah we gotta go, NOW! I just hope he doesnt actually recognize us if he does see us!"

L: Cirrus starts to head out of the arcade, but the shark does actually end up noticing him.

Shark: "Hm, interesting to meet a sea dragon here. ...Wait, you look kind of familiar..."

Cirrus: "I don't think we've met? I don't recognize you."

S: the gabite was right next to Cirrus

Gabite - "Me neither, I don't think we've ever truly met each other"

L: Shark: "You actually look familiar too... Sorry about this if I'm wrong." He reaches out and touches Cirrus' "gills". "Those are fake! You ARE those air breathers that were trying to get in earlier!"

Cirrus talks out loud, knowing there's no point in hiding it any more. "Oblh jeblez, wble nebled tblo gblo!"

S: the gabite's eyes go wide at that before talking out loud too

"Ublgh! Ablre yblou kidbldding mble!?!?"

the gabite quickly gets around the shark and swims away

Fish - "Whoa, those are air breathers?? No wonder they did so well in the air pocket game! Cheaters!"

L: Tuna: "That explains it! I should've known!"

Cirrus follows the gabite out, then holds him and speeds up as he starts rushing for the gate. "I'lbl geblt ubls oublt, thbley shbloulbldn't ble able tblo keblep ublp!"

The shark swims out to chase after them. "Someone give me a hand, we've got air breathers in the city!"

S: the fish from eariler actually joins in on the chase, they were pretty fast

Fish - "You get back here!!! Right now!"

Gabite - "Hublrry Ciblrrus!!! Gblo as fblast as yblou cblan!!! I dblont wannbla gblo to jblail!!!"

his face turns red again

L: Even the tuna tries to come after the two as well. "Come here, you frauds!"

Cirrus: "Yeblah, itbl's noblt goblnna enbld webll iblf thbley cabltch ubls!" He goes up to as close to his full speed as he can get without risking running into anything.

S: Fish - "Goodness me he's fast!"

the Fish is having a hard time keeping with Cirrus' crazy speed

the two finally exit the city and the gabite immediately points up to the surface, thankfully they arent super far down

L: And now that there's no worry about potentially hitting anything, Cirrus stops holding back his speed and bolts for the surface incredibly fast, with enough speed that his fake fin falls off.

The tuna and shark watch him rise away, sighing as they give up on the chase.

Shark: "There's no way we're catching them... I'm sure they know better than to come back, at least."

S: Fish - "Dang it... I hope i never see those two again!"

even the gabite's fake fin falls off with how fast he was going, and soon enough the two surface with no problems, the gabite gasping for air a bit

Gabite - "Hah...hah...phew, that was a close one! Jeez you are very fast!!"

L: Cirrus breathes heavily for a moment from the exertion. "P-pretty handy to be so fast when I need to be... All things considered, I think that trip actually went pretty well!"

S: "Yeah, it sure did... even if we got caught and all that. At least we got to see some of the city... anyways, lets go back and take our costumes off, im done being a shark, heh"

the gabite takes his nose plugs off of him

L: "Worth it, for sure." Cirrus takes out his noseplugs as well. "Glad I managed to hang onto that prize we got! Even if we kind of don't deserve it..."

S: "Oh right yeah, thats nice"

and so, the gabite and Cirrus safely head back to Cirrus' temple to take the costumes off, even if they got caught, the gabite seemed to have had a good time regardless
