"Living insulators"

A part of the aquatic base Sni-tii works in (At least in this timeline) has been badly maintained, and not only has it flooded, but live exposed cables in it are making it really dangerous to go into! While one of the electricians is ready to fix it, the protective equipment needed for it isn't... But, that's where Sni-tii's ability comes in. With a tap to herself and the lizard, the two turn to rubber, making it perfectly safe! She accompanies him just in case maintaining her power has a range limit, and while she knows she's safe, it's definitely still disconcerting to see a cable visibly sparking into the water. Hopefully it'll be dealt with soon, as the lizard pulls some waterproof tools from his toolbox to get started on the fixes.

squirtlerocks07 and I did an RP based on this.

S: In this timeline, Sni-tii works in an aquatic base, everything seemed ok, except for one part of it thats completely submerged and badly maintained. Some wires were exposed making it dangerous to go into it, and this part of the base was huge compared to the rest, so this needs to get done asap. Luckily, a lizard electrician was called and was ready to deal with the problem, except... he doesnt know that he has to fix it underwater, at least not yet, and the wires that are exposed could be deadly to touch and there was no equipment around to stay safe from it

L: Being the one assigned to help out the lizard, Sni-tii meets up with him once he arrives. "Glad you could make it, we're really being held back waiting for the repairs... I'm here to give you a hand with whatever you need. Heh, even though I don't have hands myself."

S: the lizard wore a pair of trunks and had his toolkit in his hand, he chuckles a bit at what Sni-tii said

"You did the right thing calling me! I'm one of the best electricians out there, you just leave it to me! Why don't you show me where the problem is?"

L: "Yep, it's not too far, come with me." Sni-tii slithers along to lead the way. "Oh, by the way, how good are you at holding your breath? We need to go into one of the underwater sections."

S: as the lizard follows, his eyes go wide as he heard what Sni-tii said

"Umm, decent I suppose, maybe like, 9-10 minutes... I didnt...expect to go underwater, I thought this whole place was completely dry"

Its clear the lizard was a little nervous about submerging

L: "That should be plenty of time... But yeah, parts of this base are full of water for the aquatic people that work here, and there's no way to drain them, so we'll have to dive for a while."

S: "Aw man... thats like the one thing I don't like about this job, having to submerge, I don't really want to, but I still need to do those repairs..."

L: "It at least shouldn't take too long to get it done. I've seen the problem spot myself, and while I may not be an electrician, it didn't seem to me like it'll be that tough."

S: "Well if you say so, could you describe what the problem is tho? Just so I could be prepared"

they eventually get to the section where the base goes underwater and down there was the issue

L: "Just a bunch of exposed wires, which..." Sni-tii pauses as she remembers an important issue. "...Are live, we can't turn them off without making things worse, and we don't have any protective gear for you..."

S: "Oh shoot, well that's a big problem, how am I supposted to fix it if I can't stay safe?"

L: "Um... Oh, I keep forgetting! The end of my tail can transform people, I can turn us both into rubber and then we won't have any issues with that."

S: "Say what?? Your tail can turn us into rubber, um...can I see this? This sounds a bit far-fetched"

L: "Sure, I'll do it to myself first." Sni-tii taps herself with her tail, and her body becomes shiny as she's now made of rubber. "Pretty neat, huh? Haven't found a material it can't do yet."

S: The lizard's eyes go wide in shock at he sees this before touching sni-tii's new rubber body a bit

"Wow, thats pretty cool! Never knew anyone who could do that"

L: "Even I originally couldn't, I got this power from a crystal I found in an underwater cave once. It's been fun to play around with being different things."

S: "Oh I see! Well um, I guess were all set for me to fix this up then..."

the lizard was still nervous

L: "Pretty much, yeah, just have to make you rubber too." Sni-tii pokes the lizard with her tail, turning him to rubber. "Now we should be good to go."

S: "Whoa! Alright then, well...guess we better do this..."

The lizard pulls out some goggles and puts them on before heading into the water nervously

L: Sni-tii gets out goggles of her own and puts them on, then follows the lizard into the water. "You okay? You're still looking pretty nervous."

S: "S-sorry, its just that its not very often that I go underwater for a job, its only ever happened to me a few times... I always get nervous whenever I'm somewhere unbreathable. Even before I got this job I was terrified of submerging. Now I'm at least a little better because my job sort of required me to test my breath holding skills and I had to practice a little, and I'm not as scared as before, but I still get uneasy about it from time to time"

L: "Don't worry, you're definitely not the first person I've seen be nervous about water, I've got a few friends like that. It's good that you've gotten better at handling it, hopefully someday you won't be scared at all any more."

S: "Yeah I dont know, maybe someday... but I'm gonna try and put on a brave face and do this thing...as nervous as I am"

L: "Yep, let's get this done, no point in sitting around scared. Ready whenever you are. And don't worry about me, I'm way better at holding my breath than you are."

S: the lizard tries his best to dive but he couldn't convince himself to do so, he turns back to Sni-tii with a frown

"I think I'm too nervous, you think I could um, get a hug? Hugs always help me calm down, and I'm betting a snake hug feels even better then a normal one"

L: "Sure! Might feel a little weird from the rubber, but I'm always up for hugging." Sni-tii wraps herself around the lizard in a hug.

S: The lizard's eyes go wide at how good the hug from Sni-tii is, he instantly relaxes, hugging her back and wagging his tail a bit

"Wow, I was right, this DOES feel better when a snake hugs you, I don't even notice the rubber in the hug..."

L: "You don't need arms to be a good hugger! Once we're done I can make myself into a plush and you can try a hug like that, apparently it feels even better."

S: "Wait for real?? Oh I have to try that out! I bet it feels really good!"

Eventually the lizard fully calms down, smiling at Sni-tii

"Thanks again sni-tii, I feel a lot better now and ready to do this"

L: Sni-tii unwraps from around the lizard. "Then let's get to it, hopefully it won't take more than one dive to get this fixed. Let me know if you need air, I can turn into a pool toy or balloon and you can breathe from me."

S: "Thats...a little weird, but alright, hopefully I won't need a refill of air anyways"

The lizard takes a few deep breathes to prepare himself for the dive and after a final breath he holds it in and dives under, theres a hint of fear still lingering on his face

L: Sni-tii gasps a breath herself, then follows him in, slithering on the bottom and motioning for the lizard to follow as she leads him to the wires.

S: while the lizard was briefly surprised that Sni-tii wasnt swimming, he shakes it off and follows her towards the wires that need fixed

L: It's not too long of a trip, only about a minute, before the two arrive. It certainly looks a bit unsettling, as the wires visibly spark in the water, but thanks to being rubber Sni-tii and the lizard are both unaffected.

S: the lizard swims over to the wires with his toolkit, he kneels down and opens it, pulling out some tools

"Ahbla, I sblee thble problblem...thblis shblouldnt tablke lonlng"

useing his tools he starts to fix one of the exposed wires

L: "Alrblight, good. Take yoblur time, no rublsh." Sni-tii coils herself up while waiting for the lizard.

S: The lizard works on the wire, trying to ignore the fact that he can't breathe, after a few minutes he fixes that wire then swims up a bit to get the next one, his face turning red before he turns to Sni-tii, needing a little help

"Coubld yblou hablnd me mbly tweeblzers from my kiblt? I gblotta kbleep mbly hablnd on thble wiblre"

L: "Right, yeblp." Sni-tii rummages in the kit for a few seconds, before finding the tweezers and passing them to the lizard.

S: he grabs them and nods

"Thblanks"

then he goes back to work on the wire using the tweezers. He grunts a bit from his need to breathe, his face flushing more red but he still does he best to ignore it

L: Sni-tii watches the lizard, getting a little bit concerned about his face going red... But she trusts he won't push himself far.

S: eventually he finally fixes that wire, before quickly covering his mouth and whining out some bubbles

"N-nebled ablir..."

L: "Okay, hblere!" Sni-tii turns herself into a pool toy - thankfully still rubber - and a couple handles appear on her back, along with a valve on the end of her tail. She also immediately floats up to the ceiling. "Oh, should've exblpected that. Anyway, you cabln breathe from thblat valve on my tablil."

S: the lizard then goes over to the valve, it was very weird for him to breathe into something like this, but needing air he opens the valve and breathes in the air inside, his blush fading away before he closes it up

"Thblanks... thblat fblelt bizblzare..."

L: "It always feblels weird for mble too, it's liblke you're pulling air oublt of my lungs... Bublt anyway, I've got pleblnty more when you nebled it." She switches back to just being normal rubber, sinking back down.

S: with a full set of lungs the lizard goes back to work fixing the wires, and after just a few more short minutes, with the lizard getting air one more time, everything seems to be all good to go

"Oblk, thblat sblhould dblo iblt, evblerythings all fblixed!"

L: Sni-tii is blushing some now, but still calm. "Alright, niblce! I'm sure you're eablger to get back tblo air, so let's hblead back."

S: "Yebls veblry mublch sblo"

the lizard grabs his toolkit, putting some of the tools away, then swims back towards the surface to get some fresh air finally

L: Sni-tii goes back to the surface as well, turning herself and the lizard back to normal once they both get there, and gasping a bit when she surfaces. "I'm glad this was such a quick job, it could've easily turned out to be a way bigger problem."

S: the lizard gasps as well when he surfaces

"Thankfully it was just a few wires that needed to be put back into place, and it was pretty easy to do. Glad that was simple enough... oh um, you think I could get that plush hug now before I go?"

L: "Oh, yep, almost forgot!" Sni-tii turns herself into a plush, complete with a little tag near the end of her tail, and wraps around the lizard for another hug. "How's this?"

S: "Whoa..." the lizard was pleasantly surprised at how good the hug feels now
"Ok you weren't kidding, this DOES feel better then before! I love it!" he hugs sni-tii back, his tail wagging happily

L: "I guess that proves it then, this form really is better for hugging! If it's alright with you, I kind of want to feel it for myself..." Sni-tii turns the lizard into a plush as well.

S: "Ooh...I feel soft... hehe!" The lizard hugs Sni-tii a bit tighter, letting her feel how good a plush hug really feels

L: "Mm, yep, this is pretty great..." Sni-tii closes her eyes and smiles, relaxing into the feeling.

S: the lizard closes his own eyes too to relax for a moment, he really is enjoying this a lot, continuing to hug Sni-tii

L: After a while, Sni-tii lets go of the lizard. "R-right, um... I won't keep you, you've probably got places to be. But thanks for that."

S: the lizard smiles

"No worries, its not like I have be there right away, but your welcome, and please let me know whenever you get more electrical problems alright?"

he waits to get turned back to normal before he would leave

L: Sni-tii switches both herself and the lizard back to normal. "Yep, I'll make sure my boss knows you're a pretty good pick for this stuff!"

S: "Thanks for saying that, anyways I'm off, see ya!"

the lizard heads off, another job successful even tho he had to submerge
