The summer heat in Japan has become more repressive every year. This July the terrible heat was combined with the worst ever rain shortage. In traditional rice cultivation regions like Niigata and Tohoku, it was as low as 2% compared to average July rainfall. It's very scary. If the summer continues like this it will be difficult to continue domestically growing rice. Then this week Tokyo is getting torrential rain overwhelming the drainage systems, which is also getting worse every year, the weather is completely off-balance. Japan's climate is becoming more tropical like South-East Asia, but adaptation is too slow.
