How do you keep from getting yourself overloaded with characters? I have more ideas than I know what to do with.

Keeping a list helps.  Even then, there's still those I draw all the time and those I unfortunately neglect.

I've noticed you have different characters with military backgrounds in various European and other SOF units, which is another subject that I like diving in lol. Do you decide on the unit before making the character or do you start with the character first and then go into background? For me, it's a both.

I guess a bit of column A, a bit of column B.  Sometimes I have an idea for a character (military or other) and then work on designing them, and sometimes (and honestly the more frequent over the years) I'll have a one- or two-off character that I like the design a lot and decide to keep them, filling in the backstory as I go.
