"Do they know of this?"

They did know. They knew all of it. They were the cause of it in the first place, and she hated them for it. Hated that they weren't involved unless it benefitted them. Hated that they only took interest in their own daughter when it was a negative impact on them.

She wanted them to be more involved. Wanted their approval and respect. All she ever got was dismissive gestures from one and cold glares from the other. Never anything else. No support. No interest. Nothing.

But did that mean she wanted them stripped of their title and power? Did she want them disgraced and discarded? In a different world she would have said yes. She would have wanted them to suffer and face the consequences in a world that was worth it in the end.

That wasn't this world though and although she wanted them to hurt, she couldn't say those words. She was unable to. It was part of their deal with her.

In the end, she took the blame for them. They knew she would.
