The group rushed out of the Sedgewick Hotel, and upon meeting the fourth Ghostbusters Winston, Priere, and Nina outside, they all saw the same thing: a giant marshmallow man was wandering through town, destroying everything in his path.
"Wasn’t me this time, I swear." Ray said to Egon, as they watched what was happening in front of them.
"Let's see, before doing what I can imagine, I have a question to ask the ‘professionals’." Edea said, catching their attention. "What the heck is that thing?!"
"That thing is Gozer, an ancient Sumerian god with the power to destroy a world." Egon explained.
"And why does he look so weird?" Edea asked.
"When Gozer is summoned into a world, it requires its people to choose its Destroyer form with which to destroy the world." Egon explained.
"And just think who thought of that thing in our first meeting." Peter said, gesturing towards Ray.
"I told you before that I'm sorry, okay?" Ray said. "Can we focus on this?"
"He’s right. We must find a way to stop that thing." Kairi said.
"And how? In case you haven't noticed, that thing is huge." Edea said, emphasizing the last word and the size of the Marshmallow Man.
“Well, we have to do something. Its mere presence can attract unwelcomed company, so it must be neutralized as soon as possible." Eve said.
"Okay, I'll ask again, and how?"
“I suggest that we follow him. Hopefully, we will figure out how to neutralize it." Egon suggested.
"Do you want us to follow a 30-meter giant edible doll that is destroying the city, with the possibility that more paranormal entities will jump us along the way?" Winston asked at Egon's suggestion. "Well, we better hope that the Super slammer works against that."
"Super Slammer?" Rena asked.
“The Muon Trap above Ecto-1: It may be able to serve against the minions of a god, but that function was never intended. But a Muon trap of this capacity has never been used, or even tried." Egon explained.
“Well, we better have it work. Otherwise, we will have serious problems." Edea said.
"Yeah, but we have to fight our way through this disaster first, as I recall, the Ecto-1 cannot pass through vehicles." Winston said
Soon that doubt became the least of their problems because, without warning from the residue that the Marshmallow Man left on the ground, small dog-like beings made of marshmallows and flames began to appear.
"Lordy help us! Stay Puft is somehow hatching these… mini minions from himself. Well, there’s paranormal physiology for ya. Always something to make your stomach turn. " Ray said when he saw the Marshmallow Mini.
"Seriously, now isn't the time to get excited about these things." Priere scolded Ray.
"Although I don't think they are that difficult to deal." Rena said.
Nina soon cast a spell that impacted the marshmallow monsters, destroying them on the spot, but Stay Puft was angered by this and caused more damage, indirectly opening more paths for the vehicle, but also called attention to various homeless ghosts and workers who went to them.
“Multiple class 5 FRV’s! Inbound!" Winston exclaimed as he saw the ghosts approaching.
"And they aren’t the only ones!" Rena exclaimed.
Sure enough, several Skeleton Soldiers and Elemental Wraiths were heading towards them along with the ghosts.
"Do you think the Super Slammer will work with those things?" Peter asked upon seeing the Fallen.
“You guys focus on the ghosts! We take care of the Fallen!" Kairi exclaimed.
"Ray, prepare the Muon trap." Egon said to Ray.
"Switching on the Muon trap." Ray said, activating the trap.
"Oh yeah! My favorite song: Switched-on Muon trap! " Winston exclaimed at once.
The Ghostbusters focused on the spirits that were attacking them, while Kairi and the others focused on the Fallen that had appeared at the scene.
Rena used her arrows to neutralize at least the aerial Fallen, just when she saw that she could shoot Stay Puft, and without losing the opportunity she launched an arrow against the forehead of the marshmallow giant, but it only hit him, making the huge being start laughing.
"Nice try, but to no avail." Winston commented. “We tried that once, and we almost got scorched. I almost ended up burning my eyebrows and everything." Rena frowned when she saw that that didn't work at first.
During the scuffle, Nina and Priere could see how Makoto was easily defending herself from the monsters that were attacking them. And what was most surprising was that she did it with her fists, which impressed Priere.
As they faced the Fallen and the ghosts, they soon reached a point where the destruction was such that they could not move on, losing sight of Stay Puft. Fortunately, they managed to find a detour to cross, hoping to intercept the giant marshmallow man.
“This, a question. Do you think this thing, the Super Slammer, will work with that giant?" Makoto asked.
"The lady is right." Peter said. "Is this a big enough stick to roast this guy?"
"Potentially. But our exposure to inter-dimensional deities has been only marginal to date, so it would be wise to anticipate some error. " Egon explained.
"Come on, either it works, or we are the ones who are roasted." Rena said.
"We should at least try." Kairi said. "Right now a lot of people depend on us."
"Well said!" Ray said.
Following the shortcut, they soon reached a point where they could continue their pursuit. On that route, Priere noticed some strange black slime around the area and was tempted to see what it was, but Ray stopped her.
"Whoa, wait! Don't touch that!" Priere flushed a bit at the Ghostbuster's warning. "That’s what I thought. Black slime. "
"Black slime?" Nina asked.
“We already saw them at the hotel, but Venkman didn't give us many explanations about it. Just that we were careful. " Kairi said.
"And he’s right." Ray said. “Black slime is a hazardous form of ectoplasmic residue. Toxic for body and soul. Very dangerous. Egon and I haven’t developed clothes and boots sufficient to insulate against the negative psychokinetic effects of this stuff yet, so be careful. "
"In other words, the stains don’t ever come out." Said Winston sarcastically
"I think stains are the least of our problems right now." Eve said.
"Come on, let's find that huge thing and get this over with, okay?" Edea proposed.
Just then a car flew past them on a nearby street, and when they went to look, they found Stay Puft wreaking havoc down the street.
"Say, is that him?" Asked Peter.
"He’s hard to miss.”
Suddenly he launched a car flying that crashed near them.
"Egon, how close do we have to get for the big trap to reel him in?" Asked Peter.
"A lot closer than this." Egon replied.
"You’re kidding. Do we have to get under him or what? " Edea asked.
"I hope not. I don't want to get closer to that thing more than necessary. " Nina said.
They soon realized that Stay Puft was staring into the holes in the buildings, even reaching inside.
"He's... looking for something." Ray commented.
"Is he looking for something or someone?"
"As if we didn't have enough troubles..." Kairi said.
"Come on, this time you will need brute force." Priere said.
"I'd better join you this time." Nina said.
"Well, whatever, let's go." Ray said, running over to where Stay Puft is, followed by Kairi, Priere, and Nina, while Makoto followed them as well.
"Guys, we have a problem." Egon said over the radio as he watched the Super Slammer. "It's damaged. I’ve got to fix it or we don’t stand a chance. "
"We need to get from here to there... make sure the big boy doesn't find whatever he's looking for!" Ray said.
"Good strategy." Egon said. "It’s dangerous, though... that’s a lot of open ground to cover."
"Alright. Looks like it’s me and you." Ray said to the girls who were with him. “Let's go across Times Square and get into the building Stay Puft is so interested in. You guys keep him off us if you think you can! "
"He knows you're there, Ray!" Egon exclaimed as Stay Puft approached them. "I don't think he likes it."
"Why does it have to be so big?" Kairi asked as she saw Stay Puft approach.
"Yep. He spotted us. Keep moving! " Ray exclaimed.
"You don't have to repeat it." Makoto said, starting to run along with the others.
Ray, Kairi, Makoto, Nina, and Priere recoiled from the giant marshmallow man's huge steps while avoiding the objects that he threw at them while trying to reach the building that interested Stay Puft so much.
“Venkman! You gotta distract him! " Ray said on the radio, but he received no response. “Venkman! Are you getting coffee?! Venkman’s getting coffee! "
"But hey, is there no one with that... buffon?!" Priere asked.
"Sorry. Right now we are busy with some 'acquaintances' who have invited themselves, so your colleagues cannot leave us here. You are alone." Winston said over the radio. "But if you see Peter, you can pour his coffee on him."
"Thanks for the help." Makoto said sarcastically.
“Less sarcasm, please. Or have you forgotten the giant that is upon us? " Nina commented.
The group continued to elude Stay Puft's attacks until they managed to reach the building, where there were still citizens trapped by the chaos outside.
"It’s okay! Ghostbusters! It's just a class 5 thought-form Crossrip! The professionals are here!" Ray said to the people downstairs.
“Just a class 5 thought-form Crossrip? Ah, then I am calmer!" Priere exclaimed sarcastically.
“Everybody calmly exit the streets! Make no sudden movements! " Ray kept saying as people fled through the emergency exit until suddenly a Mini Marshmallow came through the window. "What the...!"
And not only did the Marshmallow Mini entered the building, skeletons wearing sheet-covered metal plate armor on their shoulders, forearms, hands, and shins also came in, as well as wearing a metal helmet with a trident-shaped ornament on top, and a metal mask that covers its face, leaving only its empty sockets visible (Bone Shredder), plus some Skeletons Archer and Wargs.
"Yikes! As if we can't get enough with our paranormal entities now." Said Ray, seeing the Fallen arrive. "Can you take care of them while I fry these sweet pooches?"
Without responding, the girls confronted the Fallen who were entering the building alongside the Mini Marshmallows. The Archer Skeletons and Wargs were fairly straightforward compared to the Bone Shredder, which moved nimbly while being covered by the Fallen and Mini Marshmallow that kept entering the floor. Fortunately, Kairi, with the help of Priere and Makoto, was able to face the new Fallen and thus destroy him, while also cleaning the plant of enemies.
"Uh-oh!" Ray exclaimed as he realized that Stay Puft was climbing the wall of the building. “He didn’t find what he was looking for on the bottom floors. Come on. We’ve got to go to the top floors! "
In a matter of time, they reached the elevators, entering them to go up to the upper floors. Despite the sudden tremors that ensued as they climbed, there was only silence and tension.
"My. What a day, huh? " Makoto said to break the silence. “First the monsters in the Empire State Building, then we ended up following a gluttonous green ghost through a hotel, and then we followed a ghost of a jinxed fisherman. And to top it off, we are now following an interdimensional god or demigod who is in the shape of a giant white doll who for some reason is interested in this building. "
“Yes, I can't imagine it. I don't think anyone has had a break since we came to this world. " Nina said.
“Yes, this is nuts. All-day beating ghosts and non-ghosts. " Priere said.
"Heh, you girls have been sitting in the office all day." Kairi said.
“You don't need to make a mountain of this. I see it more as an overtime day at the office. " Ray said.
"Well, what a job you have got for." Kairi said.
"Being sincere, it was Peter who came up with this business idea." Ray replied.
"That idiot? How?" Priere asked.
"It's curious. Just when we made our first paranormal discovery, we were fired from our seat at the university, so then we set up this business with the data from our first encounter with the paranormal. " Ray explained. "And that was years ago."
"Well, I can't imagine hunting ghosts all day." Nina said.
"One gets used to it." Ray said.
Soon they reached the top and began their search for said plant, but they were only finding more Mini Marshmallows and Fallen wreaking havoc on the plant, while Stay Puft kept looking out the windows looking for... whatever he was looking for, while he was out everything was turned into chaos just by the presence of Stay Puft.
At that moment, they heard a nearby woman screaming, indicating that there was still a civilian in the building.
"Venkman, come in please." Ray called on the radio. “It’s pandemonium here; chunks of the building missing everywhere. You are required at this site now!"
“I'm so happy to be in demand, but these sugarballs have got me nailed down. I can’t get past ‘em. They’re disgusting! And they’re unhealthy! " Peter said, but that was clearly an excuse and a very bad one!
"Uh, did I mention there’s a spectacularly beautiful damsel in distress?"
"I’ll be right there."
"Wow, how quickly he changed his mind." Kairi exclaimed.
"For everything else, he is a bum who makes the little effort possible." Priere commented. “But if there is something that interests him as a woman, he goes at full speed. What an opportunist!"
“At least it does something. In his own way, anyway." Ray said, shrugging.
The group kept walking as best they could through the building until they found a woman standing on a corner in an office, while Stay Puft was just on the other side of the window.
"Aright. Showtime!" Ray said.
"No! Somebody help me!" The terrified woman screamed. And Kairi seemed to have heard that voice before.
"Easy now, Miss. Just relax. No sudden movements. You’re perfectly safe now." Ray said to try to calm the woman down. But without warning Stay Puft put his arm in, scaring the woman. “Sudden movements! Sudden movements! "
The woman ran through the emergency door scared, while Kairi and the others were on the other side of Stay Puft's arm.
"Okay, enough of this." Kairi complained about the problems Stay Puft caused them, throwing a Firaga on the marshmallow arm.
Obviously, that blow must have damaged Stay Puft, since the explosion caused him to take his arm out of the office with anger on his face, leaving several Mini Marshmallows as a gift, who were soon dispatched without problems.
After this, the group went through the door, reaching the corridor that leads to the emergency stairs, finding the woman, and to their surprise, Venkman.
"How the heck did you get here so fast?" Priere asked.
"With the stairs, obviously." Peter answered the question, before turning to the woman. "It’s okay. Dr. Venkman has you. You're fine now. "
“We do all the work, and he gets the glory. The nerve!" Makoto complained in a low voice.
"You didn’t spill your coffee, did you Peter?" Ray asked sarcastically.
“Ray, I got coffee for all of us. But the little monsters spilled it." Peter said to try to look good. "And what’s the story with those things, anyway?"
"W… was that it a Manifestation of Gozer?" The woman asked.
Now that Kairi noticed, it was the same woman who gave Peter the brushoff at the Sedgewick Hotel. But did she know that Stay Puft was a manifestation of Gozer?
"Uh. Yeah, probably. It just maybe. Could be." Peter tried to reply, making even Nina shake her head in despair at Venkman's attitude.
"Let's see, do we clarify it? Is that thing Gozer or not? " Priere asked. She already knew the answer, but the question was for Peter to hurry, since now wasn’t the time to goof around with a woman, least of all with a 30-meter marshmallow man behind them.
"Okay, that's it." Peter replied, turning to the lady. “Would you like to take the most direct route outta here or for the scenic route? It’s lady’s choice."
The question was so dumb that Kairi, Nina, Priere, and Makoto slapped each other on the forehead, letting out a silent groan of complaint.
"Seriously, is he doing it on purpose, or is this by nature?" Priere asked Nina.
“And what do I know? It almost reminds me of a certain monkey I know…” Nina replied.
"There’s a stairwell over here." The woman said pointing to a door. "Let's go!"
"Whew! Yeah, grace under pressure. I appreciate that in a lady." Peter commented, and was about to receive a slap from Priere.
"Okay. Let's you and me do this quick and quiet. Before tubby soft-squeeze out there figures out what we’re up to." Ray said.
Without warning, there was a tremor throughout the plant due to a strong blow.
"I think tubby soft-squeeze has dog ears, Ray!" Peter commented.
"I agree with you on that." Kairi commented.
Ray opened the door to the stairwell, going down them, but suddenly a part of the stairs collapsed from a blow from outside the building, probably because of Stay Puft.
"We’re not getting out of here that way!" Ray exclaimed.
"Well, it was a good plan for a second." Said the woman.
“Okay, let's think: what did people do before stairs? Was it ladders or just jumping from rock to rock? " Asked Peter.
"Not now, Dr. Venkman." Kairi said. "Let's go up to the roof, it's now it is our only route."
They all started up the stairs, while they were chased by Stay Puft who was climbing the wall and was looking for them through the holes it caused in the wall until they finally reached the roof.
But there the problems didn’t end, as several Ghosts and flying Fallen ambushed them, forcing the group to face them while keeping the woman safe from the fight. Fortunately, the attackers were cowardly, managing to clear the roof.
"I don’t mean to alarm you, but we have lost sight of Stay Puft." Egon radioed.
"Seriously? So big and lose sight of it?" Priere asked.
"I don’t like this." Kairi said.
Without warning, Stay Puft appeared on the edge of the roof, roaring at them. Instinctively Nina used a fire spell against Stay Puft, the impact of which caused him to fall from the building.
“That’s how you do it. Great job, you girls! " Ray exclaimed when the marshmallow giant was released by Nina's spell. "Ha! Free s’mores for everybody, from 54th Street to 5th Avenue! Happy Thanksgiving!"
“There he goes! The big evil sailor all the way to the… ohhh! Not quite! Didn’t make it!!" Peter exclaimed as he saw how Stay Puft fell to the ground. "Hey, Ray. say six guys of the size of your finger knocked you off the side of a thirty story building and you had to climb all the way back up to tear ‘em apart. H… how mad would you be at those six little dinky types?" Peter asked as Stay Puft climbed back up the wall… again.
"I’d go with mighty pissed!" Ray replied.
"Well, I would even demolish the entire building." Priere commented.
"Why does it not surprise me?" Nina asked.
"Uh huh. Okay, and throw in a sugar high, too." Peter said.
“That giant blue and white toy… man… thing… or whatever… is still coming! He's climbing the building! " The woman warned as the group argued.
Peter looked over the edge of the roof to see how Stay Puft continued to climb. "I'm impressed with his agility, considering his complete lack of bones."
"Well, if he comes up here, we will be the ones who will lose their bones." Kairi said.
"Good news. We’ve got the Super Slammer back on pulse and Ecto-1 is rolling. We’re repositioning now. Can you hold the Stay Puft there for a few minutes? " Egon radioed.
"Seriously? Do they ever know our situation? " Nina asked.
"If by 'few’ you mean less than one, then yes, we can do that." Ray replied.
Suddenly Stay Puft's climb shook the building, causing Kairi, who was watching from the edge, to stumble and begin to fall.
"Kairi!" Nina and Priere exclaimed when they saw her fall.
Kairi was falling through the building, watching Stay Puft rapidly approach, but by some instinctive force, Kairi transformed into her Esper form, flying away from the marshmallow giant thanks to her wings of fire, relieving Priere and Nina.
"Yikes! What was that?" Ray exclaimed seeing Kairi transform.
"Is it my imagination, or has the lady transformed into a mature woman half harpy, with wings of fire on her back?" Asked Peter.
"It is a long story!" Nina exclaimed.
Peter shrugged at the answer, looking down. "Well, as long that you’re down there, would you see if you can knock off Mr. Sweetness?"
Nina and Priere shook their heads, soon jumping up to fly to Kairi's side to help her, as Makoto ran back to the stairs.
"Where are you going? The stairs are unusable." Ray said to Makoto.
“Don't worry about me, I'll go down somehow. I just want to find a good place to punch that thing in the face." The squirrel woman said, entering the building.
Priere and Nina stopped next to Kairi, quite high up from Stay Puft who was still going up the building.
"Are you okay?" Nina asked
"Yes." Kairi replied, firmly grasping her Keyblade as she looked at Stay Puft. "Let's finisht this!"
Kairi descended on Stay Puft, and with the help of Priere who descended as well, they began to hit the giant marshmallow man, but those blows only caught his attention, who began to move one of his arms to hit them in the same way as one scare away a fly.
Even after Kairi received a slap from Stay Puft, she continued to attack wherever she could from the huge white body while avoiding Stay Puft's attempts to push her away, but at least that made her focus on Kairi and Priere, and not go up the building.
Nina for her part cast her spells on Stay Puft's arms intending to make him loosen and unbalance him for a while, but his hands were very resistant to Nina's spells, even the strongest she knew.
"Watch out, you have company!" Ray warned from the roof.
As advised, dozens of Wraiths and Giant Bats began to appear, helping Stay Puft to contain Kairi and the others, although the Marshmallow man was not interested in their help.
“Seriously, those things could ask for a turn. Right now we are a little busy with our gigantic visitor." Peter commented.
"I highly doubt that the Fallen know the term 'ask for a turn'." Eve commented on the radio. "Hold on, we're almost there."
Kairi continued to attack Stay Puft physically, but now she had the Fallen surrounding her and attacking her with what they had, which also distracts Priere and Nina, the latter having to aim her magic so as not to give the Wraiths that absorbed the magic that they had. she unleashed, although things were not easy due to the presence of Reditus Wraiths in the enemy group, which made things very difficult.
"I'm already getting tired of those things." Priere said angrily at having to avoid the spells of the Specters while batting the Giant Bats.
"And the worst is that that thing is taking advantage of the situation to go up." Nina said, noticing how Stay Puft was climbing the building, Kairi being the only one who could take care of him.
Kairi did her best to stop Stay Puft, but the Fallen did nothing but annoy which made the task more difficult. Little by little Kairi began to get more irritated when she saw that her attacks could do nothing to stop Stay Puft at the same time that she had to face the Fallen around her.
When Kairi got tired of so many enemies and saw that she was hardly doing anything, she decided to take drastic measures and flew up to Stay Puft's head, blocking his way. Before he could do something to get her out of the way, Kairi launched the most powerful Firaga she could generate, hitting him in the face with it letting out a scream of rage.
The explosion was so violent that, in addition to dispersing all the Fallen in the area, it shattered the windows of the building, and almost caused the Ghostbusters on the rooftop to fall to the ground from the tremor caused by the explosion. But this had the desired effect of forcing Stay Puft to break loose and fall to the ground, turning into a marshmallow goo covering the entire street as he hit the ground.
Nina and Priere were in shock after the violent explosion, trying to reason what had happened, although they were also removing part of the marshmallow that fell on them. For her part, Makoto was leaning out of one of the broken windows, surprised by what Kairi had done.
The Ghostbusters were speechless with what happened until Ray and Peter shook their heads to come back to reality.
"Has this really happened?" Asked Peter.
Ray slapped his forehead several times to wake himself up a bit. “I've seen weird things and powerful things in my career, but this takes the cake. And, gosh, what a mess she's done. "
"Ray, Peter. We’re in position, the trap is set. We are ready to capture Stay Puft." Egon radioed. "Where is he?"
"He's that white puddle you're driving through." Peter replied.
"You're kidding, aren't you?" Edea asked over the radio.
“Timing’s off by just a hair, Egon. But we're glad the trap is working again. " Ray said.
"Seriously, it's a joke, right?" Edea asked again.
“Seriously, Kairi, what were you thinking? You almost tore down the entire building! "
When everyone went down to the street to meet the rest of the group, Rena began to scold Kairi for the recklessness she had done, and although she felt guilty for the damage caused, it had to be recognized that it was effective enough to destroy someone like Gozer. But that didn't stop the scolding Rena was giving her at the time.
"Seriously! We must set some limits on that. Even if you have your father's powers when you become an Esper, that doesn't take away from how dangerous it seems." Rena scolded. "You must use it only when necessary."
"Okay, understood." Kairi said with her head down.
Everyone could only shake their heads at the scene.
"I guess I owe you guys my life." Said the woman they saved, ending Rena's scolding Kairi… for now.
"She's clean." Egon said after examining it with his scanner.
"How do you feel?" Ray asked.
"Pretty good, all extremely weird things considered." The woman replied.
"So far, just another screwed up day at the office." Peter said, causing everyone to shake their heads.
"Well, what a day, sweetie." Priere said.
“You know, I never forget a face attached to all the rest of that. I think we met earlier at the Sedgewick Hotel. You gave me the sideshow chickendrop." Peter said, confirming to Kairi that she was the same woman from back then.
“My name’s Ilyssa. Dr. Ilyssa Selwin." The woman replied. "And..."
“I am DR. Peter Venkman. And that’s uh Egon, Ray, Winston, and uh you met them." Venkman said, getting an angry look from Rena, who was already quite angry.
"Uh huh. The Ghostbusters." Ilyssa said. "Although I think the girls aren’t with you."
"I wish we didn’t." Edea said.
"Have you ever been involved in this type of quantum temporal rift event before?" Egon asked, while doing more tests.
"A quantum what?" Ilyssa asked.
"It's called ‘arcing’; a large pulse of psychic energy." Ray explained.
"You could already explain it in English, right?" Makoto commented, scratching his head.
"I get at least half of the things they say." Kairi said.
"Actually, yes." Ilyssa replied. "I was at the museum ... a pulse of blue light surged through the building... and then I was standing outside a room on the thirteenth-floor of an old hotel."
"The Sedgewick." Winston reasoned.
"The Sedgewick does not have a thirteenth-floor." Ray said.
"Seriously? That building seemed too big to me not to have a thirteenth-floor." Edea said.
"It’s normal. In many luxury buildings and hotels, the number 13 tends to be ignored to avoid bad luck, which is why after the 12th floor goes the 14th floor. Technically, the 14th floor is the thirteenth, but it’s omitted for this reason." Makoto explained to the girls.
"It was pulling me, like a magnet." Ilyssa continued explaining. “I felt as though I was in a deep dream. I came to and ran over here."
"Here?" Ray asked.
“It is only a temporary office while I’m in town. I came to do some research after I.. woke up." Ilyssa explained.
"We’d like you to come to our lab so we can run some brief tests and ask you more questions." Egon said.
“By the way, Egon. We should talk about one thing if possible." Eve said to Egon.
"If it’s possible, okay."
"Here’s an easy one: would you like to go out for Thai, Mexican Japanese?" Asked Peter. And Rena and Priere were about to kick his ass.
