Domestic Cat(Felis Catus)
Age

Character Description
Tabitha is a member of the Pacific Northwest Council of Wizards and Witches. She has no grand plans or deep philosophy, she's there for the like-minded company and fun. Her closest friend is Prickella Quillard.

Tabitha is your typical magical cat. Her powers are somewhat weak because she's too lazy to expand them. She knows some spells, incantations, and a few potions. The only power she really perfected was the ability to fly on a broom because, well, why not? She still enjoys being a young person, partying, drinking, sleeping around. Maybe as she gets older she'll pursue a deeper understanding and honing of her abilities.

Tabitha lives in Seattle working as a tavern wench. She lives in a flat with two roomates who enjoy seeing her magic abilities.
Personality
Relaxed and mostly indifferent, a bit of a smartass. Goes with the flow. Just as happy alone with a book as she is with a group of friends at a party. Patient, until someone or something gets on her nerves.
Likes/Dislikes
Likes to party, drink, and have lots of sex. She's riding that part of her life where she has the freedom of young adulthood, but not ready for any kind of commitment to life.

She doesn't like uninvited affection and will return it with a growl and dirty look, followed by violence if the offender doesn't back off.
Background/History
Tabitha was born April 17, 6521 to Jessup and Yarnel Chander. She is the oldest of two siblings. Like so many cats, Jessup works in construction for his climbing ability. He has always taken piecework rather than stay with one employer. This idea of not being beholden to anyone was passed to his two daughters. Yarnel raised her two daughters to be curious but cautious. Little Tabitha was all over the curiosity, but cautiousness was boring. Her little sister, Wendy, was the opposite.

Tabitha liked testing boundaries. As a kitten she did this with exploration and occasional destruction of their home. As a teen she did this with staying out, lying, and boys. She got along well with her parents, but marched to her own drum and charted her own path. In her early teens she took an interest in witchcraft, which led to her discovering her own powers. No one knew where it came from. None of her living family members have magical powers and none of them were aware of any magical ancestors. Either way, caution was their suggestion. Tabitha ignored this to their dismay.

The idea of a new found talent to explore was irresistible to young Tabitha. She sought out spell books, magical trinkets, and all creatures in the city claiming to have magical abilities. She met a lot of fakes and charlatans. But she met a few who knew of the Pacific Northwest Council of Wizards and Witches. Not magical creatures themselves, but those who were fascinated with them. An old dirt-worshiping otter with a bookstore told her of the Starwife. A fortune telling squirrel lady living in Astoria with connections to magic. Starwife, what a cool name! Tabitha had a mission.

"Not on your life!" was her father's response. Crossing the Columbia River into beaver controlled Cascadia was an insane idea. Tabitha was 15 and already roaming all corners of the city on her own, she was not afraid. She'd been in plenty of fights, she knew how to stand her ground and defend herself. She also knew how to blend in and move fairly unnoticed. So one night in November of 6136, she snuck out of her home.

Over the next week, she made her way south. She'd steal food to eat, steal money to pay for wagon rides, and slept in the woods. She arrived in Longview, on the north side of the Columbia River eight days later. She paid a ferryman to take her across. The beaver soldiers on the other side only paid minor attention to her. A ragged looking 15-year-old female cat 'visiting her aunt in Astoria' doesn't rouse much suspicion. Besides, the 400 otter warriors on the other side were their main concern. Tabitha continued her journey for another six days until she finally reached Astoria.

Finding the Starwife was easy, the ancient squirrel answered her door to find a wet and ragged catgirl in need of sleep and food. Starwife Elyisa could tell within a few words that Tabitha had magic abilities. She explained to her that she will need the instruction of another elemental to build her skills. "Come with me to the next meeting of the Pacific Northwest Council of Wizards and Witches. I'll teach you what I can here over the next two weeks, then you can ride there with me on my broom." The broom ride from Astoria to Crooked Bend was TERRIFYING!! But she arrived in one piece, with the desire to NOT be afraid of flying.

She was introduced to Council leader Yelis, Gwendolyn The White Witch, Count Lucas the Vampire, and several others. "Tabitha dear, you are welcome to join us on your 18th birthday." Yelis told her. She sulked and pouted, but had something to look forward to.

Tabitha returned home to Seattle, having been gone for two months at this point. Her family did not disown her, but she could no longer live there. She moved into a flat with some friends, and has lived there since.

On her 18th birthday, she arrived back in Crooked Bend to join the Pacific Northwest Council of Wizards and Witches.

Relatives/Family

Lick(92) and Snowfur(88) Beece on her mother's side.
Father: Jessup Chander, age 44.
Mother: Yarnel Beece Chander, age 46.
Sister: Wendy Chander Fleeny, age 25.

Extended family around the Puget Sound.
World/Setting
Set on planet Earth 50,000 years in the future. Current year is 6549(Year Zero was when time measurements switched from seasons to years.) At this time, parts of the world are experiencing an industrial revolution and cultural renaissance, others are still in the Middle Ages. Improvements in medicine and education have resulted in reduced death rates, but increased overpopulation problems due to lack of a sexual revolution.

Tabitha lives in Cascadia, officially named December 25, 5680, but known as such for millennia prior. Geographically it borders the Pacific Ocean to the west, California to the south, Moratello to the east, and Sitka Region to the north. We know this area as Oregon, Washington, and the approximate southern half of British Columbia.  Dual capitals are Portland and Seattle, each run by opposing factions of otters and beavers. Official language is a mix of Old Intermountain and World Anthro. Industries are timber, minerals, fish, produce, and weapons. Standard of living varies. Residents of small towns live a Middle Ages version of middle class, but large cities are overcrowded and poverty is common.

Tabitha lives in the middle of Seattle, the largest and most populous city in Cascadia. It is the governing seat of the otter-controlled northern region of the country. It sits on the Puget Sound in the same place as our present city of Seattle. Tabitha lives in an urban center where working class, wealth, and extreme poverty mingle side by side. She blends right in with the dark grungy lifestyle, walking freely in her witch clothes. The ruling militaristic otter class only involve themselves in keeping order, paying no mind to cliques or lifestyle choice. If she lived in a small rural village like Chucky, she'd need to hide her identity.

Cascadia is, in fact, two countries. A rivalry between North American River Otters and North American Beavers has been in play here for nearly 2000 years. Tribal for the most part, occasionally escalating to gangland style violence. But in the last few centuries, as the world started to shrink and money and political power came more into play, the two species began usurping positions in high places. Otters gradually took regions north of the Columbia River, Beavers taking the southern areas, hence the two capitals. Each group now has its own military and large conflicts happen every few months. International commerce has become difficult and confusing from lack of knowing what part of the Cascadian government one is working with. This has led to poverty and unemployment, thus unrest in many areas.

In the time of Chucky and the White Witch, Cascadia is a powder-keg waiting to blow. Two species that want to either rule over the other or wipe the other out. Some want separate countries, others want to keep Cascadia united with one species dominant. Desires vary even more among everyone else. Some loyal to otters, some loyal to beavers, some loyal to none. Many furs and religious organizations have benefited greatly from the divisions, especially financially and politically.

From an international point of view, Cascadia is on the verge of becoming a failed state,
with diplomatic and trade relations nearly impossible
Body
Attractive female orange cat with rusty stripes from her head to her tail, lighter fur on her belly. Average height, about 5 feet 5 inches tall with a curvy body. Greenish eyes.
Clothing
Usually a dark gray or black long dress with an open chest and short sleeves. Standard witch hat with a lavender band around it.
Accessories
Two earrings in her left ear. A thick silver ring on her right middle and ring fingers. A thin choker around her neck. Black leather arm sleeves around each forearm.

Tabitha's wand is made of wrapped, cured aspen bark, giving it its flat white color.

Last in pool
Another member of the Pacific Northwest Council of Wizards and Witches. She's just a year older than Prickella and brings a bit of that gothy youth energy to the group. She doesn't hold any prominence in the group and attends the meetings when she can. If she's absent, she's probably hung over. Other than a few snarky comments, she doesn't make waves and is generally liked by everyone.

LOVE the backstory and details you've added too. Some day
you'll have to put the WHOLE backstory out of the city where she
lives cause I LOVE city lore! :D

Thanks! Sorry to say I'm not that good at city lore. I mean, what you see is about as deep as I get without putting significantly more time into it. I'll get to the other magical characters eventually.

I have a cousin in Astoria.  I wonder if he knows Tabitha?  He has an excellent, strait-laced disguise.

Tabitha was just passing through, she only stuck around a few weeks with Starwife Elysia. Maybe your cousin knows Elysia though. ;)
