After that many years no one he knew or was related to would still be around let alone the same society, it would be compleatly different. Let alone the very real chance of A war or other calamity like the plauge wiping out what help they could expect. However medical technology could have advanced during that time so treatment could cure him. Or they could find he was A carrier and just destroy him out of "it was for the good of the commonwealth" Also would the Plagues progress even be stopped by the cryogenics in John since it has proven adaptable and has it's own form of stasis?

So the last part first, yeah it'd work, whether frozen or in its own torpor state, either way the infection won't be advancing.

Though the other two important bits to me are that John is fortunately lucky in that he doesn't really have any friends/family to lose out on with this and I think it's worth noting that they do have the current level of medical knowledge to cure him, the station just doesn't have the facilities it needs to do so.
