Last in pool

Out on a dive one day, Lenn decided he'd head into a cave he found for some exploring. But, he eventually lost track of the way out, and was swimming increasingly frantically through the endless tunnels, everything looking the same... Just as he finally began to see the light from outside again, his countdown to drowning started, and bubbles began trickling from his mouth and blowhole! He quickly swam outside with 10 seconds left, but it seemed the cave had gone pretty deep down, enough that he couldn't see the surface, much less get there in time! But, thankfully, he had one last option.

Fighting the trembling of his fingers as best as he could, he took out a rubber plug he'd keep on him for long dives, and after a moment of psyching himself up, firmly shoved it onto his blowhole. It felt as terrible as ever, but it would do its job, and just in time as well. His countdown hit 0, his mouth opened wide to gasp, and... Nothing. His chest fiercely pumped back and forth in instinct-forced attempts to breathe, but as was the norm with his body, he was simply incapable of breathing with his blowhole blocked like this, not even losing bubbles. He frantically kicked his legs in discomfort, grabbing his neck, before bolting for the surface. With stale air forced to stay in his lungs, the suffocating dolphin likely had bought another couple minutes before he'd pass out, and that would have to be enough.
