"You don't need a reason to help people"

As a final hurrah to Final Fantasy IX's 25th anniversary, I wanted to actually draw all of the main characters in the game...unfortunately I kinda screwed myself over on time management and only got the main four done in time before the end of July, but that's better than nothing I suppose. I'll probably do the other four later.

That said, FF9 means a lot to me. Through the passage of time it's remained my favorite game of all time and has heavily influenced me in ways I can't even begin to fully express. Story telling, world building, character and costume design. I don't think I realized how much until recently replaying it again for the anniversary, and while an older perspective has made me a bit more aware of the issues the game and story have, as a whole it's still greater then the sum of it's parts for me.

One thing that I always appreciated about the game was it's main character. Zidane has always stuck out to me for managing to be such a genuinely selfless hero that wasn't bogged down by all the brooding introspection that a lot of Final Fantasy protagonists have. He was always someone I wanted to strive to be. Whether or not I accomplished that, who can say, but I think to a young mind he's a great example of always striving to do the right thing, warts and all.

All that said, I have always thought his design needed a little more. It's fine looking, but I just felt it was a touch lacking so I spruced it up a bit, because that's just what I do!
