"Come on now Ion you can do this" Ion thought to himself as he stood before a small crowd of spectators to the first midterm exam of his Spellcrafter Guild Sect, he looked towards his mother and father who were in attendance as where his two friends Flint and Zephyr but those were not the ones who Ion was worried about if he couldn't fully deliver during this exam. Looking to their right, Ion gazed upon the group he had started to resent, the main knights of Eios and the head of the Squireguard Guild Sect who constantly protested Ion's withdrawal from the Squireguard and acceptance into the Spellcrafters as the one who would become the next Overseer, the next Yggdrasil was always suppose to go through the Guild Sect as a Squireguard, to gain the leadership skills that supposedly only the Squiregurad was able to bestow upon a future heir as it was more strict and rigorous then the more free flowing and creative minded Spellcrafters or any of the other Guild Sects that one would choose to join. They have been very vocal about this but Ion was ironclad in defying their protests, helped by the fact that his father, the current Overseer and Yggdrasil backed his son's decision, as he was the one who encouraged Ion to leave the Squireguard and peruse another avenue his he so desired, and also helped by and old Sage who voice carried heavy weight in Eios and throughout all of Norland, the main seat of the Yggdrasil's Domain. Sage Fenrir is considered one of if not the most powerful and experienced Psynergist not only within Norland but the greater world itself, he is someone who is greatly respected among the populace as well as all the leadership within the House of Yggdrasil, his words carried heavy weight among all and he had taken a special interest in Ion upon seeing him at the testing grounds once he joined up with the Spellcrafters. A lot of the knights countered this fact he was only interested in Ion because of his heir to he Yggdrasil but for Sage Fenrir it had nothing to do with Ion's status but his abilities and potential as a Psynergist, that the path of the Magus was more suited for one like him, as was for someone else from the Yggdrasil's who never had the chance to fully follow in the Spellcrafter Guild Sect as they wanted to, this was also redemption for not fully speaking up back then when he felt he should have done so.
"Are you ready to begin?" Ion was asked by the examiner as he nodded back, "are you sure" Ion was asked again and giving the crows and examiner a intense looked Ion replied in a commanding tone "yes" which raised some eyebrows. He entered the examination without his staff as it was unusual for a student to show up for a Psynergy test without the main weapon to channel their Aether but even at Ion's age he already had the ability to cast with his hands and without a staff or some sort of weapon conduit to cast but for Ion, that was not the skill to show off here. He wanted to show off something grander, something that would silence those who would question his existence within the Spellcrafters. "Alright, begin!" the examiner called out as Ion put one of his hands in to his pouch and pulled out a more uncommon Magus weapon, cards of a spelldeck, a more advance weapon that not many aspiring Magus or even full fledge Magus' are able to utilize, it was a shock Ion was going to use one on his very first examination which cracked a small smile on Sage Fenrir's face. Ion started shuffling the cards between his hands back and forth as they started giving off a azure glow, reflecting the Aether that was starting to flow through his fingers, a moment latter he tossed up in the air as they twirled around in the air violently as a look of frustration came across Ion's face. "Come on now Ion, you can do this" Sage Fenrir thought to himself as he looked on, "show them this is the best path forward for you, show them that this is what you were meant to do, show them that the path of a Magus is your calling" Sage Fenrir continued thinking as a more intense look took over his face as well as a bigger grin as in that moment, Ion's custom spell circle emanated on the ground flowing from him to the ones who could see it, the cards settled down as Ion started to look in full control of the cards flying around, as azure blue lightning and fire started emanating with it. "Yes show them what you are true Magus!" Sage Fenrir finished thinking as Ion got into his grouve, he started to dark sound as the cards followed his very command, cutting down targets with them just Aura infused as a start, then commanding cards forward and flipping them strategically to cast down powerful Psynergy spells of lightning and fire, the two elements he was adept to, as well as smaller spells containing the other elements of wind, earth and water, combined with light, dark, space and time as each of the nine cards of Ion's deck would fire off a spell of the elementally type of the rune etched on the front side when he channeled his Aether through the individual card. It created a spectacle that no one had seen in a long time and never before from a junior first year, even if Ion was bumped up to second year classes due to the fact he already had a grasp on Psynergy before entering the Guild Sect, putting argument fully in the mind of his that Ion was meant to be a Magus.
