Being a freedom fighter is almost secondary to that for him. This is undoubtedly a moment from one of the higher points in his life, before he finds out his life and memories are a lie; that he's an engineered weapon designed during the war for the Acorns, that he has a severe deficiency in free will and is basically the princess's slave no matter how much neither of them wants that.
(He gets better though, after a severe freakout, a brief stint of villainy and some major tropeing from Sally and his other friends.) But this is Chay at his peak, dashing, adventurous, spouting archaic 'lords and ladies' talk, and generally being one of the heroes of the resistance.
Is he a part of Mobian Chronicles? As much as I may have spoiled story content for myself by reading this, it makes me even more keen on reading. That's a really interesting character concept.
