Lapis' vacation took an unexpected turn when she got flattened by a giant surfboard. She should've known not to play with a piece of sporting equipment meant for men twice her size, but Lapis isn't known for her ability to self-regulate.
Lapis' summer vacation was off to a fantastic start when she received an invitation to join a party being held on a private beach owned by one of her friends. The party was full of people and lasted the full day from sunrise to sunset. Lapis had a blast and got to live-stream the full thing for her fans online.
The live-stream gained a lot of attention and Lapis quickly started to receive invitations to a bunch of other beach parties that very same summer. After having such a blast at her friend's party, Lapis happily agreed to accept every invitation she was given, no matter who it was from. Her guardian, Vera, advised against accepting any invitations from strangers and warned Lapis to stay home.
Lapis ignored this warning and decided to attend a party the following week. This party was held at a public beach this time with 10x the guests Lapis' first party had. The young girl quickly surrounded herself with a large group of strangers who were all happy to be part of Lapis' live stream. Eventually the group decided they wanted to go surfing and asked Lapis if she'd like the come along.
Never having gone surfing before, Lapis agreed and the group took her to the surf shack. One of the strangers pointed to a rack of smaller surfboards more Lapis' size, but the girl wasn't interested in those boring, tiny boards. One look at the rack containing the big boards and Lapis knew she had to try one of those. Specifically, Lapis wanted to get her hands on the one with a giant mermaid on it surrounded by crashing waves.
Lapis walked up to the rack and tried picking it up. It seemed too heavy to move, but Lapis didn't give up and tried again. Both hands clasping the board, Lapis lifted with all her might before her hands slipped and she tumbling onto her back. At the same time, the board fell forwards and landed right on top of Lapis' body. No one in the group saw it happen as everyone was too busy getting their own boards and running down to the ocean.
Lapis was left underneath that board until the shop keeper came by to put it back on the rack. Once the board was lifted, the shop keep noticed this weirdly shaped pancake stuck to his floor. It looked like a person, but its design was abstract. The shop keep decided to put this thing up on his wall until whoever owned came back.
Lapis tried to get the man's attention as she was peeled off the ground, but her butt had been flattened over her mouth so only the faintest muffles of protest could get through. The man placed Lapis between two sheets of glass and held them together in a giant frame. Lapis' body was flattened out even more and any sounds she had been making before were now silenced.
Lapis stayed on that wall for the rest of the day. Her new friends saw her on the wall when they came back to return their boards, but all they did was laugh at the weird picture on the wall and leave.
Lapis remained like this for a full week after the fact, totally unable to move and completely silent, watching as dozens of people take pictures of her. All Lapis could do was wait until Vera figured out where she was and came to get her.
At least she was getting the attention she wanted...
