I was given permission to colour this remarkable drawing of Endou Mamoru folded and tickled.
It had been a century-long tradition for schools to provide trophies to other competing schools they lose against. Doesn't matter what sport it is, so long as the trophy is of adequate value. Great shame was brought upon schools who refused to offer a prize after a loss.
Endou's school was low on funds and couldn't afford to buy any trophies for schools they lost against. This meant his school rarely tried to compete in the area so there was no chance they could fail.
This didn't sit well with Endou, who loved the game of soccer and demanded that his school allow the soccer club to compete against their rival school this year. Endou was passionate, and his words persuaded the school committee into believing their team could win.
Once his school's team was allowed to compete, Endou went a little bit overboard and started to trash talk their rival team's players. The boasting of his own team along with the roasting of their rivals drew a lot of attention from other schools.
The night of the big game finally came and.... Endou's team lost. Hard. Without Question.
Endou's school had to give the winning team a trophy, but they completely lacked the funds. Every other school in the area had been watching the game and was waiting to see what the winning prize would be. The school committee had no choice... they needed to offer up something.
Endou has made a wonderful addition to his rival school's hallways. Despite all the mean things he said about them, the school has taken great care of their prize.
Endou is kept inside a case made of crystal-clear, sound-proof glass. Mechanical hands have been added to keep him entertained during school days and after school hours. Each student makes sure to visit him every morning before class to see his newest, goofy expression.
Many students like to sneak into the school during recess to play with Endou's legs and feet.
This boy is the best trophy this school has ever received.
